Notes

Opened a Progenitor Mimic and slammed it P1P1. Got some solid Azorius flier like I have been in every DGM draft I've done. Also picked up a Battering Krasis, a couple of Kraul Warriors, and a Turn // Burn. GTC pack got me a Steam Vents (woot!) and gifted me with three Slaughterhorns, which I gladly gobbled up. I also picked up some mana fixing with a Simic Guildgate and a Prophetic Prism (which was VERY handy). A Wasteland Viper and foil Biovisionary was also pretty sweet. RTR, even though I had Azorius and Selesnya colors, didn't provide me with a lot. Syncopate, Inaction Injunction and Paralyzing Grasp were the best RTR cards, but by pack 3 I was already pretty comfortable with my deck. I replaced an Island with my Steam Vents last minute because I wanted one red source just in case I wanted to cast Burn.

Round 1 put me against a 4-color deck that seemed to be mainly green with some blue, red, and white splashed in. I won game 1 easy because my opponent was stuck on 2 lands with a hand full of 3-drops, and I lost game 2 because I got very land swamped. I kept a 5 land hand with Biovisionary and Jelenn Sphinx, and drew a Selesnya Cluestone and a bunch of lands. Game 3 was nerve wracking, but I eventually won by swinging in with an unblocked 3/2 Battering Krasis and bloodrushing it with 2 Slaughterhorns.

Round 2 I faced an opponent playing Grixis with all kinds of removal. After winning game 1 with a persistent Wing Drake, game 2 went down to the wire. I had about 20 cards left in my library, a Jelenn Sphinx, a Slaughterhorn, and a Kraul Warrior on the battlefield, and a Progenitor Mimic and Syncopate in my hand. He had a Dinrova Horror and a couple of Frostburn Weirds. I swing with everyone, getting the +1/+1 bonus from the sphinx, and he blocked by slaughterhorn with a weird and my Kraul with his horror. I pumped my warrior, but before damage, he casted Grisly Spectacle, killing my warrior and milling me for 6. Then, on his turn, he fused a Breaking and Entering, bringing my library down to just a few cards and took a Jelenn Sphinx for his own. I won the game by casting my Progenitor Mimic copying his Dinrova Horror and bouncing the Sphinx he stole back in to my hand. Even though I only had 3 cards left in my library, he couldn't hold back my board presence and I won in 2 games.

Progenitor Mimic is a bonkers card as long as you're patient and wait to copy the right creature. 3 Slaughterhorns in my deck was absolutely awesome and they live up to all their hype. This was a draft that I had to think a lot in, and I feel like, aside from one or two mistakes, I made the right decisions. I hope my next draft goes as well as this one did!
