Shade, I have one up as well.  I'd go for Niv, Rakdos and some other stuff.  Setup a trade and we'll see what we can figure out.

I could do Vraska for your Armada Wurm, Blood Crypt, Death's Presence, Slitherhead, and Desecration Demon.

If you're interested I can setup a trade.

Dlashruz - What other RTR do you have?  I'd be game to do that but there's still a discrepancy in value.

Algaco - I'm perplexed, it says you have a Vraska for trade but also want three more.  I have one for trade and that would cover Trostani, the Steam Vents, and then something else.  I could also toss in a Jarad and we could figure out a 3rd $10 card.

I'll update my inventory today but if you guys could give me some thoughts on what other RTR you have or what else is possible here, I'd be happy to get things moving.

If either of you has a Deathrite Shaman I'm also interested in picking one of those up.

I'm not entirely sure why, but Blood Crypt just would not enter into the trade interface for me for some reason.  I tried copying and pasting it, typing it, nothing.  It kept claiming it couldn't find the card, despite it being in the database.

So here's a second take on the idea now that I've seen how nasty Growing Ranks can be in actual gameplay.

http://deckbox.org/sets/239316

Now the tokens aren't tied to a single type, I'm dropping centaurs, knights, spirits, wurms, and beasts.  I have almost everything here and hope to start playtesting soon.  I'm open to thoughts on this newer version, but I'll start playtesting it soon and will let you guys know how it works.

Bumping this thread as I've edited to a new version that I'm hoping I could get some input on.  Thankfully I have almost everything in this, so I'll be trying to playtest soon to see if it works, but any input is welcome.

I have an extra Vraska the Unseen, Abrupt Decay, Blood Crypt, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord (duel decks version), and Supreme Verdict.

I'm looking to get:

1x Trostani, Selesnya's Voice
1x Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius
1x Steam Vents

And possibly

1x Armada Wurm
1x Thragtusk

Obviously anyone who can do this whole thing would be awesome, but I'm open to offers to try and figure something out.

I have a few items on your wishlist and you have some that I want.  I'll setup a trade here shortly.

It just struck me that Jarad is an Elf and the poor Archdruids were reprinted in M13 with no real supporting elves to speak of.  I certainly wouldn't complain about having a 3/3 Elvish Visionary that I can pump one more to a 4/4, give intimidate to (thanks Korozda Guildmage) and then sack after combat, netting me eight damage for six mana and only costing a visionary (who is expendable after his ETB resolves anyway).

So I made a trade the other day that netted me 2x Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord and a Griselbrand and I thought, how the hell can I use these without breaking the bank to put together a mean G/B build.  It was about then that I noticed Jarad is a zombie ELF and Elvish Archdruid came to mind.  Thus, here's a sort of strange build that I almost have everything for.

http://deckbox.org/sets/238538

The idea is to use the load of elves to work together toward a meaningful end.  Arbor Elf, Elvish Archdruid, and Elvish Visionary are all aimed to speed things up.  Untapping forests, generating crazy mana, and drawing cards all work to this end.  The fact the Archdruids also pump their fellow elves is just gravy - especially seeing as to how they also pump Jarad and the Korozda Guildmages.

The ramping is there for four possible bombs - Griselbrand, 2x Primordial Hydra, or the Great Sarlacc (aka Worldspine Wurm).  In each of those scenarios, I really am indifferent to whether they get to deliver the hits or whether I just sack them to Jarad to deal damage that way (take that Pacifism!).

I maintain some removal control of the board with 3x Abrupt Decay (yes, someone had a good pre-release) and 3x Murder - which can easily become 4x of either with 2x Treasured Find that can otherwise snag things out of my graveyard.

Vraska and Liliana are both in for added bonuses, but not as major players.  To the extent either can work as a removal option, that's just icing on the cake.

I know that 4x Overgrown Tomb and 4x Woodland Cemetery make more sense here, but they also essentially double the cost of the deck.  As I only have 1x of each, that's why they are where they stand.

Flying defense is okay... but given the speed Elvish Archdruid can afford in my ramping, do I need to worry that much?  In theory I could match their turn 5 Hypersonic Dragon (or insert something else here) with one of my big guns (even the Great Sarlacc).  I could work some Silklash Spiders into the sideboard too without any pause.

I know that I'll want Deathrite Shaman to throw in here, but what do people think?  Is this viable?  I'd sideboard enchantment removal for Detention Sphere/Oblivion Ring but otherwise, what am I lacking here?

Thoughts?

But you can apparently trade the die from them for like $6-8 each... FOR DICE!

Given that some of the Golgari packs somehow managed to end up with two rares per pack... yeah... more guild packs would be good.

I think they're valued somewhere between $25 and $30 and the stores will likely make them available this week once the official release takes place.

I wouldn't stress Vile Rebirth too much if you're sitting on 4x Cremate and 4x Deathrite Shaman.  Between those two you're already sitting on 8 ways to dump that pesky Gravecrawler/Geralf's Messenger/insert undying creature here.

For Grisly Salvage I can openly say it helped me win at least three games at pre-release simply because of the mana balancing act you have to pull in RTR world.  That and grabbing a good creature four turns earlier is always nice.  Nevermind the fact that Deathrite Shaman makes full use of everything that's in there - whether it be land, spells, or creatures.

I'm with ya on the Rancor front it seems like a multi-use item here, hence why I'd suggest either running with it or running the other pump spells.  Personally, I'd go with the Rancors if you have them as they're less mana intensive, more versatile, and, to be honest, just a better card in general.

For the hard removal, there are so many options to work with.  If you're looking to break the bank Abrupt Decay is obviously nice, but I would say, since you have limited space to work with, go with something that can stretch beyond their three drop - which means, as boring as it is, Murder, Tribute to Hunger, Dreadbore (again pricey but it would be perfect here), or Ultimate Price.

So I'm admittedly not seeing where Pack Rat really fits in here.  Sure he could pump out some more rats, but really, you're working with much bigger creatures to sack.  He's a monster if you build an all rat deck or work him with populate, but in this context, I'm not seeing his use... so that's 4 cards you can stand to lose.

Second, you're using 2x Traitorous Instinct, but you could just as easily use Mark of Mutiny - it still takes a creature, sure it only pumps one, but it also costs three rather than four (always a plus).  Act of Treason is another alternative at three CMC.

Third, I wouldn't stress Treacherous Pit-Dweller here.  Not only does he require several pieces that don't really fit the theme of the deck to keep him from screwing you over, but he wouldn't be an ideal target to sack because you would NEED a means to exile him from the graveyard before undying resolves.  Why make a move conditional if you don't have to?  If you drop him, and Vile Rebirth that makes 8 more cards you can lose - we're already down to 67.

Fourth, as much as Rancor rocks it's still not really fitting the scheme here.  Sure, you pump your creature an added two before you sack and do damage, only to get the enchantment back, but you're unlikely to attack with the creatures with Rancor. Even if you did, Cryptborn Horror already has trample, Jarad isn't supposed to attack, Desecration Demon already has flying, and Hellhole Flailer already unleashes and can sack to himself.  I also envision you getting more bang out of Rush of Blood or Auger Spree but if you're wanting to keep your CMC down, I would suggest dropping one or both of those in place of at least one more Rancor - I think of them as being an all or nothing card in this design.  That's a net of two more cards if you increase Rancor and drop the others or drop Rancor and leave the others - 65.

Fifth, I can see using Cremate for easy card draw and Grisly Salvage to help pull lands or creatures, but 4x Jarad's Orders?  You could easily drop to 2x of the Orders and add one (or more) Grisly Salvage - remember that you can pull Jarad out of the graveyard if the Salvage drops him.  But outside of that, what if the salvage forces you to dump something really good?  As a possible option, Treasured Find won several games for me at pre-release.  You could keep it in mind, but don't add it unless you really need to.  so dropping 2x Orders but adding 1x Salvage puts you at 64 now.

Personally I'd make up those last four cards by dropping 2x Jarad and 2x Cryptborn Horror.  For Jarad, you don't want to be sitting on an extra one or two of him in your hand, especially when you can dump lands to get him back in a pinch.  For the Horror, in a turn when you don't end up hurting them (which should be few and far between here) he's a totally worthless creature that would come in as a 0/0.  Since he could be great, keep the 2x, but for every time he could be a beast you'll likely have a time he will be useless.  Those last four and you're at 60.

BAM!

That aside, I think a deck like this SCREAMS for Death's Presence - I know it's expensive, but man, then those sacks just get bigger and bigger and bigger.

Lastly, I'm not seeing any removal beyond taking their creatures and sacking them or Auger Spree.  This could be a problem.
Best luck!

Indeed, since proliferate is about to rotate out, Sebi proliferated how many moderators there are.  wink

Why not run BOTH the Charm and Call of the Conclave?  In both cases they're better than just a 1/1 token - and both for two.  Then I'd have knights, centaurs, spirits, and birds - take that detention sphere?  To that end I guess it makes sense to keep the Seller of Songbirds and dump something else... hrm.  So many pieces, so few spots.

I'm mostly planning this as an alternate deck for my girlfriend to take to FNMs when she doesn't want to play her G/W angels.

Thanks for the input... it's a meeting of the moderators in here wink.

The rationale for Seller of Songbirds is to provide more 1/1 flying tokens and a chump blocker.  Perhaps not the best option, but it certainly doesn't hurt the budget (I already have four of them smile ).  But I could definitely see where they could give way to 2x more Doomed Traveler.  That would net me -2 cards.  Potentially a good call.

I could also see siding the smiter, but man, even without fitting the scheme, a 4/4 that can't be countered for three that is free if they make you discard?  I mean c'mon.  That thing seems like it should be in ANY green/white deck, regardless.  If nothing else it demands attention.

You suggested cutting Call of the Conclave in place of a 2/2 vigilant knight.  Is he a token?  Which knight are you referring to?  I'm definitely on board for vigilance.  But I'm hesitant to drop them because Electrickery, Izzet Staticaster or Detention Sphere become complete board wipes if all I have are spirit tokens.  At least the centaurs provide another type of token to at least partially cover my ass.  I'm thinking even Mayor of Avabruck could be useful to pump up my normal humans and otherwise plop out some wolf tokens.  But it's just a thought.

For the splashing black, I really think that strategy will be much more viable when Orzhov and Gatecrash hit.  Also, I'm not looking to break the bank here picking up Sorin or 4x Lingering Souls.

Personally, I see Trostani being weaker than Jarad and Rakdos, but not any worse than Isperia or Niv 2.0.  You spend three and can create another creature in their end step and also gain life for each creature that enters the battlefield?  I certainly wouldn't complain about that.

Definitely some good ideas - too bad the budget has to cut in to the ideal decks.

Having seen how the populate mechanic works and the value of the 1/1 flying token, I've made some edits to the deck taking it away from soldiers and moving to spirits.  There are still a variety of other options for tokens with Call of the Conclave, Grove of the Guardian, and Garruk, Primal Hunter.

But I'm concerned with it sitting at 65 cards.  What should go here?

That aside, I'm actually thinking Curse of Exhaustion would be great to make its way into the maindeck as it would really help all the instances of populate to overwhelm the enemy (and who runs enchantment removal these days anyway?).

I might just be interested in said Nivmagus Elemental to pair with the one I pulled (he's lonely).  I'll look and see if I have anything you want.

I wish there had been only 26 players where I went.  Record turnout for the LGS is great, but man, 60 people, many of which needing a regimen of ritalin is pretty trying.  Even the Sunday pre-release had 40 something.

I played Golgari and Izzet with my girlfriend playing Golgari and Selesnya.  Neither of us were in the running for top 8, but we pulled like crazy including:

1x Jace, Architect of Thought
1x Vraska the Unseen
1x Lotleth Troll
3x Abrupt Decay
1x Steam Vents
1x Overgrown Tomb
1x Temple Garden

Among others... in all, we had fun, learned what some of the new meta will look like, and by the look of the prices on those cards made double our entry fee.  So that's a win all around.

I have the Supreme Verdict and would possibly be interested in 2-3 Predator Oozes.  But I go by TGC Low prices, so that would mean all three of them.

Let me know if you're interested.

Bummer... In that case I'd say there's where we make room for the graveyard pumping critters.

On a side note, after playing with Lotleth Troll at my pre-release, I am a fan.  But not to the degree that I'd want 4x of them.  Maybe 2x because it's very quick and easy to just start dropping creatures to pump him, only to realize you have no blockers.

Interesting.  Perhaps it would make sense to throw in Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, Ghoultree, Boneyard Wurm, or something like that given the number of creatures in the graveyard?

In two days of pre-release I'm playing Golgari and Izzet.

Personally, black and green have always been colors I've enjoyed and the combos that come out of Corpsejack Menace are just ridiculous.  I'm going with Izzet on day two simply because I'm hoping to get more pieces for a deck that I can use the 2x Talrand, Sky Summoner I've been sitting on for a while.
