Notes

Thromok is a typical Gruul aggro commander with an ability that appeals to my inner Timmy.  I wanted to make a deck that brings out his strengths with token generators and disposable ramp creatures that search out basics and then get sacrificed.  However, I don't want the deck to be totally dependent on its commander.  There are many ways you could take the deck beyond this (Saproling tribal, anyone?), but I've always wanted to play with the green and red planeswalkers, so I wanted to put those guys in.  I also wanted to play with some of green's notorious fatties (Avenger, Craterhoof, etc), and so I put in a birthing pod so I could go up the chain, as well as a bunch of other tutor spells.

The way I want this deck to work is: ramp into a decent manabase, throw down Thromok when I have some sort of haste enabler out and attempt to swing for 25 or so, then when he inevitably gets killed, sacrifice him to either momentous fall or greater good to draw a bunch of cards, then hit 8 mana and start throwing haymakers like insurrection, warp world, praetor's counsel, craterhoof, etc.

Where I get into trouble with deckbuilding is trying to account for all kinds of contingencies (What about removal? Gotta put in hexproof/shroud/indestructible.  What about defending against flyers? What about countermagic?  What about board wipes?).  Then I end up throwing a bunch of crap in the deck that makes it less effective at what it does.  You'll see some of that stuff in there, but for example:

Vexing Shusher
Asceticism
Eldrazi Monument
Akroma’s Memorial
Beast Within
Duplicant
Terastodon

These are all cards I felt I had to add to address various threats.

Where I could use help is with someone who has played a lot of commander before, let me know which of the contingencies I should account for, which cards I should add to account for those, and help me free up the rest of the deck.  I could also use help picking maybe one or two directions to go with the deck and focusing on those, instead of trying to do everything at once and doing it poorly.

Oh man, my whole comment seems to have not sent last time...

A few cards I'm not a fan of: Arbor Elf, Farhaven Elf. Ondu Giant, Quirion Trailblazer, Wort, Fling, Growth Spasm, Beacon of Creation, Overabundance, Saproling Burst, Sarkhan Vol. They tend to not do much in this deck, or are inferior to other choices.

I'm a big fan of Dragon Broodmother and Verdant Force in this deck. They can often produce an army by themselves, and they keep Thromok relevant after board wipes. Ant Queen is another card that gives your mana relevance late-game. Speaking of mana, you should probably run Cultivate and Kodama's reach; they smooth your land drops and accelerate, making them a step above the land-tutor dorks.

I like the idea of having a token themed deck and having your commander as a backup plan. For tokens, it's worth considering cards like Slate of Ancestry, Collective Unconscious, or Regal Force to draw cards and keep your game relevant. Finishers like Overwhelming Stampede and Craterhoof can be surprise game-enders. Not a big fan of Eldrazi Monument due to the sacrifice clause, but if it works leave it in. Hearbeat of Spring, Mana Flare, and Rites of Flourishing are better enchantments for ramping than Overabundance.

For producing a board to feed to Thromok, a few additional great options include Master of the Wild Hunt and Hornet Nest. Lightning Greaves is some nice redundancy to protect Thromok and give him haste.

Don't worry too much about having answers to all of the game's problems. Your current silver bullets of Shusher, Beast WIthin, Duplicant, and Terastodon seem fine. If you're particularly concerned about dealing with board states, artifact wraths like Perilous Vault and the Gruul spell Decimate might keep you in control when needed. Having consistency is important in commander, but the few answers you do have seem like an appropriate number.

The deck looks fun and powerful! Hope to see it come together the way you want it to.
