I go to the card database, filter for the set I want to see, and just fill in my wishlist numbers there.

It was a bit easier when one could just click in the wishlist column, but it still can be done.

I've suggested using collector's numbers for a while, as a way to get past the language barrier (no need to translate the title).

When you go through the next revision of the site, I'd like to see one enhancement to Inventory navigation (likely applicable to Tradelist and Wishlist views, too): Instead of just  First, Next, Previous, and Last, please use page numbers. Use angle brackets to designate first/next/previous/last.  For example:

     <<  <  7  8  9  10  [11]  12  13  14  15   >  >>

The example shows someone viewing page 11 of their inventory, with the ability to jump to any of the other visible numbers, the previous, next, first, and last pages.  Personally, I'd like to see lots of numbers in the navigation tool, to help me jump to specific points in my inventory (e.g., where I estimate the cards starting with "S" begin).

Alternately, a bot to let one jump to a specific page number would be great.

Arguably, my best option here to just export my collection to a CSV, and use that as the template for entering the rest of my cards. But in the future, what if I crack a pack and enter the new cards all at once?

Personally, I would do the export, clear everything but the label row, and save it as a template on my machine.  Then you just need to remember the order of the labels and you'll be able to type the cards in (using Notepad, or something similar).

Thanks for raising the topic.  My wife noticed those girl-on-girl playmats in the banner ad and was not too pleased.

Just a guess, but I believe it is likely because one or both parties have card details in their wishlists/tradelists.  Sebi and Laura are planning changes to fix a lot in the trade interface later this month.  I realize that is no help right now, but it does let you know that they are working on issues.

Browser: Chrome v. 23.0.1271.97 m

Issue: During any session, after adding my first card to inventory, the Date Added column disappears.

Note: If I change the sort to use date (most recent first) before going into the Import > Cards, the column still disappears after adding the first card, but the sort order stays correct.

***UPDATE: I got the cards I needed. Thank you for your interest.***

Okay.  I received a $50 gift code for CoolStuffInc.com last week (I must have been on the nice list wink.  I planned to buy Goblin Sharpshooter, but they are sold out.

If you are in the US and have Goblin Sharpshooters you can trade, shoot me a proposal, and note what you want in the trade chat (assuming it is not currently in my trade list).  I'll buy the card(s) you want, and then we can conduct a regular mail trade.

I've been contemplating the same question myself.  I got a $50 CoolStuffInc.com gift code, and have been trying to figure out what to buy (especially since Goblin Sharpshooter is out of stock).  I thought about the RtR shock lands, but I've also recently started playing EDH, so found lots of cards I'd like to have.

[SIGH]

I guess it is a good problem to have.

Anyone looking for something I can buy for you, to trade for your Goblin Sharpshooters? Perhaps I'll post a thread on that in my trade community...

Thanks for the great update, it looks much better, some things  (like adding and editing cards) seem to be harder but maybe I'll have to get used to it. The only thing I want to ask (and somebody asked about it before) is: Is it possible to have the same cards in one row in inventory? If I have, let's say two copies of the same card but from different editions, they are listed separately making the list much longer. To be honest I don't really care about the editions but rather how many copies I have. Is it possible to switch views to make it in one row? Here's what I mean:

e.g. now I have
1 Detonate - 5th
1 Detonate - 4th
1 Detonate - Mirrodin

I'd prefer:
3 Detonate - 5th, 4th, Mirrodin

This is a tough one, because other players may care about seeing quantities per card.  Using your example, what if you had a different quantity of 4th ed. Detonate? Per your preference, you'd see:

     4 Detonate - 5th, 4th, Mirrodin

Others may want to know how many of each:

     1 Detonate - 5th
     2 Detonate - 4th
     1 Detonate - Mirrodin

I think, long term, it would be great if the cards were in collapsible rows (or something similar):

     Detonate (4)
      +- 5th E. (1)
      +- 4th Ed. (2)
      +- Mirrodin (1)

Those who want the details get them, but those who don't can see the total quantity on a single line.

A brief bug, but one that was in release 1 as well: Séance has no price at all.

I believe this has to do with the spelling over at the TCGPlayer site vs. that listed here.  One of the two doesn't use the accented 'e'.  As such, the card does not map properly to the corresponding card at TCGPlayer (the source of the pricing information).

Thanks for the explanation, Sebi.  I figured it was something like that.

As to the broader discussion, it really depends on the card and edition.  Sometime, like when I'm trying to complete specific playsets, which editions I trade for (or away) does matter.  For other cards, like when building EDH decks, it doesn't matter as often.  I'm one who previously advocated for things like a button to mark all quantities over X (e.g., anything higher than 4) as available for trade.

Personally, I would love to have the option to specify a "Not available for trade" flag, but that's just one stubborn fool's opinion.

I think the updates are all moving in the right direction, Sebi.  Bravo! [And brava! to you, Laura.] The next few weeks will get some bugs sorted out, and then you'll be able to consider design refinements and enhancements.  Make sure you get some rest!, and thanks again.

...I figure that multiple posts let you know what people care about.  It would be great to collapse the inventory view to card name only, just like the previous version of deckbox.  While there are times that I would want to see all my different Giant Growths listed out, I usually just want to see how many I have.

Personally, I hope we can get to the best-of-both-worlds solution: where each card name can collapse down to the basic view (name, counts, average price, etc.), but can also be displayed by edition and details.

madoli wrote:

When the only difference between cards is the date added, I would prefer not to see them displayed separately.  Others might not like this idea, but I would suggest that when I add a card, every card in my inventory with the same name would have its "Date Added" field updated.  That way, they would be grouped together.

I've noticed that they do appear differently when first added, but they do consolidate after refreshing my inventory (if all the same details).  Would you check to see if that is the same for you?

Sebi, take a look at my Inventory for Sejiri Refuge .  When looking at the card details via the card database (for MTG), there is an entry in my inventory list with a quantity of -1, for a card with no edition details.

Let's keep it civil, folks.  My own experience with shipping internationally is that it can often take four or more weeks (six weeks once, US to Canada, and I live in a state right across the border).

As to appearing online, is it possible that a system that hibernated while active on the site may ping the servers again when the machine is powered back on, only to do the same again at the next hibernate?

As has been mentioned before, communicate frequently.  If out for a series of weeks, place a note in your profile.

I'll suggest to Sebi that we add a status field that will appear on all trade screens, so that all parties may be kept informed without needing to message each one separately.

Yeah being able to have the site remember my info was handy. I'm more confused as to how I get my inventory to show me my cards in the "most recently added" format that the previous "Add Cards" widgety thing was nice enough to inform me about if I wasn't already using it.

+1 to this.

I found that I could sort by date added if I started on my inventory screen.  If I went to add cards after doing that, it kept displaying them by the date (most recent).  When I first tried to add inventory, it didn't give me that option at all (no date column was visible).

I've not been on much with the holidays and all, and was very excited to see the new interface up and running.  Great work, Sebi!

Your profile lists that you will trade within your own country, but your location is set to "Unknown Location".  You may want to update that field to include your location, as traders don't know which country is your country.

If you have only a few items in your inventory (so that the list is not very long--doesn't require a lot of scrolling), if you try to edit the version of the card (via card details), the edition chooser bleeds off the bottom of the page, making it impossible to see edition options that fall below the bottom bound of the screen.

I also tried this in Chrome and FF, but for me the page becomes a bit longer when the menu appears, and you can scroll it a bit more. This is on a mac though, might be a different behaviour on windows I suppose. Will check again when fixing the IE bugs smile

FYI--my max resolution on my laptop is 1440x900.

Santa couldn't bring me a new laptop this year.  :-(

Does it make more sense to have an import/export menu, rather than an import menu and export residing under  the view menu?

+1 to this.

Finding it under "View" is a bit counter-intuitive.

daishy wrote:

Nice to test the new version smile
I'm especially psyched about the new importfeature, so i tested it first, but run into some trouble:

Got a test.csv with the following content:

Count, Tradelist Count, Name, Foil, Textless, Promo, Signed, Edition, Condition, Language
1, 0, Telepathy,,,,,Eighth Edition,Near Mint,English

Checking the file gives me the following error:

Error: The header of the csv file is not correct. Please check that the columns in your file match the following: ["Count", "Tradelist Count", "Name", "Foil", "Textless", "Promo", "Signed", "Edition", "Condition", "Language"]

So i tried importing an export i just made from my data, which gave me the same error.
Also i noticed, the file to import is named as c:\fakeroot\test.csv. I'm running a Linux with Chromium (And just checked with firefox, same problem) Anyone else run into this trouble or has any clues how to solve this?

Edit:
Sure, just after i hit sent i try another thing and it works tongue
So, as it seems the header has to be without spaces for the import to work (Which is not the case in the export-file also). Maybee insert a `trim` call after splitting the csv-header?

Just wanted to check if you were using the column headings inside quotation marks.

Stick, are you opposed to a B/R Goblins deck instead of mono Red?  Wort, Boggart Auntie makes a mean Goblin general and opens up a lot of options for you with black.

I'll need to give it a look.  I've only been playing EDH about a month.  It is a lot of fun so far!

UPDATE: I have had a copy of Wort on my wishlist for a while.  I just haven't gotten one yet.

I think I have a Wort lying around that I could send you, I'm not a goblin fan myself

I'll let you know if I need it--I took some time and shot out some trade proposals after reviewing this thread.

Well if you don't like long games you probably shouldn't play EDH, especially not in a group...

Your best bet to make games short would be to make a red deck, Goblins if you want a chance to win or anything else if you're ok with losing pretty much every time since red is quite bad in EDH.

While I've not been winning (best finish has been 3rd out of 10), I'm running an all-red, mostly-goblins deck with Jaya Ballard as my commander.  She can nail every creature and player for six.    While there  aren't as many red cards that affect everyone, some simple ones like Electrickeryand Mizzium Mortars are great from the recent block.

Then again, I guess I'm just partial to red.
