+1/+1 token deck designed to pump up Sage of Hours for extra turns. Sideboard is just a few more token generators. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

A cool idea, but what's the wincon?
    • DispatchDave | 16-May-2014 12:52
With Phalanx Leader, Nature's Panoply, and Reap What Is Sown, you have
to place +1's on more than just the Sage; I'm thinking winning is by
pumping up other creatures while loading up the Sage. But yeah, it needs
      a strong Win condition.

        My second-glance recommendations would be:
        - Ivy Lane Denizen
        - Oath of the Ancient Wood
        - Hunt the Weak
        - Bioshift
        + Sylvan Caryatid
        + Kiora's Follower
        +1 Sage of Hours
        +1 Satyr Grovedancer
        + Simic Charm

Edit: Both Ajanis would be good in here too!

Removed Ivy, Oath, Hunt; added Sylvan (2), Kiora's (2), Sage (1), and Satyr (1). I like the Bioshift to hopefully get an additional turn by transferring more counters. Do you think the Simic Charm would be a more effective aid to victory?

It's more for the second mode to make all of your stuff Hexproof to fizzle out spot removal. Are you planning on playing this competitively?
            • DispatchDave | 16-May-2014 18:26
I'm not planning on it, but who knows! I recently got back into MtG after ~18 years; just started drafting a few months ago. The more I play, the more I remember liking it. I think if I can get a pair of the new Ajani's, I might have a chance @ FNM. I plan to test the deck out (via proxy) with some friends in the next few weeks. Thanks for the advice!

Sure thing. I just saw that it was standard legal and assumed you would be playing it competitively. The biggest problem that this would have in standard right now is Supreme Verdict. One of those and your deck is severely crippled. Ajani, Mentor of Heroes would definitely make the deck better, but he's also ridiculously overpriced at the moment. Two additional changes I would make: 1) if you're keeping Bioshift, would be to take out Supply-Line Cranes and put in Experiment One. 2) Drop most if not all of the guildgates for just basic lands. You already have 7 Temples that come in tapped. Having 15/21 lands come in tapped will really slow you down.

Cool! I'll play around a bit; agreed that Ajani will help, but oh, the pricepoint hurts. Would Gift of Immortality help prevent Verdict (by keeping my Sage alive, or would he lose all counters)? OR something that grants indestructable? I see where the problem could come in with a board wipe....
                  • Andrew Quist | 16-May-2014 20:47
Gift of Immortality would save it, but the counters would be lost since the creature leaves the battlefield. Indestructible would work. Ajani's Presence fits the theme of the deck, or Rootborn Defenses or Ready//Willing.

I was just looking at Ajani's Presence! I like the way this deck is shaping up. Your insight is much appreciated. :)

What do you think of using Azor's Elocutors as a win condition; it'd only take 25 +1/+1 counters on the sage.... ;)
