Notes

A project between myself and 3 others, to make precon power level decks using affordable cards totaling under $100. We all chosen underrated mechanics and created custom cards and commanders to push its design further.

I chose to use the mechanic soulbond. Inspiration in card design was taken from a game titled Tales of Zesteria, where a chosen few can partner and combine together to create unique battle approaches. Nearly every custom card has soulbond and few have triggers when they become unpaired. Unpairing cards was a little tricky to design as a lot of cards in real magic can possibly brake the mechanic depending on its payoff. We wanted to make sure custom cards were balanced as though they were in real magic.

This project was pretty fun! The power level is nowheres near optimal, but a nice change of pace. Finding cards that fit the theme of the game was also an enjoyable challenge. Many card choice are inspired by something from the game itself. There are few filler cards here, but works rather well once I noticed a small human and investigate theme developing.

Here's hoping that this could be the first of many odd projects.
