Notes

Would be awesome to add grove of the burnwillows and punishing fire (and kavu predator), but groves are expensive.

Shivan wurm may be a better choice than two-headed dragon. Bouncing your blastoderm is a bonus here.  But who knows?  Pros disagreed, so either should be fine.  (we'll go with ancient hydra because it's easier to acquire - although I have a feeling it was only a pro-caliber card because it used to abuse stacked combat damage.  It probably sucks a lot now.  Oh well.)  You could try Gleancrawler instead.  Or maybe vorstclaw or changeling titan.

For casual play, the idols can be replaced with any easy to cast, efficient three-drop.  Lavacore elemental could work here, and centaur courser would be fine.

I would consider Deadbridge Goliaths possibly in place of the Blastoderms. They're more vulnerable to removal but on the flip side as soon as they die their Scavenge ability can turn something else into a bigger threat.

I almost picked up some of those recently, but it fell through.  You're right, they'd be good.  After going out of my way to acquire the majority of a classic fires deck, I'm a little sad to realize it's not going to be amazing.  As someone on a forum suggested, why cast a t2 fires followed by a t3 blastoderm when you can play a t2 leatherback baloth?  The creatures are so much better ten years later...
