I have a Boros and an Azorius deck built, waiting for preorder cards (except commons and uncommons, since I got a box too) to be completed. I didn't consider the new Elspeth for a second for either. For six mana I can have Aetherling or Aurelia, who are both likely to finish the game quicker than Elspeth SC. Heck, for just one mana more, I can use Angel of Serenity.

I'm looking for some older cards.  Specifically I need the following commons and uncommons to finish a deck I'm working on.  These need to be in English and the edition specified.

3 Blood Lust - Legends
1 Giant Growth Alpha preferred, but Beta would be ok.  (Alpha just matches the other three I have on the way)
4 Juggernaut - Unlimited
1 Channel - Beta (I could also settle for Unlimited, but I don't want newer ones).
4 Ghazbán Ogre - Arabian Nights
3 Whirling Dervish - Legends
1 Strip Mine - Antiquities - Sky with Even Terraces (which is the same art as the 4th edition ones)
2 Fireball - Alpha or Beta

Also have lots of other things on my wish list, but these little cards are actually my higher priority wants at the moment.  I'm also interested in shock lands and check lands.

Alright, sorry for taking so long. All I have extras of is the Beta Giant Growth

Thought I had a bunch of Ghazban Ogres and Blood Lusts, along with Juggernauts and an extra Unlimited Channel, but I guess not sad

Unfortunately with box mapping being a thing, it is going to be hard to convince people to trade for these at face value

Totally would make sense for me to have mapped a dozen packs over 6 sets. Thank you for your concern.

I don't think he was accusing you - he was probably just saying that if you have loose packs without stating where they came from, there's always a significant risk they were mapped before you even got them.

Will check when I get home - think I may have quite a few of these laying around unless I sold them :-/

Bump.

What the topic says...

Aurelia is currently top priority, followed by Sacred Foundry, so if you see stuff you want, let me know.

Wouldn't it have just been easier to just list them in your inventory than make a spreadsheet?

I had already created the sheet before I found out about this site

It's actually possible to import a CSV file into this site fairly easily. You just need to arrange the columns in the spreadsheet correctly and remove the ones that don't belong (and then obviously turn it into a CSV).

Lots of people play FNM on Fridays, so that might be hard for some people. If you guys are from Buffalo and want to get more involved in the Magic community/find more players, you should check out The Slam Dunklers Podcast. They talk about Buffalo Magic and actually are working on an EDH project and looking for people with ideas.

Facebook.com/TheSlamDunklers

They are actually doing a live show at Dave and Adams for their FNM tonight. Free pack per player, free pizza, free raffles. You should come check it out

Sweet!  I wonder if Dave and Adams still has part of my collection that I sold to them almost a year ago.  One day, when the Sabres play on a Saturday i'll get out there for a FNM.

You might want to wait til the Sabres arent as painful to watch. You'll get more for you money when you drive up here smile

One of the better non-Avalanche hockey games I've been to was Sabres home opener in 2006 vs Canadiens. Also the only time I've seen fist fights in multiple places in a crowd.

Something I thought of this weekend regarding the machinable issue: there are a lot of greeting cards that don't require extra postage that are about as stiff (if not more so) than a toploader with three MTG cards. Perhaps that's why some of us in this forum haven't reported any issues?

Greeting cards cost the extra 20¢.  The post office even makes seasonal greeting card stamps (with lots of silly designs for different occasions)

Just go pick up some 20¢ stamps from the PO.  Can you really not afford that?  Why is it pricing that difficult to understand?  It is what it is.  Quit being cheap.

I went down to my local PO today with an envelope filled with a toploader with 3 cards. I asked if it was machinable. The lady working said yes, it wasn't too thick. All it needed was a regular stamp; this was coming directly from the post office employee. Why would you add extra postage to something. Not wasting money isn't the same thing as being cheap. I wouldn't go to the store and pay an extra 40% for my total bill, why would I do it with stamps?

No employee has ever told me that an envelope with a top loader in it is machinable - they always point out that it's too rigid and use their "Nonmachinable" stamp. I ended up buying 66 cent stamps because they suggested that it would be easier with how often I came in.

I've had to add 20 cents a total of 8 times in the last year or so, no big deal, but I pointed it out because it was starting to happen a little bit too often. I've only mentioned it to the trader the last couple of times I think (it's possible I said something one of the first times too), but probably should've said something every single time.

What set are the Stasis from?

Probably the same people that use priority boxes inside of brown paper and the like (which is actually a felony.  You're stealing from the USPS)

Seriously? I knew you couldn't use them for other stuff, but last time I used a Medium Priority Flat Rate box to send to Sweden, the manager at the post office said I'd be better off just buying one of their other (non-priority) boxes and sticking the flat rate box inside of it and shipping it, so I did, right in front of her - it saved me $20 in shipping.

Seems weird that she'd encourage that, even though I bought a box from them for $3 that way.

Yeah I have had them returned to me before, but that was because I wasn't putting on the extra 20 cents for non-machinable. I think I have sent a few that needed another 20 because they were over 1 oz, but they never were returned and none of my recipients ever said anything. But when I took in an envelope that had two top loaders it in (at least 4 cards) it weighed too much and I had to add another 20, according to the lady at the desk.

66 cents because it is non-machinable, 20 extra cents after the first oz.

This is correct.

Also, the reason it usually goes through is that they don't check a vast majority of the letters. The company I work for had some serious miscalculations in order weights for USPS shipments (in this case it didn't matter for UPS and FedEx), and it wasn't discovered until about a month after the faulty code had been deployed because USPS never checked what it actually weighed - but when they finally did, they sent all the mail from the previous day back.

I may or may not have been slightly at fault for said code :-/

What happens if my envelope is too heavy? Do I have to go to the post office and they'll inform me? Or do I get sent a letter saying "Ah yo. Fix this"?

It's at their discretion - the one I got today was too heavy, so they asked me (the recipient) for another 20 cents.

So I just wanted to point something out to people when they make smaller stamp trades - one normal 46 (or whatever) stamp is NOT enough postage when you have a top loader in your envelope. Most of the time, the postal carrier won't say anything, but that's far from always. I got my 8th "Postage Due" envelope in the last year today, and as somebody who never has cash, getting the 20 cents necessary can be a pain in the rear.

Luckily, at least my mail lady's nice enough to let me have the letter without having the cash right away. So, get some 66 (or 86 for over 1oz) cent stamps, people. It's not a huge deal, but it's getting a bit old to have to pay to get my cards tongue

I weigh mine at the post office and a regular stamp is fine for one toploader and 3 cards. For 2 top loaders it requires a 66. For more I use a bubble mailer.

One top loader and 3 cards requires 66 cents because it's technically non-machinable. Two top loaders is borderline 86...

I had a Snapcaster "disappear" when I shipped it to him. DC was never updated to "Delivered" so he claimed he never got it. Could've been true, could also have been not true... I never got it back, and had to send another one.

I got the cards from him two weeks after he marked them as sent, with a stamp on the envelope being from just two days earlier (I took a picture just in case I'd need it for proof of something).

So, I got the cards, but walked away with a really bad feeling from the whole thing.

Edit: Forgot to mention he added a Snapcaster to his inventory on the day after it was out for delivery. That's what made me suspicious.

You have some things in your tradelist I'm interested in, but I don't have much you want at the moment. However, I'm heading to CAST at Monona Terrace in Madison toward the end of this month, so maybe I'll be interested in actually buying a few things from you. big_smile

Anything I should see in Madison? I've never been to Wisconsin before.

Well, I know there's not too much exciting stuff on my tradelist right now, but if you're looking for random odds and ends, there's always a chance I have it, at least.

Likewise, if you have nothing on my wishlist, there's always a good chance you have something else I want, especially if it's SOM, RTR, GTC, or DGM. I'm bored from the lack of trading, so let's trade smile

Just curious - outside of the Hellkites, you don't have a whole lot of value that isn't Modern - do you have other standard things as well that you'd be willing to trade?

All I have on that list is a Bonfire, but I figured I'd check anyway smile

This is also why I ALWAYS print my mailing label with Paypal.  For $1.69, you'll have tracking information, so there can never be a dispute about if a card was delivered or not.

That's what I thought until one of my recent trades. I'm out a Snapcaster because of it.

"June 20: Out for Delivery"
"June 20: Delivery Status not updated"

Aaaaand yeah. No more Snapcaster, and I had to send a new one out.

If you call Customer Service and file a case they can put a tracer on it and when it shows up will call you and you can either have it sent to the original destination or back to you. This does take sometime tho cause when it happened to me, the card bounced around for month before I had any idea where it was. That being said, Ive noticed that insuring packages tends to get more attention from the PO bc when they are actually responsible to pay you back if they lose it, they actually update it accordingly.

Weird - I talked to them, and they said I just had to wait...

Mail Fraud:

A crime in which the perpetrator develops a scheme using the mails to defraud another of money or property. This crime specifically requires the intent to defraud, and is a federal offense governed by section 1341 of title 18 of the U.S. Code.

Talk to the other people he's trading with. It's a federal crime, and can land him in prison for 5 years. A friend of mine went to school with a kid who tried pulling a similar stunt (mail trade of items) and landed in prison for 4 years in Rawlins, Wyoming for his efforts.

Maybe let him know this too...

I got his cards and they're in great condition, but for some reason, my bubble mailer "bounced" and is supposedly coming back (according to the post office). I'm not sure what happened, because the address was right. It was out for delivery, then had "Delivery Status Not Updated," and six days later, it had "electronic shipping info received."  Still waiting for it to come back so I can see WHY it bounced.

He was a bit slow with replying, and his cards took quite a while to arrive, but given that mine is in limbo (something that's never happened to me before :-/  ), it's obviously not like I'm the one who should complain.
