Mono white EDH has always felt so weak to me. Having a reanimator commander feels like it should help, do you think this deck has the resilience to make it through a tough game? Every time I play mono white I feel like, this is the time, and then I go 5 straight games where I miss a couple land drops, run out of gas, and die without ever really impacting the board.
Ive brewed a version of this deck up too, and I'm considering building it, but I just am so hesitant. What do you think? Do you have a good feeling this time around?
I would never build this in person, but I really enjoy putting together neat looking decks - so no good feelings, except that it seems like it could be a reasonably run political deck.
For the play group I have (meeting once a month or so), its probably fine because its a low power level. A deck like this could certianly work if you have a group playing on the lower end of the power scale (for reference, the Maelstrom Wanderer deck wins maybe 70-80% of the games I play with it in this group, even with all the eurika style effects in it)
I am one of those players who considers mana to be the most important thing you can have, next to removal, so on top of the slightly over 40 lands I am running ~15 ramp, which should help with part of the issue in monowhite.
Definitely will run out of gas - if you are the one that everyone is targeting which is something you could possibly avoid. The Many-to-One removal spells in white is some of best 'card advantage.' you get, but I also added a lot of political cards in this list in order to make you less of a target.
Deck will still just fold to almost all combo, but I do not think there will be any getting around that.
If I have to chose an optimal 'angels' deck, it would probably be mardu with kalia or with the Adarkar Valkery Legendary card.
I gotcha, I feel the same way about a lot of decks I brew up: interesting concept but unlikely to be something I'd ever build.
As far as power level of this decks is concerned, I agree that mana is very important, but I think running out of gas can be much worse. And with mono white having such an issue with that, I'd be very hesitant to play the deck.
