It would be nice to have extra details, like Foil and Textless, etc., in the adding Card List interface. I am trying to add all my foils simultaneously, but will have to go back and add Foil to each.

I think you're right; I was using it as a starting point to identify EDH techniques, but that would be much better spelled out in a general EDH informational post.

I do like the staple list though, and would like to keep that easily accessible. Do you plan on adding a section for it to the General EDH Discussion thread?

I also realized someone mentioned people ditching and creating new accounts after negative feedback. If this is a genuine problem, perhaps phone number verification or address registration would hinder this. Before people can initiate or complete trades, they must either go through an SMS/text message confirmation, or register an address to their account. Numbers or addresses used this way cannot be used for other accounts without contacting admin.

About the de facto style of the current rating system; if an additional rating was added to +1 feedback, we could separate the rating of a trader's honesty (card sent, in (relatively) described condition) and a trader's conduct.

If a user selects +1, a simple 3-star rating element could display, possibly with each labeled Speed, Packaging, Attitude. Traders can give a 0, 1/2, or 1 rating in each category, or ratings can be a full a range 0, 1/2, 1 - 4 1/2, 5.
If the former is used, on a user's Trades/Feedback page, an expanded graphic could be displayed, showing the 3 categories as 3-star averages, e.g. for 3 1-star ratings and a half-star rating in one category would be shown as 2.5 stars; averaged, increased 300%, and rounded to nearest .5 (<.75).

This would leave +1 and -1 as either legit or scammer/dishonest,  and neutral feedback can be eliminated, moving the feedback usually left there to the additional ratings of +1 feedback. This would give a permanent and visible place for relevant information on a trader's ethic.

Price gouging is going to be bad unless you have a decent LGS; just take a look at Amazon.

Maybe ISP then? I am using Verizon FIOS; also does not save login via mobile network on Sprint.

I seem to not be able to keep proper cookies to 'Remember Me' on my laptop alone.

Chrome Version 26.0.1410.64 m, cookies enabled.

I knew about all that, but I still would like to be able to see more than 25 cards per page.

I agree, this can be a bit restrictive. Maybe a drop-down menu to extend pages 50, 100, 250 cards would be reasonable, when one needs to survey a larger listing.

I saw a single source that I cannot find again, which said online only; but then I was told otherwise, and found a few sites saying printed release.

Dober's Tradelist
Ease of access cool

Unfortunately, I don't have any of your wants, but feel free to look my inventory up for any possible interests smile

I haven't been on here long, but I love the potential and order of it, and I find it far superior to other deck building sites. I believe it has great value and is worth working on to greatly expand the community.
I am always full of ideas and I would like to share some of them with The Team and other interested/invested parties. I messaged a Team member and rambled about some of these, and soon realized this would be a better forum (ahem) to present and discuss the concepts. These are rather simple schemes, but they have been successful in many markets, and would almost inherently increase the user count. Scan or study, please let me know if: you feel these to be effectual, would alter any details, have any additional input, and most importantly, do we have the capacity to implement such updates.

1. Counter system.
A simple counter system throughout the site. Profiles, tradelists, trades, decks, start counting views and provide display options via user settings. People may come here for the people and trades, some may come for the organization, but everyone likes to feel like the are doing it with others, let alone feeling accomplished at high profile/deck views, and bragging rights on trade or comment count. Users could choose display relevant counts on their pages, or have a master count on their main profile page.

2. Decklist Rating
Right now we have comments, which are necessary, but they often get convoluted and irrelevant through time and deck updates. A rating system for deck lists can be available to activate by the list creator, which would allow other users, with enhanced privacy options, from friends to users to public, to provide black&white feedback. 4/5/10 star/'mana' rating, Thumbs Up/Down, +1/-1, etc. can be used. Obviously, steer clear of prominently used rating systems, especially by competition. Provide options to change / reset votes after deck updates. This rating system's application is endless.

3. Increased Facebook Interconnectivity
It seems some users have joined via Facebook, as some users have their FB link on their profile; others didn't sign up originally with Facebook. Either way someone joins, the option to connect one's Facebook profile and automatically post updates and comments would exponentially increase exposure. Spruce up the DB.org Facebook page and main page to convince these Facebook friends to join up, and bam! New, local, interested users!
To increase hits from Facebook, add 'buttons' to Like and Share on users' Inventory and Trade/Wishlist, Community Events, and forum threads. Even an option to share specific cards could be added to Card Actions in inventories, allowing users to highlight special cards now available in their Tradelist.

4. Increase Aesthetics
On attracting new members, while many prefer function over form, why not have function with form? I appreciate the simplicity and lack of distractions throughout the site, but I am a connoisseur of subtleties, and could greatly appreciate some flavorful stylings for headers and margins. It could only magnetize members and get them to keep clicking into Deckbox. What do you guys think?

5. The "Badge/Achievement/Trophy/Accomplishment/Award/Star/Card" System
This is purely for fun, with no purpose other than to fill the ever-present need to achieve and accrue within every human. This would GREATLY encourage users to return, use for extended periods, and update information on Deckbox. From completing Beginner / Trade Etiquette tutorials, to having over 10,000 total, or even unique! cards in your inventory, to trade count awards, an infinite amount of pursuits can be made. Planning would need to go into maintaining the value of being able to display these achievements, and many options need to be provided for displaying the 'badges'. Titles can be achieved and sub-texted under usernames, profile name / text colors unlocked, and much more can be provided to increase user enjoyment.

I can also provide coding and additional assistance for most of these concepts.
Discuss thoughts and the possibility of the plans. Thanks! smile

Tips to Bring More Trades Your Way!

  • Keep your Tradelist / Wishlist updated; more trades opened will be trades completed!

  • If you are willing to trade from your Inventory, say so! Feel free to state special conditions when trading from Inventory.

  • Use the 'Trading Opportunities' stream on your profile page to see users in your communities who have what you want, or want what you have!

  • Careful to not over-saturate your Tradelist / Wishlist, it will be hard for others to see the diamonds in the rough!

  • If you must have an extensive list of wanted / trade cards, try creating deck lists to hold these, while saving your Wishlist for more important and specific cards, and your Tradelist for staples and higher value cards. Make sure to point to alternate lists in your profile!

Tips for a Better Trade Experience

  • Make sure you know the condition of the card(s) you are receiving, and any other information important to you, before finalizing the trade. Pay it forward and input complete information for your Tradelist cards!

  • Check user feedback. If none, request that person to send first. If you have no feedback, find someone with a good trading record, offer to send first and request that they leave feedback (it's your job to make sure it's positive!).

  • Use common sense when meeting in person; it is unlikely you will encounter a problem or dangerous situation, but don't be stupid. Avoid suspicious/isolated locations, do not carry excessive money / valued items if you do not feel comfortable doing so, bring a buddy, have a cell phone!

  • Do not leave negative feedback without receiving permission via submitting a Bad Trade Report. Be sure that the problem is intentional and/or cannot be resolved before submitting a Bad Trade Report. The incident must also meet the conditions in section 4.2 of the Deckbox Trading Rules.

Tips to Benefit Everyone!

  • Communicate! It takes two to trade, so be polite and clear about your wants, and be patient while waiting for responses. Part of trading is haggling, so be prepared to go back and forth a bit to find what makes both parties happy!

  • Use the appropriate trade type to complete the deal. If a local trade turns into a mail trade, cancel the original trade and open the correct trade to finish the transaction.

  • Use sleeves and toploaders to protect the cards you are shipping off through who-knows-what!  Usually, 2-3 cards will fit in a toploader + envelope; more than that will require additional toploaders and a bubble mailer. If the value of the trade is significant, Delivery Confirmation is advisable. Check out free DC through PayPal MultiOrder Shipping!

  • If you are using Paypal, DO NOT gift any payment. You forfeit any possible claims if the transaction goes bad. Please do not request others to gift or pay the fees, find out how much you want vs. what the fees will take out, then decide what to sell the card(s) for.

Support; would be nice to know who is also pleasant and reliable in person, not just via postage. Just a simple icon added to reviews that were marked as 'Local'; also can be shown on profiles to notify users that a member is verified and verified locally.
