Won Pro Tour V Masters Championship

"Necropotence, weenie and Winter Orb decks dominated the top ranks of the masters division.  The ultimate winner, however, 18-year-old Paul McCabe of Toronto, didn't wield a standard Necrodeck.

McCabe's deck has only seven creatures - nine if you count Mishra's Factories.  It usually wins with one big creature of a large Drain Life, powered by Lake of the Dead.

'I made it about three months ago, right after just being continually beaten by Necro,' McCabe says.  'I wanted to see if I could make a Necrodeck work that centred around what I thought were dumb cards.  I made the deck basically to try to be funny - to, in a way, prove that Necro was broken.  And I just put in Mind Warps, Lakes of the Dead, which I thought were terrible at the time, everything...

I went to tournament after tournament and I just kept winning.  When I didn't really have a lot of time to test for this tournament, I just sort of took a deck off the shelf, and it was this one.'"
