Notes

This combo deck floods the board with enchantments, most of which have powerful ETB (enter the board) effects. Given the frequent reuse of the Trials and the occasional reuse of a Cartouche (thanks to Aviary Mechanic, Ironclad Slayer), the most common route to victory is grinding out card and board state advantage.

Trial of Ambition is the best card to see in the opening hand, with Herald of the Pantheon a close second. The Trial of Ambition grinds out card advantage if it's reused a few times, while the Herald ups the tempo. Having both of these are in the starting hand (with supporting mana base) causes the deck to really shine.

Previous versions of the deck did not have green. I found that it does not go off reliably with less than 9 Trials. Green was the logical 3rd color to add because of the Herald.

With combo decks, speed is of the essence. I used to have more copies of Blightcaster but it's 4-cost makes it too late to be useful in most games. Sigil of the Empty Throne was even worse - game is usually either hopelessly lost or well in hand by the time I might be able to cast something that expensive.

Having Thalia is in the starting hand buys time for this deck to set up all it's combo pieces if it doesn't start with an ideal hand.

There's more tinkering to be done. Not sure about Untamed Hunger, the number of Blessed Spirits, etc. This is just the current version.

My iPhone has been disconnecting so frequently to the server that I haven't played any versus matches since the new set came out, but this deck completely dominates most games vs the AI.
