As for the new issues, I fully stand by Sebi, Laura, and the third member of the Deckbox team.  I will continue to use the website and will continue uploading cards to expand my tradelist.  Deckbox has grown and its users have demanded more.  The Deckbox team ('team') as a result has had to increase their time spent on the website.  As things have progressed the 'breaking point' between work and deckbox collided.  The 'team' believes that Deckbox is their passion.  They are willing to gamble on Deckbox rather than what their previous lives where.  Deckbox needs to become sustainable, most likely at a reduced income from their current employment (hence a gamble).  I fully agree that ads are unsustainable as are donations.  Ads cause more harm in the long run.  Donations are pleasant but unreliable.  The 'team' seeks reliability.

I believe that the 'team' could get enough data collected for its marketplace to create a smooth transition from TCG to its own data.  I have no doubts that they tried to delay and hold off TCG for as long as they could.  Their marketplace data is about a month away.

As for the viability and necessity of the marketplace - it is essential for the future of deckbox.  No other source would provide the 'team' with the timemoney to continue to meet the demand from its users and WoTCs' new products.  I believe that the switch to Amazon pricing was a result of a quick (i.e. immediate) patch while they pursue other means of getting an acceptable or best answer API key from another location.  I believe they are pursuing another API key to replace TCG and the current Amazon.  They will use the key and implement it as soon as they are able.  They are also still collecting data points for the marketplace and will switch over from the API key to the marketplace in a far smoother and gradual tone.

The reactions and egress of some were and are unavoidable.  Much like every sport team, there are observers, casual fans, committed fans, and fanatics.  In good times everybody is a fan of the team and goes to games (creating a spike), in bad times there is a lull.  While observers are appreciated and often most vocal when things go bad (in a negative way) they are always the first to leave and the last to join.  They are around for the fame but once you've gone from grace, gotten old, and are sick suddenly they never answer the phone when you need help.  (This is not a bad thing, it just is.  Everybody has done this before and will do it again.  I do not deride anybody for feeling or being this way.)  Things on deckbox will not be as quick and easy as before.  I, however, believe in the 'team' and am able to ride out this month long wait.  I will also still conduct trading do to my belief in the 'team'.

For those thinking about going inactive while the problems are being addressed I would like to recommend using the next month as a test of your MTG card price acumen.  Believe in yourself to accurately price cards.  You play magic, have played magic, you have seen what people are looking for, trade for, and most importantly use in decks.  Use that information to adjudicate a price with your knowledge and expertise.  Pit that value on the value of other cards using your expertise.  I have faith that you will come to a reasonable value eventually in your trades.

No, a valid reaction is " Im going to hold off trading/selling for the moment until this gets fixed to an acceptable level". Saying the site is "nearly unusable" is overreactive to the everything else deckbox does that those MANY other forums do not.

Young people (especially those between ages 2-26) are over-reactive naturally.  They believe (knowingly or not) that being loud and bombastic will yield 'traffic' their way.  With attention comes fame, with fame comes money.  It is a very short/brief business model but applicable for temporary gains.  After all people are corporations (if we inverse the legal ruling that corporations are people), people are money.  People no longer equals a person.  "The squeaky wheel gets the grease."  This is a direct result of the expansion and proliferation of media.  As Gramsci would say one can not separate people from their culture.

This is an issue that I have seen for some time but has yet to be fixed.  When I go to sort my wishlist by edition the list gets sorted but it is not by edition.  Can this issue be fixed?

Back when 7th edition was just released me and a friend went into FYE at the mall looking at CD's and video games.  We come across their limited MTG area and noticed that the booster packs were mislabeled for $0.50.  We each got a box for $18.

That's quite a long list.  My recommendation is:

1)  Create a basic land box.
2)  Organize your cards into sets.
3)  Organize your cards into colors.
4)  Alphabatize the cards.
5)  Store in box(s).

Cards should look like:

White  Blue  Black  Red  Green  Gold  Artifact  Land
A-Z      A-Z   A-Z     A-Z   A-Z      A-Z    A-Z        A-Z

This method will also aid in improving memory, a useful tool when playing Magic.

Some of you may have read this post http://blog.mtgprice.com/2014/03/19/lea … c-62371133 or be familiar with the subreddit:  http://www.reddit.com/r/mtgfinance/comm … ng_to_die/ for those not, it is a good read.  Do keep in mind that what he is talking about most likely won't occur for years to come.

Will Legacy die?  No.  It will become what Vintage is.

I have played Magic since 1993/4 when I was just becoming a teenager.  I have seen shifts in MTG.  Legacy used to be the same as Vintage in terms of the banned/restricted list.  Then it become a separate entity.  I have seen formats die (Extended) even after years of popularity and special rules to keep up its appeal like keeping in duals when they should have rotated out.  Rochester Draft (created where i lived and played) and popular on pro Tour's has also faded to the annals of memory.  Excuses can be made as to why Legacy will never die and I accept that as your belief.  My belief, and has been for quite some time, is that with the arrival that Modern has had Legacy will fade away much like Saturday Morning Cartoons.  My Saturday Morning Cartoons are not the same as those 10 years younger than I nor those 10 years younger then them.

Perhaps Legacy's best days are coming to an end and it will be what Vintage is 10 years from now.  There are other factors that cause me to believe that it will be far quicker than 10 years though.  The amount of people that have memories pre-mirrodin bloc, thus their collections, are far superior to those with 'Modern' memories.  Magic's popularity took a major hit with Urza and Mirrodin, people flocking away and not coming back.  With Ravnica's release did Magic become wildly popular once again as it has seen its popularity continue to rise for the last 4 or so years.

The advent of the internet has boosted MTG significantly.  We all know about StarCityGames.com and their massive tournaments.  10 years ago the landscape was vastly different.  The internet had finally reached the majority of people in 2000.  The first generation of college students knowing what the internet was (en masse) had just graduated (hopefully) by 2004.  Net-decking had become a mainstay after years of derision.  E-bay, trollandtoad, abugames were the most well known on-line magic retailers.  Card prices just began their popular ascent in prices.  It was almost 10 years ago that I played in my biggest tournament, 169 people, pales to today's massive tournaments.  Card prices were still in check, Moxes at $100, duals at $30-50, 'staples' rarely exceeding $15, new cards could be traded for 'old' cards with greater ease since there wasn't a deep price fluxuation.  Everything at the time was still grass-roots.  Legacy was always part of the grass-roots where the game, the players were all small and regionalized.  Today the game, the players are far bigger, far superior.  Fewer and fewer people have ties to Legacy cards.  They have ties to Modern though and their sheer weight and size will push Legacy into the realm of Vintage.

Food for thought.  My advice is to keep the cards you enjoy playing with and use in decks.  If you're looking for getting value out of your old cards, take some time to find a good buyer who will pay cash.  The Legacy cards will be around for a few years so don't panic, unload them patiently.  Collecting Modern 'staples' isn't a bad idea either.  If you go after foils do know that foils are harder to get rid of as there are fewer buyers/traders for high priced foils.

I'm looking for cards on my wishlist and i'd like to trade my Brimaz and Splinter Twin.

Wouldn't pay more than $400, most of the TCGMid value is in commons/uncommons/basics that will be difficult to move.

I agree with crazycow.  If sold as one unit i'd venture to say $350-450 is what you could get.  If sold individually you might be able to get upwards of $500-$550 but you would be spending more money for the many packages you mail and more time spent trying to move the cards.

I'm interested as well but I must see the backside before I make an offer.

As just one mod, I am well aware of the difference between flaming (multiple posts mentioning the same thing) and constructive commentary (post designed to gain insight, aid, or assist the original poster who many not be aware of the possibilities that exist).

Good call. Look what happened in Atlanta a few weeks ago. People were stranded in their cars for 18 hours!  Because of a couple inches of snow and tons of ice.

Being from western NY that's funny.

I have a foil Hierarch that i'm looking to trade for cards on my wishlist or a polluted delta.  Will also sell for $75 (i'll pay for shipping [tracking w/in US]).

the humorous part is i dont play jund...look at inventory. I know this has happened before and will likely happen again. It's all part of Wizards money printing technology.

Perhaps i'll elaborate on this one day in an article but the problem is the DCI unwittingly forcing cards to have high prices due to the lack of viable decks and strategies in standard/modern.
