Notes

8 people, 3 rounds of Swiss

Went 3-0 with this deck and won 7 packs of AVR and 3 packs of M12. Pretty awesome, I think the first time I've won a prerelease.

Terminus was sweet but over the course of both days I only played a miracle card with Miracle once (Thunderous Wrath on Saturday, and then I lost that game because I killed the wrong creature). Anyway by waiting people out I often got 3-for-ones (or 3-for-2 since I had an aura on one of their guys) out of it. Keep some removal for what they still have in their hand afterward, though.

Nephalia Smuggler is just as ridiculous as he looks... Mist Raven is the best with him. That combo saved me from dying to a Moonsilver Spear which I otherwise had absolutely no way to deal with.

Remember not to play Spectral Prison on an untapped creature or they will just leave it up to block forever and it won't help much.

Latch Seeker is sweet, as is Seraph of Dawn.

Amass the Components is pretty awesome, too. Don't worry about waiting to cast it until you have something you want to put on the bottom, since out of your hand +3 there will be something you don't mind getting rid of. And you won't want to cast it later on when you need that mana for something else.

18 lands was awesome in this somewhat top-heavy deck. Most of my games took quite a while and I often was low on life before I turned the game around to win (down to 2 the first game I played before dealing any damage). Terminus would reset the board, lifelink and Goldnight Redeemer brought my life back from the red and then Mist Ravens, removal, and flyers would seal it. Sometimes I would have somewhat aggressive draws, and those were nice, too, since there was always something big to draw into later when needed.

This card pool included Tibalt (one of maybe five or so opened at that store over the weekend), but there wasn't anything else in red so I couldn't try him. Black had some interesting stuff, but white-blue was the easy (and apparently correct) choice for the deck. I really like blue in AVR limited and white is obviously ridiculous.

One of the prize packs included Tamiyo, which was the second of only two opened at that store all weekend.
