First Place (7-1)

"While the Deadly Insects, Yavimaya Ants and Balduvian Hordes pack a heavy punch, the true strength of the deck comes from its flexibility.  Between the Pillages, Primitive Justices and Pyrokineses, Alliances has the tools to counter just about any of the other decks' strategies.

The direct damage of Lava Bursts and Guerrilla Tactics can help kill your opponent, but they are also very useful for clearing the way for the Insects and other bone-crushing creatures.  With no artifacts or enchantments, Alliances left most of the other decks with several useless cards.

MVP: Thawing Glaciers.  The mana boost the Glaciers gave Alliances ensured that the deck wouldn't have any problems casting key cards like the Deadly Insects."
