Notes

Won 1997 U.S. Championship (Justin Gary)

Source: Inquest #30 (Oct 1997), p.14; author: Beth Moursund

"'Nobody thought the red / blue deck could do it,' Justin Gary said after the U.S. National finals.  Gary said that he's been playing red / blue ever since he started playing Magic.  He named this deck 'Wild Rainbow' for the Wildfire Emissaries and Rainbow Efreets.  'Basically, it's a red / blue control with considerable creature beat-down.  It's probably one of the most balanced decks I've ever built in that it has 12 counters, 12 removal spells and 12 creatures.  So it works in a variety of ways and I can adapt to whatever situation I need."
