Notes

Release Day, sealed.

Went 3-3 and didn't place in the money, one win away.

First match I did well, but in the last game I couldn't draw lands. Even started off the 3rd game with 32 life and got him to 4, but wasn't able to get the land to play more creatures as he was able to get out his fatties and some life link.

Second match I played a white blue deck that was able to get out his rare sea monster which was able to lock up my Abhorrent and other cards every game. Lost in game 3, got a Triad of Fates out to handle it ... one turn too late.

Third match my opponent didn't show and I got a walk over 2-0.

Fourth match I faced a kid filling in for another guy who had dropped out ... what? Whatever, I lost to him 1-2. He was running green/red with a splash of blue. Won the first game handily, lost the 2nd game when he got Purphorous' weapon out and just crushed me. 3rd game I was mana screwed, only had 4 land the entire game and he milled me twice and got rid of 6 of my lands that way. Unreal.

Fifth match was another walk over win. 2 of my 3 wins occurred without playing ...

I had a decent deck, IMO. And people kept telling me that. Just couldn't draw the appropriate lands and tbh, not enough synergy and wasn't able to pull enough bombs. Was basically forced to play black white instead of white blue due to the only bomb being Abhorrent Overlord. Otherwise, easily would have gone blue white. Didn't pull a single money card either, which was in huge contrast to prerelease where I draw over $80 in mythics + Thoughtseize alone.

Still had a ton of fun, wound up buying a box afterwards. Really enjoying Theros due to the whole Greek/Roman mythology aspect as well as less multicolor cards and getting better at the game. Still clearly making mistakes, feel like if I'd played better I could have placed in my last 3 events.
