Hello fine people!

I'm currently trying to solidify a modern B/W Token deck, and I really need the lands to fill it out!  My top needs are as such:
3x Godless Shrine
3x Isolated Chapel
4x Marsh Flats

I am perfectly fine trading extra value for the Marsh Flats.  Hit me up, and hopefully we can work something out!

Considering that that card is too damaged to be legal to play, I would probably seriously entertain that $80 offer.

You have a ton of stuff I want.  Feel free to peruse my tradelist to see if anything strikes your fancy.

Hello again, fine folks!

I have taken a recent liking to the modern format (it's also now supported by a couple of LGS's), so I've been altering my decks to fit.  I'll admit that I am largely ignorant of a lot of the modern cardpool, so I have come here to humbly ask for opinions on a couple of decks that I have been working on.

1.) Boros Beatdown
The point here is to swarm with a bunch of inexpensive creatures, stall with some decent burn/removal, and eventually drop a Hellrider or Aurelia to swing for the win.  Pretty straightforward, but I know it can be improved.

2.) Orzhov Tokens
My take on the spirit tokens deck that was popular in standard a year ago.  I use most of those same pieces, but have tried to add modern flavor to it.  As usual, I am ignorant of the cardpool, so there is very little modern in it.

Both decks lack a good landbase.  Modern lands are expensive, and I really only want to make the investment for one of these decks.  As it stands, the Orzhov deck is more fun to play, so I'm leaning towards that one.  Ultimately though, I want to take the more powerful deck to Modern FNMs, so I am completely open to suggestions!

You don't really have much in your tradelist that is at all comparable to the value you're looking for in your wishlist.  If you're willing to trade from inventory, then I have a Thrun and some other stuff you're looking for.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why these are so valuable?  I found the deck lists, and it seems like there are two $5 cards, and a bunch of otherwise useless stuff.  Am I missing something?

I apologize if these ideas are scattered, I'm just going through your list and noting what I see.

First off, a lot of these creatures are too conditional and frail for EDH.  Ten turns into the game, you do not want to be drawing into a Thrull Parasite.  Honestly, I would probably drop all of the extort stuff.  It's kind of an ability that you need to focus on for EDH, and you lack that focus in this deck.

Right now, this deck actually kind of lacks focus in any direction.  I can't really tell what your win conditions are supposed to be.

Also, cut Emeria, the Sky ruin in favor of a basic plains.  You have a total of 9 plains in that deck, and the odds of having 7 of them out, in addition to emeria are staggering.  Actually, since you're only running two colors, you can probably stand to lose most of the lands that come into play tapped in favor of basics.

This deck is aimed mainly at casual play (I'm obviously not going to win any PTQs with a milling deck), so I put modern to expand the cardbase to select from.

I really liked those suggestions, and I already have a good number of those cards.  Thank you so much for the input!

Decklist here.

So I'm basically trying to pimp out Axebane Guardian and Doorkeeperto cast Mind Grind and Increasing Confusion for high values.  I don't know why, but I just can't get this deck to play properly.  I know there is some dead weight in here.  Hopefully, you all can help me identify it, and give me ideas with what to replace it with.

Thanks in advance.

I realize I haven't yet introduced myself, so here goes:

My name is Eric Daniels, I live in Dallas.  I mostly just play with my friends these days, as I can't afford to be competitive in Standard, and definitely not in Modern or Legacy, without putting all of my eggs in one basket.  I have a pretty solid collection, and I really enjoy deckbuilding and drafting.

When I do get the chance to go out in play, I either go to Lone Star Comics in Mesquite, or Gunslinger Games in Dallas.  I prefer the atmosphere at Lone Star, as the people tend to be more friendly, and it is significantly less competitive there.  Gunslinger does sell singles, which is a plus - also, since they are a dedicated game store, there is a lot more casual play, as opposed to just FNM.  Luckily, the staff are pretty cool at both stores.

Offer sent.  smile

First off, thhilker is pretty much spot on.  Some other things to consider.

Arctic Aven is a great replacement for wind drake.  By the time you have three mana, you should have one plains out, which makes this guy a 3/2 that you can add lifelink to at any time.

Drop all of the boros/izzet stuff in favor of more Azorius stuff.  That'll help keep you from getting mana screwed early game.

Judge's Familiar is a great card in this deck.  Do anything you can to get four of them in this deck.  Same with Doomed Traveler.

The mana-base here certainly needs some work.  I would cut at lot of the stuff that costs over four mana to play.  Otherwise, you're going to spend a lot of your early turns doing nothing - which can lose games very quickly.  Up the land count to at least 22, and lose the non-azorius guildgates.

Hopefully that helps!

When all of my current trades resolve, my I will have 99 positive scores.  I can't sit idly by and let that happen, so I need to get some more trades going so soar up and above 100!

I realize that I don't have a lot on my wishlist at the moment, but I am more than happy to look through tradelists to find something.  Also, I will accept almost any trade that involves me getting higher valued cards (with the exception of trading eternal formats for standard).

So hit me up with some trades!  I'd love to get inspired to build a new deck with something from your tradelist.

I wouldn't recommend waiting like that.  Waiting five turns to do anything usually means you're dead.

Since this is for casual, Seething Song seems like a natural inclusion.  Dragonshift does nothing for you in this deck.  It actually makes all of your creatures weaker than they would be otherwise.  Swap those for the Seething Songs.

Now, your deck does almost nothing until turn five.  I might recommend adding some goblins, which are dragons' best friends.  That will give you something to do in the early game, to stall until you can get some real power on the field.

If you don't want to include goblins for flavor reasons, then I would probably put burn spells in instead.  A few lightning bolts and mizzium mortars can usually stall a game long enough for you have a decent board presence.

Also, a minor thing, but this deck doesn't have any lands in it.  You may want to correct that. tongue

EDIT:  Sorry, I just realized that isn't a deck list.

The only thing that sticks out to me is the guildgate, I'd ditch that for a basic plains.  Other than that, I see where you're going and it all seems to make sense together.

Oh snap, I forgot Groundswell!  I'd swap the Giant Growths for those.

Also, you could use a couple of Corpse Curs in case you start running low on creatures.  Another creature to not be underestimated is Putrefax.  I know he only sticks around for one turn, but he can finish off an opponent easily if the game gets stalled.  I also run a couple of Mimic Vats in my build so I can recur Putrefax every turn.  Mind you, this is the stuff in my sideboard in case my main game plan of a turn three Glistener Elf win doesn't come to fruition.

You may want to update your wishlist with things that you want, because right now, it's empty - which makes it hard to people to know if they have something you're actually interested in. smile

Lose the Trees of Tales, and replace them with forests.  Those artifact lands do nothing for you in this deck, and are more susceptible to removal than basic lands, also, they don't help boost Primal Bellows, which is one of the best pumps in this deck.

Ditch the spider umbras for another Rancor and two Livewire Lashes.  If you haven't seen it, Livewire Lash is brutal in this deck.  You don't even have to attack to be able to win.  Other than that, looks pretty solid.

Why would this be despicable?  Maybe I'm missing something, but he obtained all of these buttons, and is offering them to people who otherwise would not be able to obtain them.  I don't see the issue here.

Honestly, I would trade the Voice of Resurgence.  It's worth a whole lot right now, that might not last.

But I do want to end the game as quickly as possible.  I want to not just win, but utterly destroy this guy for gloating every time his $3,000 deck beats my $200 one.  Tinker plus Blightsteel sounds like just the ticket.

So Isochron Scepter is probably one of my favorite cards ever.  I just found out that one of my LGS's is starting to host Modern tournaments, and I want to build a competent deck to compete with.

Since I love Isochron Scepter so much, I want it to kind of be the backbone of this build.  I'm not dead set on colors, but what I have in mind is R/U so far.  I want to use the Scepters to completely control the board state through use of a toolbox of different abilities.

I've chosen R/U for my base because those colors offer good instant speed card draw, countermagic, and removal/burn (sorry, I haven't actually built the deck yet, so no decklist).  Right now, I've got cards to put on the stick like Lightning Bolt, Incinerate, Think Twice, Mana Leak, and Negate.

So here is the discussion, what are some amazing spells to put into a scepter?  I don't care if they're off color, as I don't intend to hardcast most of them.  I know Lightning Helix looks really good, and a lot of the RtR block charms seem pretty effective, but there has got to be some awesome stuff that I'm not thinking of.  Thanks for taking the time to read this mess, and I look forward to your suggestions!
