Notes

So this week I drafted Simic and went 2-0 and split the final round, only losing the first game of round 1. I forget what the rare for P1P1 was, but it wasn't good, and the uncommons weren't better. I think I ended up grabbing a Grisly Spectacle (a solid card, but not what I'd like to get in P1P1). I picked up the Zameck Guildmage a little later and it seemed pretty clear by the end of pack one that blue was open, so I decided Simic was the way to go. P2P1 I opened an Obzedat, Ghost Council. There was nothing good for Simic in that deck anyway, so I hate/money drafted Ghost Daddy. P3P1 was a similar situation with Watery Grave.

In round 1, my opponent was playing a Dimir splash White deck that I wasn't prepared for. After getting into a board stall, I realized too late that a stall was exactly what he wanted to mill me out. Though I did manage to get one 2/2 ooze token from Ooze Flux that reevolved the guys I took counters from, which was cool. But, I also realized that he had no flying creatures at all, so I sideboarded in my third Cloudfin Raptor and all three Skygames. Game two I played two Cloudfin raptors on turns 1 and 2 and followed up with a Simic Fluxmage and quickly flew over him for a win. Game 3 was more interactive, but I got a Cloudfin Raptor and Simic Fluxmage out and managed to bounce a Leyline Phantom for evolve a couple times before he got rid of it, but at that point, I had a 3/4 flyer and a solid board presence, though I beat him just before he beat me down with his 13/13 Consuming Aberration.

In round 2 my opponent played Boros splash green. He wasn't able to find the creatures he needed to battalion most of the time, and when he managed to get 3 out, he was behind and had to play defensively. I set up a board presence and flew over him to win the match 2-0.

The unexpected MVP of this draft was definitely Metropolis Sprite. Two damage in the air was too much for my opponents, and with a +1/+1 counter or two on her, she was downright formidable.
