I don't like Essence Backlash here since it doesn't counter anything. Counterspell would be way better (and cheaper). I like the general theme, but I do wonder if you have enough instants in the deck. I'd cut the Pilgrim's Eyes since they don't directly lend themselves to your strategy (and your curve is low anyway) and replace them with something like Lightning Bolt, which would probably be amazing in this deck. 3 damage at instant speed for R can clear blockers and buff your dudes.

  I worry about the number of flyers in the deck and that's why I was including the Pilgrim's Eye. You're correct that I don't have any double colored mana requirements and the casting costs are low, so I'll see what else I have...or I'll throw in some counterspells/Lightning Bolts. Good suggestions!
