This was a return to a mono-red creature deck, along the lines of Energetic Creatures. Haste, poking, trample, and double strike all factor in here. While that seems a little unfocused, it was the flexibility of being able to put a lot of that where it was needed that distinguished this deck from less focused decks that came before. The (1)/7/16/13/3/3 curve results in a modest 2.44 average cost, but Sensei's Divining Top, Simian Spirit Guides, and Keldon Halberdiers all make this effectively cheaper.
