Thanks for the responses. I appreciate your ability to take constructive criticism that could EASILY be taken as someone being a jerk online.  My feedback is based purely out of hopes of seeing deckbox be even more of a success than it already is (for selfish reasons as well as MTG community reasons).

I really believe it would be worth your time to drop it to github.  Regardless of current state.  I can imagine the amount of 'spaghetti code' and things like that, that would accrue over a 10 year period with 1 dude developing lol.  Even the best of coders would have it.  I just feel like it would take a good chunk of time up front - but from that point forward I would HOPE you would have people wanting to contribute to the project/features they want and basically do the work and you would then just need to review the code before merge.

Just sharing my thoughts.

BTW I'm going back to premium right now purely based on your ability to take my horribly worded and delivered feedback and respond politely lol.  Thanks for listening.

I mean for a long time there was pretty much no dev or real acknowledgement of feature requests for quite a while.  It was pretty much just card updates (like sets, etc.).  You would see feature requests that would go unacknowledged or somewhat acknowledged for quite a while.  There's no real dev roadmap, dev activity etc.  Is there a codebase on github somewhere where all the people that have offered to help could contribute that way? etc.

Here's a post I made about it ~1.5 yrs ago: https://deckbox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=29179

Even when you look in the announcements section it's primarily database updates up until the last 6 months. It appears in the last 6 months development has picked up a bit.

I'm not trying to upset anybody, or badmouth anybody.  The reality is you have a solid product, and somewhat of a market capitalization and ultimately I'd love for it to go further.  My main frustration originally when I was paying was the fact that I was paying to support development/site costs. But when you don't see any development (database updates don't count) it feels like you're paying for nothing.

Just meant to be constructive feedback.

I let my premium lapse until the team started actively developing again.  Does anyone know if dev has picked up again and feature requests are getting some love/added?

Thanks!

Totally agree.

Site development is dead.  I, as well as MANY others on this site, have often requested features - almost begged at times with little to no response.  This is the reason I have let my subscription lapse. I'm happy to pay for a site that is actively supported.  Unfortunately it's become nothing more than an advanced google sheets document.

Edit - Ha! Thought it lapsed but didn't realize until I made this post and saw the green check.  I guess it expires Jan 2018.  Regardless, I won't be renewing.

Can we get some form of communication regarding site updates, dev roadmap, or a status of feature requests?  Even if the update is "development is on hold, life is busy".

Thanks!

Edit:  A good example is this list of feature requests that are all on the first page of this forum, with zero response from a DB representative (believe there's only 1).

You could argue that. It is my personal opinion that when you're running a service with paying customers, you should probably take that approach into consideration.  tongue

Just because Sebi doesn't respond to every post doesn't mean he ignores them. He has a lot to do for the site and this likely isn't his only job.

It's not an intentional knock against Sebi.  I'm sure he's a great guy, and obviously does great work.  But if you look up "ignore":

ig·nore
iɡˈnôr/
verb
refuse to take notice of or acknowledge; disregard intentionally.
"he ignored her outraged question"
synonyms: disregard, take no notice of, pay no attention to, pay no heed to; More
fail to consider (something significant).
"direct satellite broadcasting ignores national boundaries"
LAW
(of a grand jury) reject (an indictment) as groundless.

Key word "acknowledge".  If we saw regular updates to the site outside of the database updates, and some of those updates included community requested features, then we could assume what you say is correct.  But the fact that there is no acknowledgement, no public road map, lackluster communication about the future.  The perception is that it's ignored.  Again, not a knock, just a perceived reality.

From a previously paying members perspective, I support the site expecting the money to be re-invested on some level, even if it's a fraction of what I pay.  Even if that re-investment is just communication about what's going on, what's planned (even if it's nothing) is it, I'd be happy. smile

hate to be the bearer of bad news rlandrum, but don't hold your breath tongue

feature requests fall into black holes around here.  About a year ago it would atleast get a "it's on the list" type response, but now it's just ignored.

Good luck.  Pretty sure the site is on cruise control.  I've been asking about dev/features for a while now with no response.  I canceled my membership renewal and have been looking at other options like Puca and a few others.

Hey there.  Is there a dev road map or a feature request list of priorities? Or even a What's Next section?

The reason I asked is because I asked about a year ago for a feature that would list community decks that your current inventory could build out, as a way to discover new decks without having to buy new cards.  On twitter you said you added it to the list, but now I'm curious if it's been worked on or even planned out.  I promise you I am not asking in a way that is like "where's my feature??!!".  Totally just curious.  Thanks!  Keep up the great work.

Is there a mobile app out that interfaces w/ deckbox yet? Not one that imports your library, but one that uses live data.

I don't mind the mobile interface, but it's just not the same as a mobile app.

I'm sure anything that would cut down on the time for large trades would be awesome.  Currently I have about 9 pages of cards that a person wants so I would have to manually enter each one of those.  Thank God for dual monitors.

First off, thanks so much for building such an awesome tool/site for us to use.  Two days in I went premium because I want to support what you're doing.  Keep up the great work.

One thing I'm seeing a huge need for on my end is an easy way to propose trades.

It would be great if we could go to someone's profile where it shows what you have that they want, then what they have that you want..then just click a button and it all dumps into a proposed trade.  From there you can remove what you DON'T want to offer, and remove what you DON'T want from them.  I'm about to do a huge trade with some people for about ~200+ of my commons for 3-5 of their rares.  Entering all this in manually is kind of a nightmare.  Especially after I have spent the last week entering in ~4k cards lol. (8k more to go :\ )

Thanks again for the amazing site! Take care.
