Led by Talrand, Sky Summoner, the "Depths of Power" deck specializes in casting instants and sorceries. If you've got Talrand on the battlefield, then any time you cast an instant or sorcery spell, Talrand creates a flying Drake token creature for you. Card-drawing spells like Divination and creature-control spells like Sleep now double as a means to victory! Augur of Bolas and Archaeomancer help out by finding more instants and sorceries for you to cast.

Your plan is to relentlessly attack through the air with an army of Drakes, such as Wind Drake or any of the tokens created by Talrand's Invocation or Talrand himself, while the rest of your deck keeps your opponent off balance. Use defensive creatures like Kraken Hatchling and Fog Bank to slow your opponent's attack. If the game goes long enough, summoning gigantic sea monsters like Harbor Serpent and Stormtide Leviathan will quickly end the game.

Red's brute force is the perfect complement to blue's trickery. Searing Spear and Turn to Slag deal enough damage to destroy most creatures, and Searing Spear can even finish off an opponent who's low enough on life!

If you've got an affinity for this deck, you may be ready to modify it to your liking. Spelltwine ramps the deck's instant and sorcery themes into overdrive: it's a sorcery that lets you recast an instant or sorcery card from your graveyard, as well as one from your opponent's graveyard. Sphinx of Uthuun is a huge flier that puts more cards into your hand. And Jace, Memory Adept is a formidable planeswalker with powerful card-drawing abilities.
