Notes

Getting to Pestilence is almost always how this deck wins. In the creature heavy meta of Pauper an active Pestilence will get you there most of the time. Use Read the Bones and Disciple of Grace to try and find it. The deck can go on the beat down plan with a Vile Deacon to speed up the clock and Scholar of Athreos will sometimes take the final points of your opponent's life. The deck is pretty rough on mulligans but you are being too liberal with your keeps Dan! Take your normal approach but try not to mull yourself into oblivion. Every creature in the deck has at least 3 toughness or pro black so you can activate Pestilence 2 times per turn, the only trick is with Vile Deacon where you have to attack to make it a 3/3 then activate Pestilence at instant speed.

Delver Fae
-2 Daunting Defender, -1 Vile Deacon | +1 Dead Weight, +2 Kor Sanctifiers
Pretty rough match up if they tempo you out. Try to kill the Delvers if possible.

MBC
-3 Doom Blade | +1 Dead Weight, +2 Chainer's Edict
You are well positioned in game one due to your pro black guys, just replace the Doom Blades for game two. Consider Nihil Spellbomb if they are using the graveyard.

Burn
-1 Daunting Defender, -4 Pestilence | +3 Duress, +2 Temple Acolyte
You have enough life gain it just doesn't happen all that quickly. If you survive the first few turns the match gets easier.

Kuldotha Boros
-2 Disciple of Grace, -2 Doom Blade | +2 Kor Sanctifiers, +2 Chainer's Edict
Consider Nihil Spellbomb if they are using the graveyard.

Goblins
-2 Vile Deacon, -1 Unmake | +2 Temple Acolyte, +1 Dead Weight
This deck is designed to crush weenie strategies. Use your life total as a resource as they don't tend to run too much direct damage.

RUG Tron
-2 Disciple of Grace, -2 Obsidian Acolyte, -1 Pestilence | +3 Duress, +2 Rancid Earth
The game will go long and you can actually deal with most of their threats. It's important to get their Rolling Thunders with discard as that is the most likely kill condition. They stop you from winning with Fangren Marauder so that is a secondary Castigate target.

Dimir Teachings
-3 Doom Blade, -2 Pestilence  | +3 Duress, +2 Nihil Spellbomb
Getting your pro-black guys down through the counterspells is your best chance to win so it's important to play Disciple of Grace rather than to cycle it. Try to exile Crypt Rats and Twisted Abomination with Unmake/Castigate if they present you with the oppurtunity.

Eye Candy
-2 Daunting Defender, -2 Vile Deacon, -2 Unmake | +3 Duress, +1 Dead Weight, +2 Chainer's Edict
Take out their protection with discard then kill their creatures. Not to bad of a match up but sometimes they just have the nut draw.

Affinity
-2 Vile Deacon, -2 Disciple of Grace | +3 Kor Sanctifiers, +1 Dead Weight
Tough if they come out fast and tough if they stick Atog. Best shot is lots of removal and hope they stumble on card draw.

White Warriors
No sideboarding for standard lists but consider Chainer's Edict if they have protection from black.
This deck is designed to beat weenie decks, you should beat decks like this unless you have really bad shuffle luck.

Counterburn
-2 Disciple of Grace, -3 Vile Deacon | +1 Dead Weight, +2 Duress, +2 Temple Acolyte
Take out those Delvers and try to keep yourself out of burn range.

Infect
-2 Daunting Defender, -2 Vile Deacon, -2 Unmake | +3 Duress, +1 Dead Weight, +2 Chainer's Edict
Take out their protection with discard then kill their creatures. Not to bad of a match up but sometimes they just have the nut draw.

Domain Zoo
-1 Vile Deacon, -2 Disciple of Grace | +2 Rancid Earth, +1 Kor Sanctifiers
Fighting over Domain slows them down but you also need to win. Pestilence hits a lot of their guys so save spot removal for things like Match Rioters and Aura Gnarlid. Consider Nihil Spellbomb if they are using the graveyard.

RDW
-2 Disciple of Grace, -1 Scholar of Athreos, -1 Unmake, -1 Vile Deacon | +3 Duress, +2 Temple Acolyte, +1 Dead Weight
Like the burn match up except they play more creatures so the spot removal is live.

Hexproof Auras
-3 Unmake, -2 Doom Blade | +3 Kor Sanctifiers +2 Chainer's Edict
Take out the targeted removal. As long as you keep them from assembling Voltron early, a Pestilence should keep all their 1/1's at bay.

Suicide Black
-3 Doom Blade | +1 Dead Weight, +2 Chainer's Edict
