Obeka had a better time in a rather abbreviated third game on Monday night. The guy to my right brought out a Yuriko deck that was obnoxiously cEDH and was kicking the shit out of everyone, but with another turn or so and some better Etali luck, I might have stolen that game. Etali was able to come down thanks to a pretty nice Cauldron Dance (with Hecka Obeka juice added), but all I got from a couple of triggers of that was a Welcoming Vampire that didn't do much. 
The deck isn't very fast but it has a lot of expensive spells; not a great mix. Honestly not sure what to do about it aside from stuffing it with mana rocks since we're in Grixis. I'll see what I can come up with.

The last time I was at Magic night, Obeka got a run-out and well, you could definitely say that something happened. Didn't have too much going on for the first little while, despite getting Beks out on-curve, IIRC. There was stuff going on elsewhere for sure, particularly with Tristan's Karn deck that was causing problems for the guy playing a reasonably tricked-out Galea Equipment deck. The crux of things for me came when I finally had a chance to use Obeka's ability (with Alchemist's Gambit, no less); the other player, whose name I can't remember but he's the Phyrexian guy, sacrificed his Phyrexian Plaguelord to kill Obeka with me tapped out. 
The bitch of it is that there's a really simple solution here - it's my turn, so I can just activate Obeka and the ability slides off of the stack. (The Plaguelord would still die, I'm pretty sure - the cost of saccing it would still have been paid and Obeka would just have removed the resulting effect from the stack.) Unfortunately and really kind of stupidly I just decided that without a way to give Beks haste I was done for at the end of the next turn and I scooped - and that was when I realized that I was being a doofus. 
All in all, it was a pretty underwhelming sort of debut for Obeka - and it should be noted that this was due to a brain fart on my part rather than a problem with the deck's construction or even the matchup (which wasn't quite the best for a deck like this that is mostly trying to introduce chaos). 

I took some more stuff out yesterday evening and put other things in along with The Trickster-God's Heist, but I don't really remember what I was putting in. I'm sure I'll have a chance to go back and verify.
I'm also waiting to hear on a buy request I put in yesterday at GMR EDH night; it should have a fair few pieces to make this less of a weird jumble and more of an actual Obeka deck.
