I was initially drawn to Izzet in this pool. Red was clearly my strongest color, and in Blue Jace was appealing and as was the 1/3 looter. However, after taking a critical look at it I found that I wasn't really satisfied with the total contribution (the Skylord, for example, didn't really have a lot of other amass to support him). Switching to Mardu allowed me to bring in Sorin, a bunch of good removal, and some more low drop creatures.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the outcome, and my 2nd place result in the six round prerelease. Sorin was quite potent and went very nicely with our low-drop threats like Spellgorger Weird and Krenko... who was also quite the house, able to attack in quite nicely with our ample removal to clear his path.
