  • What's the general pace? Do things typically get rolling early, or do things really start rolling on or after turn three?

  • What breakdown of land/creatures/other spells is recommended?

  • Can any other Legendary Creatures be included in the deck, or only the commander?

  • While things vary with each hand, typically how many turns do you see in a commander match?

  • Because the card variety is so great, are there any construction tips for achieving consistent results?

  • Does the deck size/play format affect how you look at your mana curve (i.e., do you include more higher cost creatures because you are more likely to get them into play)?

My 2 cents:

1. With the group I play with, it's usually 3-4 or later before a bunch starts happening.  You can get some action earlier but most peoples' commanders cost 3+.
2. I usually do 35-40 lands, other than that it's kind of dependent on your commander whether you have a Kiki-Jiki or goblin deck and want to go heavy creatures, or a Talrand and want a whole lot of spells.
3. Other legendaries are fine, only one of them is your "commander"
4. Huge variation, I have been in some games that lasted an hour+ because turns were taking 15 minutes each.  On the flip side, the last game I played I only got 4 turns or so while the other guy riku'd a time stretch and some other turn manipulation and destroyed me before I got a 5th turn.
5. I wish I knew.
6. Usually, yes.  There are many more ways to cheat creatures into play as well, and you have to figure your opponents will have lots of large creatures so you have to have a means to compete.  Even if it's a bunch of stuff with deathtouch, etc...

My problem with the Star City standards is that they treat a bit of whiting around the edges the same as someone taking a sharpie to the card and marking all around the edge..  or being bent in a binder.

http://www.blackborder.com/cgi-bin/cust … dition.cgi is the other one I see used around here.

Sent a trade for one each of the RTR preview cards.

Interested in the Jarad and the Life From the Loam.

It has worked fine for me in Firefox as I'm weeding through my commons and uncommons.

The Barnes and Noble near me has probably 5 or 6 of these as well, original packaging, and $20.

It's usually a bit after the cards make it into the official Gatherer database.  IvG isn't in there yet, probably not until they come out this Friday.

Just got some new cards in, take a look and see if we can work something out.

There is a big difference between big boxes and something like a bubble mailer.  I have done a few trades with Canadians and it hasn't been a problem at all, besides not being able to get delivery confirmation.  Even the customs form is not a big deal, you just say what's in there, give a value, and sign it.

Costs are very similar, maybe a buck or two but nothing significant.  You have to go to a counter, you can't use the automatic postage center.

I do have some of the sphinx stuff you want, but you require US people to send first even though you have 0 feedback...

I sent you a trade request.

The problem with trading a bunch of cheap stuff, especially if I don't have a lot of it on someone's list, is that it takes forever to add up to be worth postage.

When I want little stuff like this, I just pop up the page for it and see who has it in their tradelist.  It doesn't work perfectly though, because a bunch of people that pop up either haven't been online lately or are set to local-only hmm

RESPOND TO MY TRADE, don't just blow it off

I'm new here and this is what has bothered me the most. If I don't know why the trade doesn't work for you, how am I going to know what would work? I'll probably just never bother trying to trade with you ever again.

Thanks for posting this, good to read and good to emphasise for everyone.

Make sure to mouse over the little icon next to the person's name, it'll show when the person last logged in.  I have had to cancel a lot of trades because the person hasn't logged in for a month+.

That's crazy, stores in Omaha are sellling Zendikar boosters for $5 or so.  I got a whole lot in the wal-mart booster 3-packs a month ago, so around 3.66 each.

edit: check TCG player, there are a bunch of packs at $4 or less each.

It's useful for trading and for wishlist, but if you just want to track your inventory I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I'm also interested.

Good question, I had just agreed to trade mine off last night for 60 something.

I agree AVR for money cards.  Dark Ascension has been falling in price really severely, so you can easily trade for whatever you want from that set.  Huntsmaster of the Fells is the only card that's holding value right now.

So I've found myself in a spot where I could use some extra cash, so I decided to see if anyone is interested in some of these cards. Minimum sale is $15 via Paypal gift. The reason I ask for $15 minimum is because I will send it in top loaders + bubble mailer with delivery confirmation included in the cost of purchase (and give you the tracking #). Paypal details etc discussed/confirmed over private msg.

  • 1 Jace, the Mind Sculptor - $45

  • 1 Grim Monolith - SP $18

Thinking about these.

I pulled a Thragtusk for trade, as well as Nicol Bolas, Garruk, Jace, Stuffy Doll, Gilded Lotus, Rootbound Crag, foil Glacial Fortress, Akroma's Memorial, and a Silklash Spider.

I need an Ajani and an Elderscale Wurm.

My haves/wants are updated, too.

I have traded away a decent pile of commons and uncommons on here.  You had better be organized though, if someone wants commons the odds are that they want a lot of them and it can take forever to find them.

Organized?

I have mine sorted by color and then first-letter alphabetized, but you can see how many thousands of un/commons I have listed.  I just mean that if you just have some randomly mixed boxes you'll hate yourself spending 15 minutes finding a card worth $0.10 in trade value.

I have the Garruk and Liliana from the duel deck.  I would be willing to trade them for their Lorwyn versions (preferred) or M10/M11.
