I've seen a few cards like those being sold on eBay for anything between $5-$25. Really isn't a set value, as there aren't enough of them in circulation for a stable price.

That albino cards looks rather cool.

While importing two new plains to my collection, I accidentally hit the Apply button a couple of times. Now the number of plains I have has greatly increased, and I'm not quite sure why. Some of the numbers have increased as much as five times.

Is there a simple way to reverse this, or will I need to go back and manually recount them all? Don't think I've made a recent backup that I can easily chekc either.

That's from one of the old World Champion decks that WOTC put out a while back. The idea behind them was each year they'd print special versions of some of the best decks at that years World Championship events. They weren't tournameent legal or anything, but the idea was to give people a chance to play with some of the top decks without having to fork out a small fortune aquiring all the cards.

Currently, there isn't a way to enter these cards into the database here. What I've been doing with those cards is either putting them aside to add later if the database gets expanded, or adding them as an expansion that came aorund around the same time, but classing it as a "promo" card. Not ideal, but it's one way.

Not really sure if those old cards are worth anything or not these days. They weren't very popular at the time, so they might now be considered semi-rare collectables? Not really sure. Any ideas anyone?

I'm not really sure, think it depends on the card. Some are much rarer than others, while others aren't worth much at all. Can be hard to tell, as very few databases have all of them included. Really comes down to searchign around and seeing if anyone else is selling them.

THanks for letting us know, hope the new host works out for you. smile

Worse than Necro? I'd agree with that, but only because Necro is so incredibly powerful.

Any card that lets you draw an extra card each turn, for the measly price of only one life, is good.

That feature seems to be for adding one card at a time. Not for hundreds or thousands.

Ah right, fair enough. If you want to quickly add a whole lot of cards, it can take quite a while. I spent months on and off adding my collection to the site.

There has been talk of adding a feature where you can specift edition/condition/etc when you add multiple cards at once. Not sure when it'll happen, but the idea keeps being thrown around.

Any word on the inventory fix? I've got 6,000+ cards to put in and i need to be able to specify the edition when importing them.

You can already do that mostly. When you go to the Add Cards option, pick the coloured circle tab, which lets you pick the edition, language, condition and a few other thigns about the card. While there are still some things you can't do, and not all promo cards are in the database yet, it's more than suitable for an average collection.

Ah, so that's where they're from. I was in my local card shop looking to buy some old basic lands, and found a couple with that circle M symbol, and a 2010 copyright date. Wasn't sure where they came from.

Quite a few interesting promo cards out there hey.

anyone interested in a misprint Martyrdom (Alliances) (#138)? the border is skewed and there is the top of a red card on the bottom. I can post a pic if there is interest.

Yeah, I'd like to see that.

How are such misprints usually priced? Is there a guide like normal cards, or is it more down ot what people are willing to pay for them?

G'day there,

You deck looks like it would be fun to play with. I gather that your stategy is to draw lots of cards quickly, and get as many instants and sorceries into your graveyard to fuel a Blighted Agent with a Runechanter's Pike?

The one recommendation I'd make for any Infect deck is to run a couple of copies of Mutagenic Growth. The mana doesn't matter as you'd be paying it's alternate (2 life) cost instead. That could help you win if you have trouble getting out the Pike, although with all the card drawing you've got in this deck, I don't think that's too much of a problem. Still, always better to have a back up plan, much like you're already doing with proliferate.

How has the deck been in playtesting?

That type of misprint is called a crimp, and while I have no interest in them, goodluck finding someone!

Oh, so that's what a crimp is. I'd been wondering what those were.

Try reloading the page, by clickign on the inventory tab on the left again. The Show Value function doesn't seem to work in real time, only showing the value of the cards when the database is loaded up.

Does that seem to fix the problem, or is it somethign else?

Yeah, this could be a cool discussion. I love interesting cards that are different than usual, be they misprints or just incredibly rare promos and such.

That blue unicorn is rather neat.

I quite like altered art cards, we've got two nice textless/full art Baneslayer Angels and a few other things. It's hard to value them, as you're not just paying for the card, but the artists work, and that's the subjective part.

When adding them to my collection here, I've just been treating them like I have the other promo cards that don't have a set: labeling them textless and promo. It's more to remind me which ones are which than anything else. Same deal if I've got one autographed by the original artist.

Yeah, the phyrexian mana makes Mutagenic Growth playable in any colour, and can really help push through the last poison counters you need to win.

The Hands are good, but they're more medium/long game, where you want to be able to deal as much damage as quickly as possible. Maybe instead of runnign four of them, swap two out for more equipment or pump spells. As they don't have any evasion of their own, the Hands are more utility cards.

If you were playing green though you'd want to run four copies of Invigorate. They're excellent, as you can use their alternate casting cost with no drawbacks, as your opponants life doesn't matter. My borther had a blue/green infect deck that makes great use of Mytagenic Growth and Invigorate. With them, a single 1/1 unblockable infect creature can take out an opponant in two hits.

If you want to keep it Standard legal, throw some of these in Mutagenic Growth. THey can go a long way towards pushing through the extra poison counters.

Cheers Sebi!

Just had to look up what Type 4 was, but it looks very interesting. http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Magic:_The … ing/Type_4

I don't think you need to worry too much about building a pool of cards that are particularily suited to Type 4, at least not to start with. Just throw together some of your best/favorite/mana-expensive cards, and see which ones work best. I like the idea of being able to use cards which usually cost way too much to play in regular games.

Yeah, buying boxes and booster packs can be more fun, as it's the unknown. However, if you're wanting to save money, or don't have many opportunityies to trade your spares for cards you want, it's better to put together a want list and buy the cards separately.

Here in Australia, booster packs cost $6 each, and boxes from $150-$180. While individual card prices around the world remain pretty much the same. So it's quite rare that we make our moneys worth on booster packs. Most people here buy individual cards, unless we're playing sealed games with the packs.

Yeah, it's interesting how there are so many different types of promo cards that don't appear on most price/set list sites.

It would be very hard to add each single card to such a data base as this one, and not really worth the bother as such information is really only useful for more serious collectors.

However, I recently found this site which has some really interesting information about the rarer cards out there.

Hello again,

Got another suggestion. I like how we can lable a card as foil, promo or textless. Would it be possible to add another option for cards which have been signed by the artist, or otherwise altered?

I've got a couple of cards that have been signed by the cards artist (Well, I hope they have. Otherwise they'vebeen signed by the eBay seller!) and it would be neat to be able to differentiate them from the rest of my collection on this site. Mostly for my benefit, but I imagine that others might like to know that while trading cards and such.

Cheers

This site had the rules for most different forms of the game:

http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/Resour … es/formats

I don't know which formats they use for informal (or less formal) events such as Friday Night Magic though. Your best bet would be to put something together that fits Standard rules, as it should also fit into most of the formats without having to make any changes.

Interesting mix of cards. I like the theme you're going with. I'm not terribly good at deck construction, but here are some of my thoughts:

The Vampire Nighthawks for example are rather quite amazing. Get rid of the 2 Markov Patrician and put in more Nighthawks. They both costs three mana, but the nighthawks will last longer and are more of a threat with their death touch. Gatekeeper of Malakir are useful too.

Malakir Bloodwitch and Anowon, the Blood Sage would bet better choices for your high mana cost spots. The Bloodline Keeper from the latest expansion would work nicely too.

Look into Urge to Feed instead of Dead Weight. It can still kill something small, and can make your creatures bigger. However, as Dismember would work better, but they're most expensive to buy.

Might want to add another couple of lands. See how it plays out though, might not be a problem, most of your cards have low mana costs.

You've only got 10 red cards, I'd almost consider taking them all out and sticking only to black cards. Into the Maw of Hell and Night Reveleres are rather expensive for what they do. Better to find another more useful vampire, and add another cheap kill card. A Go for the Throat or two perhaps.

As a fairly new player, I imagine you just play with your friends? Card legality isn't a big deal if you're just playing for fun. I've been playing on and off for nearly 10 years now, and most of my decks aren't legal in any tournament format. They don't always win, but they're still fun to play with.
