If you're testing this list - when you draw Cabal Ritual, think if it would be better as a Lotus Petal. I found Petal more useful myself but would be interested to see how often Cabal Ritual gets there where Petal wouldn't.

I guess Cabal Rit let's you play Doomsday in situations where you are at two lands w/ a basic Island.  Lotus Petal isn't going to help there.

That's the one scenario I could think of.  Lotus Petal gets you bonuses in your pile by being able to cast an extra flusterstorm or an extra Brainstorm for the win.  Just more of a judgment call I suppose - I never really decided myself.  Just curious if you could gather me more data.  :)

What led you to abandon this deck and go with DDFT?  Graveyard weakness?

Nvm - I remember - inability to find Doomsday

No - the fact that there are only 4 Doomsdays was the original reason.  I can run 7 in DDFT effectively (Burning Wish).  By the time you start to fix that with the Lab Maniac version, you've either added another color, or you're diluting your protection for Lim-Dul's Vault.  Also, once I started playing DDFT more, I realized that there are more situations that you can get out of with DDFT than Lab Maniac.  This version is very linear in it's goal - DDFT is not.  I prefer the flexibility.

In addition, those same pieces that allow you to find and cast Doomsday more consistently are also part of the win condition.  That isn't the case with Lab Maniac, so you have more dead cards maindeck.

I wonder if Dig Through Time could make this deck playable again, since it helps with the afforementioned issue of finding Doomsday?

It does help that aspect, yes.  Better than LDV in this deck.  However, you do still have an issue of Deathrite Shaman disrupting your Unearth plan.  Which means that you really want 1 or 2 LED's maindeck to be able to make a more traditional pile.

Totally agree on the necessity for a couple LEDs.
