I have some bayous but they're all a bit played. What's the condition on yours? Let me know if there's other stuff in my inventory that'd interest you in making up the difference.

Re: lending/borrowing (1 replies, posted in Site Discussion)
One way to possibly implement this would be to set up a "trade" (maybe with yourself, although ideally with someone else), and "ship" the cards (taking them out of your inventory), and then an option when if you cancel a trade, it asks if you if you want to add those cards back in.

Having some user-controllable filters would be nice. For example:
show traders who will trade by mail, local, or both.
trader rating (e.g., choose not to show partners with <x rating.
show only users logged in during the past x days.
show only users who need x items on my tradelist (no detail match).
show only users who need x items on my tradelist (where details match).
show users who want cards I have in inventory
enter a card (or, better, a list of them) and find users who want that (those) card(s).
added:
show only users who have x items on my wishlist (no detail match).
show only users who have x items on my wishlist(where details match).
Ideally all of above would be sortable, or at least the # of items/matches
Also: What are your thoughts in terms of the main criteria being VALUE instead of NUMBER OF CARDS? e.g., I think (if I had to choose), that I'd prefer dollar value that I can send/receive over number of cards. Some people only have one or two cards I want, but they're higher-value cards. I think the value we can trade is more indicative of a good potential trade than just the number of cards by itself (of course, having both would be nice).

I've got a bunch of stuff -- smaller stuff mostly -- that I can trade towards it. It'd help if you started by entering the versions of the cards you have in inventory, and in particular add your wishlist (and probably a bunch of easily tradeable staple cards) to your wishlist.
good luck!

One way that I've done this is by building a "deck" of every card in a set; it then shows me which cards are not in my inventory. There might be an easy solution that builds off of that.

Topic: Thoughts on NSFW ads and revenue for deckbox (1 replies, posted in Site Discussion)
Hi Sebi + mods,
First off, I want to thank you all for making an awesome trading site. I think the best is yet to come, and I'm happy to see you all able to consider and incorporate so much feedback into improving the tool.
I wanted to ask you all if there are thoughts of changing the business model in the future? Membership fees/donations, etc? As of right now, it looks like your only revenue source is the advertising. I hope that it's at least enough to cover your hosting fees, if not your development time.
My main question/concern was: I've deliberately turned off my browser's adblocking on your site, since it seems like the only way to support you guys. However there is what seems to be a possibly NSFW ad currently running for custom yu-gi-oh playmats. Since I'm at work, I had to turn the adblocking back on to keep that off.
Is there any way to ensure those ads won't appear in the future?
If not (or even if yes), how can/should we support the site going forward?
Cheers, and thanks!

Re: Release 2.0: Collection interface changes, MANY trading rules changes (100 replies, posted in Announcements)
Somewhat related to this issue is another suggestion, which I believe I posted elsewhere -- not sure if it's in this thread or another thread.
If a possible trade partner wants a specific version of a card, and I have an unspecified version of that card in my tradelist, I'd like that to appear in the trading opportunities section. As of right now, it doesn't appear. For someone like me with 10K+ unspecified-version cards, trading will be hard without seeing these /potential/ matches. This way, I could see "oh, this person only wants M10 lightning bolts.. let me go see if any of my bolts are from M10", instead of just never seeing the possible overlap. If the versions are different (e.g., all mine are 4th edition and his wishlist is all M10), then it makes sense not to show that overlap in trading opportunities.

Re: Release 2.0: Collection interface changes, MANY trading rules changes (100 replies, posted in Announcements)
People have been talking about can get/can give counts not matching what shows up on other users' profile pages. I don't think this has been said, so I'd like to point out that it seems to stem from specifying editions. If someone wants Elves of Deep Shadow from The Dark, and your tradelist has it listed with no edition, it will show in the count on your profile, but it will not show as a potential trade on the other person's profile page. I suggest that everyone leave details off of their wishlists unless they truly do care.
I would love to see cards of mismatched versions, or at least of unspecified versions, appear in the trading opportunities window. For example - I haven't specified the version of Ponder that I have. My partner has specified only Lorwyn version. It turns out that I have some from Lorwyn -- I'd at least like to see that we have a possible match. I have over 12K cards on here, and I can't possibly go back and enter the version on all of them, but in many cases possible trading matches aren't showing up.
I'd also love it if cards with only one version could auto-populate that version -- or at least, we could turn that on.
Lastly -- the default pricing -- I think it makes more sense to leave the default pricing of an unspecified card as the LOWEST priced version, as opposed to the most recent version -- it will provide an incentive for people to specify their versions, since adding the version can only increase your price/value.

So I'm not sure whats happening here. When I search for Drogskol Captain and the page loads I can see I have 10 in my wishlist. If I select a user that has some to trade the page loads but drogskol captain isn't in the list of cards I need from them. I'm not exactly sure why.
Charlie
I posted a separate thread about this issue in the feedback forum. I too am not alway seeing all cards a person has on my wish list when viewing the trading opportunities section.

I just noticed a bug -- I was looking for everyone that had the card "Mana Reflection" in their tradelist through the card database. I clicked on a number of people, but when viewing the trading opportunities section of their profiles, Mana reflection did not show up for many/most of them. In all cases, there were other cards appearing in their "can send" section, but not Mana Reflection. Additionally, when I look at their tradelist, it does in fact show that they have Mana Reflections for trade. Not sure if other cards are affected.

Topic: Bug report + requests (1 replies, posted in Site Discussion)
Bug: When viewing "show value" on my tradelist, nothing shows up. (it works in inventory and wishlist though).
Change/feature request: In the trade window, when editing a trade, the default is now alphabetical. While this may be slightly useful for people who organize their cards only alphabetically (which is probably not many; most at least organize by color and alphabetical) -- it makes it really hard to see how trades have changed. For example. I just had a large trade with someone almost finalized. I asked them to add another card or two, and they did, but I can't see what they added. So I had to go through the stack of cards I had set aside to figure out what was added to the list. I prefer the older default, when the most recent changes were at the top. Or at least the option of sorting between the two, or seeing the most recent changes.
Question/request When, if ever, can we expect foil pricing? I realize promo and foreign language pricing, as well as condition-based pricing, is probably hard to implement, but any chance of getting foil pricing in the near future?
Thanks for all the great updates/changes. Can't wait to see/find more!

low can get messed up, especially for smaller cards, because some people on TCGplayer make up for it with high shipping costs. I like using the mid-price, if the mid-price wasn't so wrong

Re: 2.0 Trading Rules and Guidelines. Mail Fraud. (19 replies, posted in Announcements)
I agree that it may be overkill. I'll continue to use the site either way. I've managed to complete 300 trades without a major issue, although a handful of minor ones.
I'll leave it to Sebi and the devs to decide if it's worth it or not, or if they can implement it simply. Since he seemed interested in my idea to the point of suggesting a mockup, I responded with my own.
As I said further up in the thread, my biggest fear is that with more clarity around the rules, that some people may take advantage of those rules, and would lead to a change in the culture of deckbox, where people don't trust eachother or look for excuses to take advantage of others (i.e., common complaint with some other online trading boards with very strict rules).

Re: 2.0 Trading Rules and Guidelines. Mail Fraud. (19 replies, posted in Announcements)
You guys are all aware that you can enter your own feedback into the text box next to the +1 -1 box, right? There shouldn't be a need to specify a dozen options; rather, the text box should be increased so that you can type in any details if they're required.
Yes. But most people, myself included, don't enter in meaningful feedback. My suggestion here is mainly to encourage people who encountered an issue but still had a "successful" +1 trade, to explain if anything happened.
My rationale: I've had packages go missing on route to me, and one go missing that I sent. I believe they were honest losses, so I gave positive feedback. However, if someone had a pattern of losing shipments, I'd want an easy way to know that, if I'm trading with them. Basically looking for a system to track patterns of behavior that's more defined than just open-ended comments -- especially since nearly all comments are rated +1, even if there are minor issues, and most open-ended text comments are not really useful as-is.

Re: 2.0 Trading Rules and Guidelines. Mail Fraud. (19 replies, posted in Announcements)
I might not force everyone to enter additional comments for a perfectly smooth trade. What I might do is something like this:
Feedback phase:
+1 = Perfect trade, no issues [does not see follow-up]
+1 = Good completed trade, but some minor issues (e.g., card condition, delays, lost mail)
0 = Satisfactory trade, but significant issues
-1 = Bad trade, did not receive cards
The last 3 options would drive some sort of secondary list, where you could select all that apply. I'd suggest that each check-box possibly require an explanation. My list would look like this
(X all that apply)
[ ] Card condition significantly worse than described/expected [please specify]
[ ] Wrong/missing cards included [please specify]
[ ] Trader changed cards after trade accepted [please specify]
[ ] Significant mail/delivery delay [please specify]
[ ] His/Her cards did not arrive at first, and had to resend [please specify]
[ ] My cards did not arrive to him/her at first, had to resend [please specify]
[ ] Poor communication or etiquette [please specify]
[ ] Other [please specify]
As I said, I'd love to be able to look at someone's trades, and see that X% of them had delays or poor communication or lost mail, so I could be wary.
I don't want these comments to be seen as punishment -- I've made many of these errors myself. I've still given and received +1s because we can work it out, but it'd be massively useful to see patterns with certain behavior.. And I also think that tracking this will make it somewhat of a deterrent for bad traders.
Hopefully something like this wouldn't be too hard to implement. Happy to take other feedback or add other reasons. I don't want to add a million reasons-- I think probably 5 or 6 is enough, and encourage people to write comments explaining why.
[EDIT] I suppose if you left -1 feedback, some of those options probably don't apply, and you should see a separate list, or maybe just enter in a detailed comment, since most likely your cards never arrived.

Re: 2.0 Trading Rules and Guidelines. Mail Fraud. (19 replies, posted in Announcements)
Do people do that? I have 80 successful trades at this point, and I've never had anybody claim that they haven't received my cards. And I don't usually bother with DC until it hits $40 or so.
I've had it happen once to me in 290 trades (my send got lost), and twice to me on the receiving end.
I'm not concerned about it today. I feel like right now, with the rules being informal, that it's very "gentlemanly" and honor system. I'm slightly concerned that as the rules become harder and firmer (and as deckbox grows) that it will become more common.
Right now, I have 290 positive trades and no negatives. I don't really fear an occasional bad trader taking advantage of me, in large part because the community would probably take my word over a newbies. But if the rules become very strict, I worry that I would "lose" against any newbie if I didn't have DC proof.
I hear a lot of bad stuff on other trading sites with very rigid rules where people get hosed regularly if they don't use DC on every trade. I don't want this site to become a place where you HAVE to use DC, or strongly risk getting ripped off, no matter how high your rep.

Re: 2.0 Trading Rules and Guidelines. Mail Fraud. (19 replies, posted in Announcements)
One suggestion that I might have to the feedback process and lost mail / mail fraud was if there was a way to see which traders have "lost" a lot of mail, in either direction.
For example, person X often has small trades "lost" on the way to his house (assuming small trades without DC). Although it's usually on the senders to prove it, and that's the risk they run in not using DC. However, if I know that person X has made 5 lost mail claims out of 50 trades, I would know that person X might be suspicious, and I'd want to make sure that used DC for his trades.
As a high-volume trader myself, with lots of smallish ($5-$20) trades, I don't use DC for most trades -- the expense isn't really worth the reward, and most people here are overwhelmingly honest. If we're moving to a system with DC becomes more formally necessary, and one where people with higher reps may not get the benefit of the doubt, then I'd be really interested in some sort of system that gives me as a trader more info on how many disputes they've had -- besides just feedback. If someone claims they my envelope never arrived, I'm likely to apologize profusely, resend new cards, give them positive feedback, and probably not mention it in the feedback. Thus the repeat offenders may be hard to identify.
thanks!
