Notes
The deck got a major overhaul in power and design with the updated list.
It is a Bant mirror of my Derpy Naya (Rith). Play lots of creatures, recur stuff from the graveyard, win and/or have fun. I had to have enough cards to justify it being a different deck, so choices for card packages and theme were considered, as well as the addition of blue gives it more draw power and consistency.
Despite the usual playstyle of Rafiq with a voltron build, the deck does not like to cast him until late game. After there are less threats and cards available to your opponents, casting Rafiq to push double damage on an empty board is the main goal. He is not essential to the deck, but when he hits the field, it's going to hurt. Of course most of the time the deck will have more damage in an all out swing than with an exalted double strike trigger.
Sun Titan Package. I do have a few things that titan can grab, mostly ramp, land, all my artifacts including Oblivion Stone which is important. Eternal Witness is a must. Cards I would not usually run but because of their slight synergy with Sun Titan, I decided to keep them from the first list, also they are flavorful: Qasali Pridemage and Dauntless Escort. I do not have Phantasmal Image in the list, but maybe someday, I've seen too many stupid things done with it.
Tooth and Nail. The original idea was to T&N into Avacyn and Empyrial Archangel so you could not take damage and Archangel couldn't die. Most games I don't go for broke though. Avacyn with Sovereigns or Medomai the Ageless is also a thing.
Current proxies:
Cards on the chopping block in order of most likely
Dread Statuary - Maybe Reliquary Tower over Mutavult
Asceticism - Rarely use it, makes a really hard to answer board state
Baneslayer Angel - Good card. Doesn't really do enough.
Simic Sky Swallower - Flying, shroud, and trample. Good beater, not much else.
Tornado Elemental - Kills flying creatures. Pseudo unblockable.
Qasali Pridemage - Recurred a few times, good with Sun Titan
Stoic Angel - Never actually used, unique effect. Pet card.
Finest Hour - Not always good, unique effect. Pet card
Card Changes
Sovereigns of lost Alara > Venser, the Sojourner
Eldrazi Conscription > Thassa, God of the Sea
Mimic Vat > Phantasmal Image
Sylvan Primordial
Most people have suggested using Terastodon or Woodfall Primus in its place, however, I already run those two so I don't have any obvious replacement. Cards being considered include:
Vorinclex - Ramps and slows down the game.
Bane of Progress - Really good. It does what I want/need it to do, I just don't want the effect to hit my stuff as well, but I don't have many artifacts or enchantments to commit to the board so when used right, it should barely hurt at all.
Brutalizer Exarch - Hide one permanent or tutor up a creature. Used in other lists, not convinced it's good enough for this one
One Trick Pony (Taken out of the deck)
Sovereigns of Lost Alara + Eldrazi Conscription
There are no other targets, and one is useless without the other. While they don't fit the rest of the deck, If I have to cut one, it frees up two slots instantly
Cards that are being considered to include:
Lurking Predators?
Cyclonic Rift
Cards to cut and upgrade?
Hydra Omnivore
Fertilid > burnished hart maybe
Nantuko Monastery
Techtonic Edge > Strip Mine?
outs/ins
planar cleansing > hour of revelation
simic sky swallower > azor, the lawbringer
fertalid > Alchemist's Refuge
Hydra Omnivore > Shalai, Voice of Plenty
Stoic Angel > Seedborn Muse
