Yep, makes sense.

Working now on looking through the reports we received, and adjusting the pricing algorithms a little bit for cases that are often wrongly priced. I definitely want to improve this slowly to the point where we have some spike detection / warning mechanism for users.

Nope, sadly did not find time to implement this yet. Still on the radar though.

Since posting in the Pricing Errors thread on the forum is pretty awkward and cumbersome, there is now a little grey link on a printing's page, right above the prices, called "Report Pricing Error".

Clicking on it and submitting the comment that appears will mark the card as mispriced for us, and I will check and adjust as necessary, and as time permits.

Please simply make a quick note in the textarea such as "Price is 25$ on starcity" or something of the sort letting us know where you saw the correct price used, it makes it a bit easier for me to quickly assess the situation.

If you go to your inventory and export it (even if just contains a single card), you will get a csv that you can use as an example for the column names and order that are accepted in the import csv.

This is indeed quite user-unfriendly, and I do want to make it nicer in the future, but for now, csv is the only way...

Yep, kept postponing and finishing other things. I still want to get to them. After posting that I thought they should be done together with other international/language things, like getting all the different language printings from gatherer, and showing the proper image when a user sets a different card language. Turned out that's a bit trickier, so it got postponed smile

Just imported today

Sylvan Scrying, June, https://deckbox.org/mtg/Sylvan%20Scrying?printing=31602
Spatial Contortion, July, https://deckbox.org/mtg/Spatial%20Conto … ting=31603
Crumbling Vestige, August, https://deckbox.org/mtg/Crumbling%20Ves … ting=31604

Thanks to users that reminded me these were already published!

Hello,

There is an option for a CSV import. Which format is your collection currently stored in?

Fixed the cropping issue, the image previews in the dialog should not be cropped anymore but shown properly resized.

Good luck drafting & deckbuilding!

Another comment on this feature: I don't like how it automatically crops images. I'm not sure what the point of it is but I feel like it might be a problem if people don't know to click on the cropped versions in order to see the full version. Why crop rather than resize the image to meet some size limit?

Looks like the preview is getting cropped, will check it out. If you click on Show Original though, the image is there in full. I will fix the existing images too automatically I hope.

And not to rain on the parade, but imo this feature really underscores the fundamental need that Deckbox has to restructure its database so that each entry is an individual *card*, not a quantity listing. If I have 2 Plateaus and want to upload pictures and trade, I should be able to have 2 listings each with their own pictures.

This is not such a big problem, only it was not needed until now. You can already split a stack of 2 and set different properties on each. I will make it work for photos and notes too, no problem.

That does lead to a thought, though: Can you make it so that users can add captions and/or notes to photos? Right now you can see the photo names, but you can't edit them or anything. It would be better if the user could provide their own labels. Shouldn't be too hard to implement, right?

Next up are notes on cards, users (and myself too!) wanted that for a very long time. That should solve some of the usecases mentioned. Captions on photos might also make sense as an extra, although I'm not sure if that's not over complicating things...

Hello,

Today's update includes a brand new Premium feature: uploading card photos or scans. It's now easier than ever to take some pics of your cards so other traders know what you're getting!

The feature is accessible from inventory and tradelist listings, clicking on the camera icon on the card row. Since this will mostly be used for trading and selling, the photo dialog is also conveniently accessible from the trade and order listing. This way, you can upload a picture directly when chatting with your trade partner about the cards.

Of course, the quickest way people take photos nowadays is via smartphones, so the mobile view also has a button for adding photos when viewing your inventory or tradelist. Clicking upload photo here will automatically open your camera app to take a photo to attach in one click.

Let us know what you think, and if the feature works ok for you. As always, feedback is appreciated.

There is a soft quota of 1Gb of photos per user, to avoid abuse, but if you reach that, a simple mail to support@deckbox.org will be enough to receive more space.

Next Steps

This feature opens the way to exciting things. We wanted for a while now to offer the option of a smartphone application that would use the camera to recognize cards and add them to inventories, decks, etc. I'm already investigating some options for an Android application, there will be more details in a few weeks if someone wishes to try out a development version and see what they think.

Eternal Masters

The import for Eternal Masters is also coming later today or tommorow. As usual, I waited for Gatherer to list the official set before importing it. I might take a look at other better sources for future sets, since people are always wishing for the new card data to become available as soon as spoilers hit...

Wrote it down, will take a look, perhaps add them to the Extras: Dragon's Maze set.

Hmm, it used to be draggable on top of the "Mtg Decks" to move it to top level but it seems it does not work indeed.

I will take a look.

should we share the names of those who do this regularly so that sellers can proactively block these users?

Well, if this kind of thing is needed, then I why should we allow this kind of purchases on the website at all? It would just punish new sellers, that will stop selling in annoyance that each time something spikes the sharks buy the stuff within hours.

d72B wrote:

I'd prefer it if reporting the user opened a support case so that I have a record of it (in my "Messages") and a place to check for any responses from you, Sebi.

For example, I reported a buyer who might be scamming and I asked you to look into it before I refunded their purchase, but I didn't hear back... I had no way of confirming that your received the report (besides opening a support case for this and asking separately, which kinda defeats the purpose of the Report functionality...)

Hmm, this is true, in some cases it would be valuable to continue a conversation based on a report. I wrote it down and will get back to you on this issue after I finish a release planned for this week.

Seems there are some delays in email sending to some domains, with our new email provider. I will take a look at purchasing a dedicated IP address, should solve the problem...

Quick tiny update, added the Snapcaster Mage pro tour promo today:

The big stores also reserve the right to cancel orders that have been made immediately after spikes.

It should be no problem to simply cancel and refund. There will be a small paypal fee that is annoyingly not returned to the seller, but aside from that, it is well within the right of the seller to cancel. It is true that buyers might then leave angry feedback, but the spike occurrences should be rare enough that this should not influence the score too much.

That is at least my view on the issue.

Also feel free to use the report tool for blatant cases of users that are just trying to clearly take advantage of price inconsistencies. We do not look kindly on those kinds of "predatory" practices, and I will email warnings for repeat cases.

Can you not run a SMTP server yourself so you don't have to deal with the hosting or is getting that set up more work than is necessary.

We did have one for many years at the beginning, then used gmail, then tried a dedicated service.

It is a finicky thing, email sending, and there are many things that go wrong. Yahoo stopped delivering mail from us twice for many days, and nobody was responding to my emails, etc.

Also the risk of having to debug arcane postfix configuration files and log data for days on end, as the sole maintainer of the website is not worth taking...

We have changed the service provider for our emailing system, since our former one, despite being great[1] has decided to kick away all its customers (boo MailChimp!) smile.

The change looks to have been smooth and normally there should be no issues and no visible changes to deckbox users.  If you *do* see any kind of email delivery problem, or broken email layouts / links / content of any kind, please let me know via a Support ticket.
