PLAYING THE "PROFIT" DECK

Enchantments abound on the plane of Theros, and the "Profit" deck shows off the power and versatility of those spells. With the right combination of enchantments, you'll be able to handle anything your opponent sends your way.

The "Profit" deck features the constellation mechanic. Enchantments with this ability provide a useful effect every time an enchantment enters the battlefield under your control. If Grim Guardian is the first such card to enter the battlefield under your control, your opponent will lose 1 life. If you then have Eidolon of Blossoms enter the battlefield, you will draw a card and force your opponent to lose 1 more life. When your Doomwake Giant comes down after that, you'll get constellation triggers from all three cards! When playing this deck, focus on establishing a solid core of these enchantments. You'll want to keep as many of your permanents on the battlefield as possible to preserve your synergies, so it's often preferable to avoid risking your creatures in combat.

Like the "Power" deck, the "Profit" deck plays well with a full graveyard. Cards such as Nighthowler, Graverobber Spider, and Nemesis of Mortals take advantage of having lots of creatures in your graveyard. Nyx Weaver and Commune with the Gods both provide fuel for these powerful creatures.

One of the key cards in this deck is Vineweft. While it looks unassuming, it is actually an important cog in your enchantment engine. This Aura has an ability that lets you return it from your graveyard to your hand, allowing you to get further benefits from your constellation cards. It is often correct to put Vineweft on a creature that will likely die in combat so that you can get Vineweft back and trigger your constellation abilities all over again.
