Notes

First pick Aetherling told me it was time to force Blue. Second pick Lavinia reenforced that notion and from there I managed to grab enough good Blue and White spells to stay Azorius instead of going 3-4 colors. I feel alright with the draft portion considering I was sitting next to a guy who had no idea what he was doing. Good thing he was on my left and only the GTC pack had no hope of signals. I feel like I put together a decent enough deck tonight with a crap-load of fliers, a couple of bombs and some okay removal.

Round 1 was against the guy who sat on my right. He was playing a Defender Mill deck with Doorkeepers, a Deathrite Shaman, and Paranoid Delusions. I didn't know mill was his plan in game 1, so I let his paranoid delusions hit me and milled some myself due to Chronic Flooding. He managed to mill me out just before he died. Games 2 and 3 I knew what his plan was and I was able to avoid it. In Game 2 I dropped Aetherling and he almost immediately scooped and in game 3 I had such a fast and dominating start with a ton of fliers that he couldn't block that he scooped while still at 11 life.

Round 2 was against a guy playing WRG, though I didn't see much of anything other than green. In Game 1, he flashed in a Skylasher to kill my Cloudfin Raptor and stalled out my board for long enough for him to get a bunch of fatties and counters on guys to beat down. In Game 2 I was off to a very fast start, getting my Cloudfin Raptor up to a 3/4 by turn 4 with only a Crocnura on his side holding back my fliers. He managed to put a bunch of counters on that Croc and, when I finally drew a Trostani's Judgement to take out the Crocanura, he played Giant Adephage so I had to use it on that. At one point I was at 20 life and he was at 3, but Predator's Rapport got him up to 11 and from there he stabilized and beat me down in a couple of turns.

I wish I got to play with Aetherling more. I only casted him once and never got to untap with it.
