Maybe something like 1-2 Elves of Deep Shadow and a Wall of Roots or 2?

I've been trying to decide what would best fill that slot... I'm thinking Arbor Elf would work nicely, especially considering I can't really afford Noble Hierarchs.

Bump.

I'm not exactly sure how you would go about working it in, but I think Elspeth, Knight-Errant would fit beautifully. I ran a deck similar to this back in the day, and it was glorious. I also wonder how Battlegrace Angel might fit; I think it would be worth experimenting with.

One thing I notice immediately is the inclusion of 4 Burning-Tree Emissary. I can understand that getting the free creature and 2 devotion to red is very tempting; however, I can't help but question how effective it can be, given that it generates off-color mana for you. Also, I notice that you haven't included any Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. Is there a reason for that?

Bump. Also, I recognize that Deathrite Shaman has been banned, but I'm going to leave it in the list for the moment... At least until I've updated my inventory.

I've been fascinated with this deck ever since I first saw it in action, so I decided to take a shot at building one for myself. I'd appreciate any and all feedback this community can offer! big_smile

The deck: http://deckbox.org/sets/591966

In particular, I'm not sure what to do with the sideboard.

I'm still on the hunt for stuff I need for an America Control build I'm working on. Here's a link to my tradelist: http://deckbox.org/sets/365786
I'm mostly looking for lands and for Sphinx's Revelations.

I'm in need of a bunch of stuff for an America Control build for Modern. This includes:

* 3 Arid Mesa
* 4 Celestial Colonnade
* 1 Glacial Fortress
* 2 Hallowed Fountain
* 1 Sacred Foundry
* 2 Sulfur Falls
* 3 Tectonic Edge
* 1 Clifftop Retreat
* 1 Restoration Angel
* 2 Sphinx's Revelation
* 2 Think Twice
* 1 Batterskull

In addition, I'm always looking for shocklands, as I am trying to get a playset of each. Among my notable haves are:

* 2 Vendilion Clique (NOTE: I may need to be coaxed into trading the second one)
* 1 Snapcaster Mage
* 1 Scavenging Ooze
* 1 Deathrite Shaman
* 1 Cryptic Command
* 1 Pact of Negation
* And much more!

If you wanted to be "that guy," you might include a Curiosity for the infinite combo with Niv-Mizzet.

Thanks for the link! That definitely helps. As a matter of fact, I think I have the Electrolyzes and Mana Leaks.

I'm looking to build a second Modern deck, and I'm considering going with an America Control build. I've already got some of the obvious inclusions like Snapcaster Mage, Lightning Helix, Lightning Bolt, and possibly Path to Exile. What else might I need to get a deck like this off the ground, and does anyone have a decklist they might be willing to share to give me some inspiration?

Just my two cents:

I don't use star city pricing, it's extremely over inflated and just a waste of time, same goes for tcg high prices.

For trades what I look to for APPROXIMATE value is TCG mid, for cash sales/purchases i compare Ebay and TCG low.

Ive traveled to about a dozen shops across NY/NJ and most people follow this as well.

The general conclusion is to ignore star city.

The trouble I have with this is twofold:

1) I've personally found that, for stuff of larger value, TCG mid is too volatile and unreliable; Star City tends to be more accurate for such things (as far as I'm concerned). An example: TCG mid places Scalding Tarn around $54 and Vendilion Clique from $45 to $47, whereas on Star City, Scalding Tarn is listed for $50 and Vendilion Clique for $60. The fact that TCG places a higher value on Tarn than on Clique while Star City does the opposite tells me that Clique is undervalued on TCG (and that Tarn is slightly inflated).

2) While I've never used Ebay for price comparisons, it seems to me that doing so introduces unnecessary variables into the equation, considering that Ebay isn't a dedicated trading card vendor.

Just a thought.

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to using tcg as a price guide (I used to just use SCG since I felt they had a better idea of the market). Looking at tcg mid there are some cards that seem artificially inflated due to ridiculous "high" listings (i.e. $92 Bob, $170 Jace, etc.) When there are too few listings or a large amount of these "extreme" outliers the average price can be greatly effected (via math). I feel it inflates the card price in a way that's not truly reflective of it's price.

I guess my question is how do people on this site deal with that? When I even hint at a card having a distorted value in a trade the other guy gets really defensive and sometimes just cancels the trade. Is discussing value outside of TCG mid just a taboo or what? I'm new here so I'm just curious.

I've noticed that some cards seem to have unnaturally deflated values as well ($45 Vendilion Clique, for example--vs $60 at SCG). Generally, though, the differences in price between TCG mid and SCG balance out when comparing two or more cards, so it tends to be easier to just go with the TCG mid. There are obvious exceptions, though.

Bump...

I have two questions:

1) Is your price negotiable or firm?

2) Would you be at all interested in working out a trade plus cash/PayPal, or do you want money only?

Well, I was also prepared to offer 100 basic lands, but if that's no longer on the table, I'm afraid I'm no longer interested.

Which basic lands do you need the most, or are you looking for more of an even spread? I have way too many to keep track of, and I'd be happy to send you some for your Liliana.

Is there anything else you're looking for besides Mistys?
