Getting back into Magic: after a year long break.
Looking for casual EDH players in NW Ohio, Toledo area.

I believe that has always been a feature on Deckbox, unless something changed.

nice collection of cards by the way big_smile

Cracked a box of M14 last evening.
paid $100 for the box, covered all expenses in rares alone.

Here's the list of rares and uncommon I pulled.
http://deckbox.org/sets/663644

Looking back at some of my old trades, noticing how much card values have changed over the years.
good example of this. I almost let a sensei's divine top go for set of Elite Inquisitor, Champion of the Parish. Then the trade would of been in my favor, but seeing how much prices have changed. I'm lucky the trade fell though Lol.

Anybody too have a story to share?

If it were feasibly possible, I would binder my whole collection. lol
something about flipping though pages, seeing available cards to use, reading a collage of rule text- It really helps with creating card combos.

I organize by Value, Rarity, Playsets, Color/type.

1) all Mystics, Rare, and any card of value are sleeved in binder. sorted by color and play-set.
2) all Uncommon & Common cards are sorted by play-set, divided by color & type "IE special lands, Artifacts, Multi-color" then boxed.
3) Keep all Uncommon's, Commons, and Mana-lands in separate boxes. Label boxes.
4) Divide Uncommon, Common boxes by generation. "recent standard, modern, legacy"

Using Deckbox as a digital tool / aid helps allot. keeping track of what cards I do have available, or which deck they reside in.
Finding cards is quite easy. Choose a card, grab the box corresponding to that card, flip to the correct color divider, pull your card.

OTG is composed of members all across Ohio.
Majority hail from Columbus, Cleavland, and Toledo.

so tell us a little about your deck: -you're expectations what it's suppose to do, -combos, -win conditions, ect.. ect..

Clearly i see a few perspectives going on, but usually helps still if the builder is aware or knowledgeable of his or her own deck.

once I have a more defined understanding of your goal or direction. then I will make concrete suggestions smile

otherwise, looks fine cool

edit:
here's some input:
needs exquisite Blood Curse of Bloodletting
Reverberate's another personal choice. consider this scenario- you're looking to nuke your opponent with Devil's Play or something, and the A**hole blocks your attack with a counter, cast reverberate and target your own spell, in response copy it, and re-target him with it again. -- that or if he's dumb enough not to counter it, copy it and double the damage. smile

best advise, don't spend the money.
do realize you will end up with a bulk of junk commons.
spending $100+ for 36 rare cards. which for the majority, most only cost a dollar or less each.

the fact of the matter is- you never honestly get back what you spend putting into purchasing a box.

reasons to buy a box:
1.) drafting with friends- "usually helps if everyone chips in"
2.) hosting a private event.. again, helps if participants chip in on the cost.
3.) collecting boxes for future value. some sets are worth holding onto, but takes years . "vault that baby up"

--
don't get me wrong, I love cracking those cellophane wrapped lotto tickets too.
but in all serious measures, it's not worth buying boxes for personal use or deck building.

but think of the possibility's with Craterhoof Behemoth LoL

EDH:
Trostani, Selesnya's Voice + parallel lives + storm herd + craterhoof behemoth = allot of beastly creatures & a mega ton of life LoL.
40heath + storm herd x2 + x/x * y = 80 tokens with 80/80 possible 6400 damage with flying.

also, my advice for 5 color EDH to go with Cromat. Sliver queen is good if your running a sliver deck.
Mayael the Anima, ditch the white and go with Maelstrom wanderer. besides, I wouldn't advise playing EDH without some deck control which blue offers.

my apology for hijacking the thread, I just seen where you're going with the deck build and wanted to give some insight.

Snapcaster's not too bad in EDH, what colors were you planning to run?

Snapcaster with Deadeye Navigator or Conjures Closet, also toss in a Dralnu, Lich Lord.
take the upper hand playing cards from your grave.

Blue black's the way to go.
few power EDH cards to add here would be your basic tutors, and Draws. all U/B cards - consecrated sphinx, Demonic tutor, Rhystic Tutor. catch where I'm going here wink

EDH is all i play man, It's my bread n butter.

Yep, these are pretty awesome.  Great work!  I always thought about trying this, but I don't think I have the talent nor the patience.

For your commander, do you plan to keep an extra copy around, in case it gets shuffled into your library?

Thank you everybody for your appreciation smile

I do alterations only on cards I have multiples of anyways. far as my Generals go "Cromat& Maelstrom Wanderer" I've always  kept them separate from the decks, and stored in thicker top-loader sleeves. oppose to having them mixed in with the rest of the cards.

Just a thought, I bet it would look awesome if you used foil backgrounds, especially if you usually use basic lands

I thought about it, but wasn't sure how the foil layers would react to being cropped.
although a full foil 3D pop-out card would be cool.

These look sweet!

Out of curiosity, are the cards actually 3D or are they the same/near the same thickness as a regular card?

I'm still working on building my skills, but there are about five layers in each card, and measure roughly 15 cards thick.
Takes about three hours of labor per card and two dollars of material excluding the cost of the cards themselves.

I've recently picked up the hobby of making altered art MTG cards, and thought I'd share a few that I've done with the community.

I plan on making a few more, and update this thread as I progress. I may consider taking commissions once my skills are honed enough with practice. smile

Man if I would have known there was interest for the just the boxes and such I would picked through the trash for the ones people were throwing away.

That in mind, I have a Golgari and Izzet box with life counters, checklist and letters (no packs) if anybody else is interested. The Golgari one has rip on the 1 corner but the Izzet 1 is just like I got it from the pre release just as an FYI.

no kidding lol.

I still have my Izzet & Azorius box's with papers - sans Life counters. "I too collect dice smile "

Had a ton of fun at the Pre-Release.
didn't win, but I did take home the door prize, and collected some great cards for my EDH deck.
Winning or Loosing, I had a great time.

Of course, The event ended around 11pm. Me, the shop owner, and a few friends stayed around the LGS till 4am the next day playing After-Hour EDH. Great fun, Good memories smile
