This request has been made numerous times since the 2.0 rollout. Sebi has indicated that sorting by those columns will return soon, when they release modifications to the trading interface.

Having some user-controllable filters would be nice. For example:
show traders who will trade by mail, local, or both.
trader rating (e.g., choose not to show partners with <x rating.
show only users logged in during the past x days.
show only users who need x items on my tradelist (no detail match).
show only users who need x items on my tradelist (where details match).
show users who want cards I have in inventory
enter a card (or, better, a list of them) and find users who want that (those) card(s).
I think you already have some of these planned. I just capture the thoughts as they come.

Re: New MassDrop poll for upcoming buy... (6 replies, posted in General Discussion)
Not sure if this is the right forum (trading post, maybe?), but there's a poll up on massdrop.com for magic packs. I got 2-3packs of RTR last time for $12.98 shipped.

-Just spreading the love- :-)
Was it two or three? If only two, it was (imo) no deal. Even three ends up being more than retail (depending on the tax rate where you live).
I don't mean to be a downer, but am just questioning how much of a bargain it really is.

Re: Kuldotha Rebirth situation (10 replies, posted in General Discussion)
No, the sacrifice is part of the cost for each of the cards, you have to pay the cost for each ability, it's similar to trying to cast an arbor elf then a giant growth with the same green mana, costs must be paid before the ability happens, if you sacrifice Chromatic Star however you do get to draw a card because it's when it's put into the graveyard, not sacrificed, therefore you wouldn't get 1 mana of any color
I thought sacrificing was just one means for something to enter the graveyard. As I understood it, you would get the draw if an opponent destroyed Chromatic Star or if you Sacrifice it, because it hits the graveyard either way. If you sacrifice it, however, as part of the cost for the first ability, that effect would happen. The draw would happen after the card lands in the graveyard.
EDIT: Punctuation.

Re: Going to the Gatecrash Pre-Release? What will you play--and why? (12 replies, posted in General Discussion)
Pre-release was a blast. My wife and I had a great time, as did one of our sons and his friend. My lucky pulls (2x Gideon, Champion of Justice and 2x Obzedat, Ghost Council) worked out well for me, with at least one of them seeing play in just about every hand.
I came in 11th out of 31 players, with a record of 3-2. When I got home, I realized that an error on my part (not knowing Gideon well enough) cost me one of my matches. I didn't realize he was indestructible, so I allowed him to be destroyed by Grisly Spectacle--twice over two hands! I would have won both hands had Gideon remained on the field.
Oh, well! The other great pull was Blind Obedience. With only one, I did not get it out often, but when it was in play, it definitely tipped the scales in my favor. My last match when 2-1 to my opponent, but the final hand was close (had him at one life point while I was at six). I drew land six turns straight, and was eventually left with nothing to stop his attackers.
Here's the deck I played, if any of you are interested.
It was a lot of fun. My wife and I have really come to enjoy going to the pre-relase events. We're already looking forward to the next one.

Re: {advice/opinions}standard G/W (6 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
After seeing that Caracal idea, I built a deck around it. One thing I added you might want to consider is Sphere of Safety. It requires your opponent to pay (1) for each enchantment you control. If you have Rancor, Ethereal Armor, and Sphere of Safety in play, that means your opponent must pay (3) for each attacker. Get another Sphere out and that jumps to (8).
In play testing, I had a lot of fun with it. My one son played Goblin Aggro with Krenko, Mob Boss. He got more than 160 goblin tokens on the field, but could only attack with one per turn. He got me, but it took over 20 turns (all of his goblins had First Strike thanks to Bloodmark Mentor, so that's why I modified the deck to add Serra Avenger).
EDIT: spelling

Re: [Advice/Suggestions] Red/Black Aggro (1 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
I guess I don't get what you're getting at here. You just want lists of common and uncommon cards that might work? You could search the card database for that.
I think you'll find people have a much easier time providing suggestions when you are already working a concept. Perhaps describe what your central cards will be, and then others might be able to help you flesh things out.
Example: I plan to flood the board with low-cost creatures and then use Hellriderto dish the pain.

Ah! So we see how it is now. We need to be related to you in order to be more than a moderator for the site.
That means someone who wants to help with the development will need to marry your sister before they can help.

As an addition to what HikingStick said, a Rancored Trained Caracal is funny, but even funnier with Ethereal Armor on it - a 5/3 lifelink, first strike... going to town on turn 2.
That's absolutely beautiful!!!

Welcome aboard!
I won't try to strong-arm you into playing Magic the Gathering. I can just tell you that my wife (not a gamer-geek in any way) tried it and really enjoyed it. She's been playing ever since (10 years now). We're going to a pre-release event tomorrow. It's something that you can enjoy playing casually, and it allows you to express yourself in the way you (eventually) build your decks.
Even if you don't try it, I'm glad to see extra hands on deck to help Sebi and Laura! Again, welcome!

Somehow the Remember me checkbox was lost in the whole redesign
My apologies! It is now in its rightful place again
Still seeing problems with this. The checkbox is back, but it is not populating anything in the login pop-up. I did notice, however, that, with the box checked, the password box in the Signup/Try It Now area on the main screen appears to be populated (that or a default mask appears).
Not sure what the issue is, but wanted you to be aware that it is not fixed--at least, not for everyone.

Re: {advice/opinions}standard G/W (6 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
Looking at your mana curve and the cards in the deck, are you content with giving your opponents T1 and T2 to act? All your one-drops are non-creature spells, and you only have four two drop creatures (I'm not counting Boneyard Wurm, because you can't play it until you have creatures in your graveyard).
What about some one-drop mana producers, like Avacyn's Pilgrim, or a mana recycler like Arbor Elf. Use them for mana early, and then use them as chump blockers to fill your graveyard.
That said, you're only playing one Boneyard Wurm. I prefer to see more multiples in decks because it increases the odds I'll get the cards I want/need for a win condition.
Serra Avatar looks good on the surface, but I normally recommend against it unless you are running a lot of lifelink. With a couple of Thragtuskand some Nearheath Pilgrim, you'll have some lifelink, but not the amount I'd want to see if running Serra Avatar. You're not going to want to block with your Pilgrims if you're going to rely on their Soulbond ability to make Boneyard Wurm bigger. Why not add some one-drop lifelink creatures, like Trained Caracal. That way, you can get an early start on Lifelink (especially with a Rancored Caracal), and will also have cheap chump blockers to start filling that graveyard.
So, I believe there is potential here, but I believe you need to refine what you have to make the deck a consistant performer.

Topic: Going to the Gatecrash Pre-Release? What will you play--and why? (12 replies, posted in General Discussion)
My wife and I are heading to the Gatecrash Pre-Release event this weekend. While we've been playing for 10+ years, we've only been doing formal events for the past year. Going in, we're not very sure which guild boxes we want to snag. I like what I see in both Orzhov (BW) and Gruul (RG). She's thinking about about (Orzhov) BW, Dimir (BU), or Simic (BG).
I've reviewed each of the new mechanics, but am still unsure, so I'd like to know what you folks like. Which guild will you play, and why? What cards look really promising. Are there any so good that, if you pull one from a pack, you'd break from the guild colors?

Re: Foil prices when trading. (2 replies, posted in Site Discussion)
At this time, there is no separate pricing for foils (or promos, for that matter) in the system. I know Sebi has heard many voices ask about adding that feature, but I believe the challenge is finding a resource that will play nice with third-party sites.
For now, I typically go to another site to find the pricing I want for a foil, and either list it in the trade chat, or have the other party suggest a value (depending on the card).

Oh my, i barely wrote on the forum and I'm already perceived as a solider... But... if I were a token I would definitely be an elf
I just presented those as general examples (otherwise, I would have noted them with "i.e.").
BUT...If you guys did create some token templates with Deckbox.org information on the back side, I'd print them and pass them around at my LGS and at events. More folks need to know about the best MTG inventory site on the Net.

Re: How long did it take you to catalog all your cards (48 replies, posted in General Discussion)
Yeah I definitely plan on being more on top of managing my collection now that I have people to play with again, so I'm sure my inventory will be growing and shrinking as things come and go. On my 3rd day of working on it just about done with my red cards, standing at 1300+ with 706 different cards (lands included). I'm dreading going through my blacks, its my second largest group of cards lol.
Are they already sorted and in some logical order? I'd definitely do that prior to entering, as it's easier to keep track of where you are when you must put them away and resume later.
If lucky, you have someone close who is willing to help. My wife read me card names and quantities on occasion, and that helped. She plays, too, so she enjoyed seeing some new (to her) cards as well. I already had them sorted by set, so she didn't need to know what all the symbols were. Heck, I still use a list for many of them.

Re: Green/White Aggro Deck (4 replies, posted in Decks and Deckbuilding)
You don't always pull the cards you want, so I'd be cautious running only one or two of anything If running Collective Blessing, you'll want at least two. They stack.
If you run up against aggro (goblins have been making regular appearances at my LGS), will you be okay either eating the damage or using your mana producers as blockers? If not, you should have Fog, if not in your main deck, at least in your sideboard.
Blue-White control is pretty popular right now (at least in my area), so you need to be ready for that as well.
To help ensure that your Armada Wurm ends up in your hand, consider working in Mwonvuli Beast Tracker. Upon entering the battlefield, you basically tutor that Wurm right into your hand.
I do like Rancor, especially since it bounces back to your hand. Not sure what to cut for it, though. Possibly two land (since your mana-producing creatures would be available).
I like the splash or white so you can run Oblivion Ring, but I don't like Geist-Honored Monk in this deck. See if you can get your hands on some Champion of Lambholt. It gets bigger every time another creature enters the battlefield, and stays that way even if they leave (unlike Geist-Honored Monk). It's other ability really tips the balance in favor of your aggro: "Creatures with power less than Champion of Lambholt's power can't block creatures you control." Once your Champion is at 2/2, none of your creatures can be chump-blocked by 1/1 tokens. Once it gets to 4/4 or above, most opponents will have limited options for blocking your attacks.

Re: How long did it take you to catalog all your cards (48 replies, posted in General Discussion)
My initial entry was a few thousand cards, and I did it late evenings and on some weekend days over a few weeks. I was already pretty anal, though, and had most of the cards sorted and boxed before I started entering them.
Last summer, I more than doubled my collection (picking up bulk commons and uncommons, and also getting into collecting the current sets). More evening and weekend time.
Since then, I've been pretty religious about entering my cards right away--usually within 48 hours. I have one page in my trade binder for inbound cards, and I either write a list (large trades) or snap a photo (small trades) so I can adjust my inventory. I picked up so many over the holidays that I got a bit behind, but I'm back on top of it now. I have about a dozen cards to add (including three Goblin Sharpshooter--Yippie!) from the last two days.
I have over 11k cards in the system, and anticipate adding many more in the future. Welcome to the community!

Topic: [Bug] Qty change makes line disappear from advanced filter results (1 replies, posted in Site Discussion)
To help consolidate the multiple lines that ended up in my inventory when 2.0 rolled out, I started working on my Standard common and uncommon cards. When I made changes to the inventory quantities (placing all quantities on lines with details and eliminating lines without details), the row for the affected card disappears from the Inventory screen when I have the Advanced Filter set.
I was using these filters:
Is Foil = False
Format = Standard
Rarity = Common, Uncommon
Example:
I had two lines for Battle Hymn:
one had Qty=7, TradeQty=0, AVR, NM, English;
the other had Qty=0, TradeQty=5, and no other details.
I consolidated the lines into one:
Qty=7, TradeQty=3, AVR, NM, English.
I made no change to the third line (a foil copy) that was not
displayed in the main screen due to the filter.
As soon as I clicked Apply, all lines for Battle Hymn disappeared.
This happens whether or not the quantities match the numbers present before the consolidation (i.e., combining a "4,0" line with a "0,1" line into a "4,1" line yields the same results as the example above where the numbers went from "7,0" and "0,5" to "7,3").
Using Google Chrome Version 24.0.1312.52 m.
