SURGE OF RESISTANCE

Demolish your opponents with powerful flying creatures and devastating burn spells when playing the "Surge of Resistance" deck. This deck combines spells that cost very little mana with cards featuring the surge ability from the Oath of the Gatewatch set, allowing you to cast a lot of spells quickly for discounted mana costs.

It will be tempting to cast spells like Anticipate or Lavastep Raider as early as possible, but being patient and casting them later will make your Jwar Isle Avenger or Boulder Salvo much cheaper to cast. Creatures with prowess, such as Stormchaser Mage, are great attackers due to the power and toughness boosts they receive from each noncreature spell you cast. Instants and sorceries with surge are especially strong alongside creatures with prowess, making it easy to cast several noncreature spells and attack for lots of additional damage.

The Oath of the Gatewatch set has many new cards that enchance the "Surge of Resistance" deck. Devour in Flames is an efficient way to eliminate creatures and planeswalkers. Low-cost spells you've already cast, such as Anticipate, can be reused with Goblin Dark-Dwellers. The planeswalker Chandra, Flamecaller lets you draw fresh cards when you need them or blitz your opponent with 3/1 Elemental creature tokens.
