Yuta's undefeated run in the Standard portion of the World Championships was truly remarkable, and showcased a combination of both skill and luck, but also was the finest moment for Izzet Dragons. During the World Championship many players were still trying to figure out what was good in Standard. Once the metagame settled down after Worlds, Izzet Dragons didn't put up nearly as great results.

Smoldering Egg
Market Price: $2.81

Goldspan Dragon
Market Price: $32.17

Izzet Epiphany, the more controlling Izzet deck, has ended up stealing most of the Standard metagame share that Izzet Dragons used to occupy. However, against aggressive decks Izzet Dragons is better positioned with Smoldering Egg and Goldspan Dragon as powerful win conditions that demand immediate answers.

Izzet Dragons ended up being the perfect choice against the decks Yuta faced at Worlds. Now, Izzet Dragons has mostly been pushed out of the format, because its late game is not as strong as what Izzet Epiphany is capable of. This goes to show how quickly things can change over the course of a couple months, even if mostly the legal cards stay the same.
