Despite the above reasoning, the shaman is not a good card, and the Archangel was better when the creature count was higher. Board wipes and card draw in to help with getting back into the game.

Neither effect was really that appealing anymore, the deck has shifted away from aggro voltron to a more controlling build. Etali is in for testing for the card advantage, assault is a cheap repeatable extra combat effect.

The deck runs very few angels now, and the Herald doesn't help cast our commander ahead of curve. The Paladin is a fragile version of Duelist's Heritage, without the political upside. Spirit helps bring other decks down to our level and is fetchable off Enlightened Tutor, also added another cheap board wipe.

Bruse provided a nice chunk of lifegain in some games, but didn't help if there were no good attacks, or an opponent combo'd off. Shielded by Faith was a little cute, and wasn't worth it just for indestructible. Helm is a two card combo with the commander, and boots for added protection.

Flagstones is an upgrade to a plains which works with the MLD in the deck. There's no good targets for deflecting palm in the meta at present, so it always feels like a dead card. Added theft for combo consistency and Breach for recursion, as we don't use the graveyard otherwise.
