Notes
This is my second most powerful EDH deck; a hybrid between BG midrange and stax that aims to establish control over the board by denying opponents' resources. It's not as competitive / fast as Nin, but barring some pet card inclusions like Defense of the Heart, it's pretty close. Just need the busted fast mana, and another expensive stax piece or two to push it up to 100%.
This deck usually wins by setting up obstacles that prevent opponents from interacting with you, and then killing the table with Mikaeus + Triskelion or Mikeaus + Walking Ballista + Sac Outlet.
Plan B is to use the Necrotic Ooze combo, which I'll explain later.
Here are the most common ways to assemble Mikaeus + Triskelion:
1. Buried Alive to put them both in the graveyard + Victimize
2a. Have Protean Hulk die. Use its triggered ability to find Phyrexian Delver and a 1 cmc sac outlet (Carrion Feeder, Viscera Seer). Phyrexian Delver's ETB trigger will return Protean Hulk to the field.
2b. Sacrifice Protean Hulk using the other creature you found in 2a, getting Mikaeus from your library onto the field.
2c. Sacrifice Phyrexian Delver, bringing it back with Undying thanks to Mikaeus. With the Delver's ETB trigger, get Protean Hulk back from the graveyard to the field.
2d. Sacrifice Protean Hulk, getting Triskelion from your library to the field.
3. Natural Order, Eldrich Evolution, Chord of Calling, etc. to get Protean Hulk onto the battlefield + sacrifice outlet = Go to 2a. Alternatively, you can get Mikaeus + Walking Ballista at 2b and skip the rest.
4. Defense of the Heart can bring both Mikaeus and Triskelion into play.
The Necrotic Ooze combo:
This combo requires Phyrexian Devourer and either Walking Ballista or Triskelion in the graveyard.
1. Play Necrotic Ooze. It has the abilities of the aforementioned creatures in the graveyard. Repeatedly use the Devourer's ability to sufficiently increase Ooze's power, then remove the +1/+1 counters with Triskelion / Walking Ballista's ability. This allows you to ping opponents for the total CMC of whatever cards remain in your library. The easiest way to assemble this is Buried Alive + any reanimation spell on Necrotic Ooze, but it's also easy to get there with Survival of the Fittest.
Average CMC: 2.53
Wishlist:
Mox Diamond, Mana Crypt, Imperial Seal, Trinisphere, perhaps a thorn effect or two. (Too much $$$ right now, though.)
