SHORT DESCRIPTION

Pretty straightfoward EDH deck, choices of either Rasputin or Hanna as commanders.

This deck is exclusively multiplayer, it does not have the staying power to survive in 1v1 EDH games.

The deck has varied elements and interactions, I won't cover them all but I will go over some examples and how the deck works.

THE GOAL

Lock the game up and grab your win piece, the key to rasputin shutdown is to disrupt your opponents tempo while gaining card advantage to end with a finisher. This U/W lockdown has specific card types that I will break down in point format, they are as follows:

- Tempo -  Too many cards to mention but the key idea is anything that slows your opponent down and sometimes the game down, it's best used when you would not be harmed by it's effects. Examples would be dropping winter orb after bringing out rasputin, normally only untapping one land a turn would be harmful to us but rasputin acts as his own mana battery keeping our pools of mana nice and full. Further addition of tempo often brings the game to a crawl, just be careful not to step on your own toes and limits yourself with it. Blood clock is excellent for returning un-needed tempo cards back to your hand.

- Card advantage - Draw power that your opponent does not benefit from, netting you a larger hand and thus more options. Mind's eye and Honden of seeing winds are prime examples of cards that will net you handsize advantage over your opponent.

-Tutors- Any card that directly fetches from your deck to gain a card you desire, blue and white have tutors that focus on instants and sorceries. Transmute also allows you to attain cards you may need, it's helpful to keep a list in your mind of cards that transmute can get you as transmute is limited to fetching cards equal to the converted mana cost of card being pitched for the effect.

-Answers- Although a limited amount of the total card pool is answers they often are a necessity in elder dragon highlander, a few specific answers are packed into this deck to deal with specific archtypes of decks or just are staple EDH panic buttons. Key examples would be graffdiggers cage to deal with decks that "cheat" creatures into play and mirroweave which is often used to disrupt all commanders currently in play.

-"Grace" cards- I call them this because these cards are often your saving graces, they keep your permanents in play as static permanent effects are by large a good portion of the deck's strength. Good examples of grace cards would be Cloud Cover and Faith's reward.

-Win Conditions-  Although one could argue that commander damage is a possible win condition, rasputin or hanna are not likely to be barrelling down the fast track to getting the 21 points necessary to confirm a playerkill. Decimator web and memnarch are the two main kills. The web kills opponents either through eventual life loss, deck thinning or poison counters, while memnarch steals permanents on the board and usually takes the game by playquits.

BRIEF SUM UP

In summary this deck favours players who take their time and manage resources well, without people to play off of this deck would not function in multiplayer so you have to learn how to avoid drawing Ire from too many sources until you have no choice but to lay down the law lockpeice after lockpeice.
