Don't view this topic as any sort of criticism, Sebi.  I just wanted to create a place to log ideas as I look through the 2.0 Alpha.

I'll list a few things here, and will invite others to do the same.

[Advanced Search/Filter]
I like the fact that it can be displayed or hidden.  As to placement, consider placing it on the far right side of the screen, much in the way MS Office applications put special purpose tools in that area.  With the prevalence of widescreen displays, I have far more lateral screen space than I do vertical screen space. Placing it to the right would allow all filters to be available all the time, without needing to show/hide them.  You could still use checkboxes to determine which are active at any time, but clearing a checkbox would not need to clear the filter field.  A "Clear All" or "Reset Filters" button could be made available (or, the filters could be used only if a master checkbox is filled, e.g., "Filter Results").

[Navigation Tools]
When viewing another member's profile, the navigation area on the left side of the screen shows all their links. Would it be possible to nest that information (the entire current profile view) inside the main content area, leaving my navigation links in place? I often like to jump directly from another member's profile to my Inventory, or to one of my decks.  This would simplify navigation (I currently need to click "My Profile" at the top of the screen, or navigate using the browser's "Back" button numerous times).

[Trading Opportunities on the member Profile page]
Since you are already listing cards that meet between the other user's tradelist and my wishlist, what about placing a checkbox by each line item, and adding a button that will start a new trade with the selected items? Separate buttons could be included for local versus mail trades, or clicking the button could pop-up a dialog box to specify the trade type.

[Create Trade page]
I'd still like to see two columns added to the right of the card name--one with what my inventory number will be as a result of this trade, and one with what my inventory number will be as a result of all pending trades (even those being negotiated).  This is a safeguard against trading in or away too many of a card.

[Profile Page]
*Could the News Feed be 1) moved to the right of the profile info and 2) could we have the option to hide it? This would move the Trading Opportunities area up on the page, making it more prominent.

*I'd still love to see a "Vacation/Holiday" option--some box a trader can check to indicate s/he is not actively trading.  If this box is checked,
1) other users will not see that user in the Trading Opportunities list (or that user's name appears with a calendar {or other} icon, indicating that the user is not currently accepting trades.
AND/OR
2) Users will not be prevented from starting a trade with a user "on vacation".

*I'd love to see an indicator along each name in the Trading Opportunities area, representing how recently the member was on the site: during the last day, in the past three days, during the past week, During the past 30 days, longer than 30 days.  Perhaps a vertical bar icon, with the tallest representing the most recent activity. Perhaps a series of bars similar to a cell phone reception icon.

There still appears to be a problem with the proximity filter for the Trading Opportunities area.  See the attached screenshot for an example (a Canadian address appears between US addresses).

There appears to be a problem with the pricing script/function for cards that have commas (",") in their name.  Take a look at "Jace, Memory Adept" and "Chandra, the Firebrand) in the card database.  Values come up as $0.00 there, and on the card details page.  Values for other cards seem fine.

Names with apostrophes ("'") have proper pricing information.  Cards with accented characters, like Seance, also appear to have pricing problems, but I'm guessing that's because of differences in how the name is recorded here versus at TCGPlayer.

It may just be me, but on the trade interface, I liked seeing each side of the trade in a separate column, as is the case with the current site.  It made it easier to view both sides of a trade.  Also, with wide-screen displays being much more common these days, I have far more horizontal screen space than I do vertical.  Am I the only one who likes the current two-column model?

The ability to filter by card language appears to be missing from the Apply Filters area of the card database.  In addition to searches by recorded language flag, consider including one option to search for cards with no language specified.

I really like being able to hit the "F" key to show the filters interface!

First of all, sorry to hear what happened.  Sometimes, people suck.

I'm not an MTGO player (though I've been considering it), but I do know that some traders deal in MTGO tix.  I've seen trades go both ways (i.e., tix for cards, and cards for tix).  Knowing this community, I'm sure you'll find someone with whom to connect soon.

I've heard too many stories of stolen decks and collections lately.  One of my sons had a stack of trades stolen at a LGS right after he completed trading for them (I believe Friday nights are just too risky for trades--too busy, with so many people clamoring about).

[SIGH]

Just an update--ran this one at the LGS today and took 2nd place.  I had tweaked the config a bit, so I'll update it here in the morning.

I also played in my first Commander event today.  I came in 3rd out of 8.  Not a bad spot for a first run.

***UPDATE*** The deck has been updated.  It is larger (72 cards!), but it is working well.

Is there a way you can...
* Collapse cards of the same name together, giving an option to expand them into multiple rows for different kinds of the card, OR
* Use the same background color on the rows of cards of the same name

I like this one, too.  Consider adding it to the list for the following release.

I (along with two other users) appear to be in a similar situation involving user AzoriusGuildmage. I've sent my cards to the guy months ago. I never received my cards and he hasn't been on since Oct. 12th.

Is there a particular way to get Sebi (or someone) to look into these issues?

Send a message to support@deckbox.org, describe the scenario, and provide a link to the trade.  The others should do the same.

If it has been months, and all attempts to communicate with the trader have failed, each of you should consider filing a mail fraud report with the USPS (the link appears elsewhere in this thread).

Absolutely beautiful, Sebi! I can't wait until it is released!

I do want you to look at one thing.  In my inventory--my Urza's Tower--four appear, each on a separate line (in the alpha), all with the same edition and condition.  In my actual collection, I only have one.

Fantastic job on the new site! Happy to see that with all these improvements, the site still looks nice and simple.

I have one request. Instead of marking all cards available for trade, would it be possible to mark cards that you have a certain amount of? For instance, I would like to trade cards that I have at least 1 playset of. It would be great if I can set that up easily.

Thanks for all the hard work. Looking forward to the new site!

I +1 this one.  That's a feature I'd love to see, too.  I'm trying to keep playsets, but am trading all additional copies.

I realize it may need to wait until the next release (or the one after that wink, but it is definitely something I'd like to see.

Interested in some land packs.  I'll send a deckbox email message...

Help me understand why Goblin Guide is so valuable.  Why would I want to give my opponent extra land? Is it simply so you might see the next card coming off the top?

I'm working to find more Bloodmark Mentor.  I wasn't familiar with Blood Moon.  I just received the additional Goblin King and Valakut, I mentioned earlier, though I'm not above neutralizing Valakut to include with Blood Moon.  I didn't realize that Goblin King is a Goblin--I just saw the ruling on Gatherer today.  That's great for the deck.

I also picked up Leyline of Punishment.  It came in handy during a couple of rounds this past weekend.

I'll start saving my pennies for Blood Moon and Arid Mesa.  I never thought of using fetch lands that way.

At this time, you can edit card details from the inventory panel by clicking the small drop down arrow that appears to the left of the card name in the NAME column, or by clicking any edition symbol that appears in that same field.

When you click one of those locations, you get a pop up screen that has one line item for each card instance.  From there, you can change the language, condition, edition, and other setting (e.g., foil, promo).  At this time, that's also the only way to view details about how many cards of each edition you have in your inventory (i.e., access that screen and count the number of lines listed for a specific edition).

When adding cards, you can use the detail add area (the bottom tab on the left of the add cards area) to enter those details as you record new inventory.

Note that deckbox.org is soon getting an upgrade.  One of the main improvement areas focuses on improvements to the inventory system, to better distinguish between different cards from different sets in your collection. You may learn more about the pending release here.

The only reason there is an iApp is because a member/hobbiest made one of his own volition.  I believe it safe to say that the only way we are likely to see an Android (or WinPhone) app is if a similarly interested hobby programmer picks up the banner...

Yep, we've changed it to +1.

I'll +1 that!

Thank you Sebi! I, too, will be taking it all in over the next few evenings.

I'd love to see that not only as available information, but as a filterable field (e.g., show only traders that have been online in the past 7 days).

Definitely a good deal.  I picked up a set of the event decks (one of each) for $36 at coolstuffinc.com.  The card value was absolutely worth it.

He still marked stuff shipped quite a while ago.  You shouldn't mark cards as shipped unless it's actually in the mail.

A subset of traders here like to mark things shipped as soon as the trade configuration is finalized, to minimize the risk of trading the same card twice (inbound or outbound).  The ones I've interacted with have always done it only with mutual consent, however.

One other note: I had a pending trade with the same individual back in August.  He was supposed to ship first.  He told me it would be a week or so before he could get me his address, since he was moving into his college housing.  After not seeing his card(s) and not seeing his new address posted, I asked him what was up.  He indicated that he would not be going through with the trade because he is "at college now and shipping and what not is a hassle." He did apologize.  Thankfully, I had not shipped (it was agreed that he would ship first).

I must admit it has been a while since I was a young college student.  Any chance that his school would have a November break or even a series of exams over the past couple weeks? It's always best if people communicate in such situations, and I do like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Please remember that standard shipping through the post office, is not guaranteed to arrive in a set period of time.  While most shipments arrive in a few days, some may take two to four (2-4) weeks to arrive, not accounting for any extraneous circumstances (e.g., hurricane, flooding).

If you can see that the trader has been online since your last contact, ask support@deckbox.org to reach out to him or her.  Include in your message both a description of the situation and a link to the trade in question.

I recently had a situation where a trusted trading partner suddenly became non-responsive, and his cards were long overdue. He was not communicating while he waited to see if the cards would show up, until I sent a message to support and they touched base with him.  It turns out his original shipment was flagged as suspicious, packages were opened, and they could not read the return address information.  He only found out about it when he went in to the post office to inquire about his missing shipments (numerous traders were affected). I received my cards two days later.

It would be nice to have the option to blacklist traders, to prevent any future contact from them.

We have the option to add friends.  Sometimes you run across traders one may wish not to encounter again, for whatever reason (e.g., sent cards from wrong set or in non-near-mint condition, ignoring your profile).

It's not anything that would need to be included in the next release--just something I believe would be useful down the road.

I hear you regarding the budget concerns. You already included four Cloudshift, so you are on the right track there. Any way to add effects that copy a target spell (e.g., Cloudshift)? I know there are some options in red (e.g., Dual Casting, Reverberate), but am not sure if you're interested in splashing another color.
