Notes

I was all over the place trying to make a level-up deck in blue and red, but it fell through. I had all kinds of ideas that I would make X cards less expensive and that they would boost this or that, but ultimately I came home to my usual style. The problem with both colors isn't that they can't put up big creatures, but that it takes a long time to get there compared to the other colors. Yes, I have 3 copies of Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius, and it makes a nice cap at the high end with a huge upside potential, but it mostly falls to small creatures sheltered from targeting, card drawing, unblockables, and Raid Bombardment. One or two copies of that, and this deck can wipe out an opponent with an attack that would be shredded, if the game were still going. I will need to revisit this with a mono-red hybrid deck that includes some good hybrid instants. The 16/6/12/3/0/3 curve averages only 2.35, but its second peak at the 3-spot makes it a little unpredictable.
