Notes

So far building this is an extremely fun puzzle. Because I decided my core engine is chaos, I've built a package that consists of all the warp effects available to me and the three reciting cascade spells. Both mechanics are high variance, which is what I'm embracing. I'm not trying to break the mechanics and reduce variance, but instead build around their variance to basically play from one bizarre board state to the next, like the hell scape surrealist stairways from disenchanted. This I need higher card quality than average to ensure my random hits are valuable, which means a higher bar for inclusion on my enablers and fixing. Most of my warp effects are permanent based, and I'm playing warp world, so permanents in particular have to be 2-1, etb, or game warping, and generally we want to keep our on permanent count down to ensure good warp worlds everytime we cast it, I'm thinking maybe a 10 card cap. Warping into warps is fine. Cascading into cascades is fine. Cascading into warps are fine. Warping into cascades is only ok if the cascade is worth a card on it's own. I find that only the recurring cascade am I happy to warp into, as they are engines in themselves. Cascades also constrain our instant and sorceries, we are decidedly not including cards that require specific timing or the stack. Everything must generally be able used proactively in a vacum. The question of how many sweepers is interesting, as warping or cascading into a sweeper can be ruinous, but also a cool effect of the game. I think I would be more interested in a sacrifice/attrition based board control strategy.

One of my warps is unpredictable cyclone. It requires a density of cycling to be worth the inclusion, but how much, and how much is available that is exciting and can meet the requirements of our engine? Even of I I find an ideal minimal ratio, will this package be as good as stand alone cards in the same slots? Cycling is the kind of variance reduction this deck wants. We don't want to break the effects with vampiric tutor (although it would be easy to swap that and imperial seal to drive up the competitive ness), but we do want to be the best top decking deck, and cycling helps keep us in action. I bend this rule for Varrgoth, as he cascades well, repeats this effects, warps well, and pays off unearth. Cycling also allows us to play some more situational removal or cards that can hit off a warp or cascade or be cycled. If the bulk of interaction has cycling, it keeps the core of my game plan. Also interesting are the basic land cycling cards as fixing and ensuring land drops. At face they seem lackluster. When you consider though that much fixing will be to little impact to be included in our engine, these cards get a little more appealing, as they at least do something or are a creature if warped/cascades I into. Or perhaps we try to keep our creatures very high impact, as most of our warping is permanent based and can be refined by card type. Like I could design the deck so that warping a creature will yield good results often, and know my artifact warping is going to be weaker. A consideration. The cyclone also wants us to have cycling across card types as a warp effect. Perhaps two of each is sufficient? That are playable in their own right, and then pull double duty with an active cyclone. I like a 10% chance to draw a cycler. And we can always cycle the cyclone, and if the other cycling cards are quality, not feel like we've foiled a core engine. So most of time we will just cycle, occasionally we will cast it, and sometimes we will warp into it, and now all our cycles warp. I wish we could play crystals, but seeing as we can't, artifacts are probably bust as hollow one is not worth the card. Upon review, I actually have 11 cycling cards I like for their own worth in the shell, 4 creatures, 5 sorceries, and 2 enchantments. This is fairly perfect as a 10-12 card package. The creatures are yidaro, void beckoner, twisted abomination, and scion of darkness. Yidaro and recokoner are both big with relevant abilities, which is a great fail state, and have added value in their cycling abilities. Twisted abomination has regenerate, which can be worth a lot, and counts as fixing. Scion is just a lot of bang for buck to warp into. This package of creatures raises the Gail rate on warping, as I've have decent beef cakes as enablers. The sorceries are the two decree's, unearth, grave upheaval, and razakeths rite. Decree's are edh staples, and are only better in an engine. Warping into them is hilarious as well. Unearth and grace upheaval can whiff, but suspect will not with all the discard and sacrifice, and are mitigated by having cycling. This deck does want some reanimation in the very least, and these fit an engine. Unearth will require at least 10 value targets. Upheaval also counts as fixing. Razakeths rite is the only true tutor in interested in. Like, it has cycling, and for 5 tutors, and will be great off a warp/cascade. The enchantments are tectonic reformation and footfall crater. Reformation helps us be better at top decking as previously mentioned is a big point. Hitting it is lower impact but a fine enabler. Footfall crater is a 1 Mana cantrip, a delightful scarce effect, and if it were to end up in play, will have an insane impact on the game. I'm most excited for these with cyclone, as warping into enchantments will probably be very strong.

I'm not sure the full list of state based game warping effects that I will want to include, but I know which I want to double up on. Magus of the moon, blood moon,  opposition agent, on nixilis unshackled, site of insanity, and mindslicer. This core means that some amount of warps or plays end in shutting down Mana, shutting down searching, or reducing everyone to hellbent. Have my deck built around these core exclusions allows me to operate where other decks will suffer as these core axis's of edh. And what's the lucky number 7 of these core prison effects? Planar chaos, what perfect embodiment of the deck philosophy!

Because of the warping nature of the deck, every card type must have at least three in it. That way if something gets warped, we have a chance to hit another, even if we have played or are holding one. Planeswalkers are our smallest thus far, and lukka is essential, so we need to decide which are the next best two. Warping either of the others into a lukka seems awesome. I ended up choosing 3, Angrath, Sorin, and Tevesh. All ultimates are awesome, and will be great tension in a top decking game. Decree of annihilation baby! All offer immediate advantage that coalesces with our plan. We need tokens for warping, warping itself, attrition or stealing, saving, drawing, or light removal. Sorin is less synergistic, but edh classic, and offers the highest immediate payoff. Warping cascading into is awesome, and I can play it, use it,and then warp it into another planeswalker, so he works just fine in the secondary cog of our engine. Plus I wanted a mindslaver effect on this deck, so there you go.

Also, it just occurred to me that warping and cascading generally put the card back in our deck or exile. Do we want reshuffling effects? I've avoided the graveyard somewhat on purpose.

We've got a decent core here, just a few more freeby additions before we start to optimize. We need more etb creatures,  more fixing maybe, we need to decide how many additional hand disruption pieces we want (it might be all the global ones), round our our removal weakness's, and then re look at stand alone cards. For fixing we need to figure out if we can get more treasure in the deck, similar to how we considered cycling. This makes our artifact warping actively cool, as warping treasure into real rocks is sweet. Along the with the token warping themes, we need to look at our token maker now and consider the other missed cards tin this category, decide how many and of what type we are most interested in. Before we get into the nitty gritty of this we also have to answer the remaining stand alone already present in the deck that haven't been fully supported like aether works marvel,in comparison to other options. The marvel asks us for demon of dark schemes.

Of course I get to 100 and I immediately add vampiric touch and imperial seal to the deck. My final lesson in this deck is that I control chaos.

Cascade/Warp 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,8+ tutor 0,1,2,4,5 = x spell cast immediately. Sometimes the combination will be 0 for 0. Any spell cast from library. By sheer will. When the chaos is dominated. Playing a game against tibalt is playing against the devel, including his bargains.

Here's a new take on necromancy. It that betrays, tergrid, grave betrayal + eldrazi/good sac stuff= you make sacrifices to me. Land, creature, hand. All.

The Necromancer who can mount the Hypnox upon the Worldgorger Dragon will welcome The Apocalypse.

I looked up some Doomsday primer info, talk about pretentious. A lot of fuckery, especially around blue, like Doomsday is solved? It's basically never solved. Anyway, I like the idea of creating my own doomsday piles. Some Doomsday piles of note:

-Infernal Contract/ Cruel Bargain, Zombie Infestation, Mikaeus the unhallowed, triskellion (this is known as Mike and Ike)

-Infernal Contract/ Cruel bargain, Rings of Brighthearth, Basalt Monolith, Exsanguinate, Random Card

-Infernal Contract/ Cruel Bargain, Oathsworn Vampie, Sacrifice, Bontu's Monument, Phyrexian Altar

-Grenzo, Kiki jiki, Zealous Conscripts, Goblin Sledder

-Metallic Mimic, Murderous Redcap, Skirk Prospector

Vintage is particularly fun, and we are a warp world deck, so I'm not trying to stock my deck with bad draw spells and rituals. I don't want to get stuck of minutiae of these little support cards that will make warping bad. Out of the aforementioned combo's, Mike+Ike is appealing, as is Kiki-Jiki/Zealous Conscripts, as they are two card combo's that aren't awful to warp into. Of these Kiki-Jiki/Zealous Conscripts provide the cleanest combo with the most individual utility. Kiki-jiki is a great value engine with etb creatures, which I want to be dense in, and I was already considering a variety of threaten effects, so conscripts fits well. I can add those two cards to the list and still make my own doomsday piles.

For my own doomsday piles, my "cracking the pile" (getting access to the 5 cards you doomsday right away) won't be by card draw, but by warping. Thus I'm less likely to go off the turn I doomsday, and more likely to depend on the following turn. This is fine, as some amount of time I look forward to randomly doomsdaying myself, a more fun way to doomsday. If I lead on warp world and have 4 tokens of any kind, I can put all of the remaining cards in play. This includes Kiki-jiki, Conscripts, so it's an instant win. I can also do It that betrays or Tergrid with posessed portal as a fun attrition based win, or shennanigans with Apocalypse/worldgorger dragon. I can have a back-up in mirror of fate or elixir of immortality. These are the first few that come to mind, but this is fun enough that I want to include it, and will lock in potential doom piles when my list is more optimized.

I removed worldgorger dragon and apocalypse. I am a warp deck, and these cards require timing to be profitable. If I warp into a world nuking event, I want it to be true neutral or slanted my way, like the decree's.

My warp/cascade cards are fairly precious at 15 in the deck. As the decks core engine, I need to priortize them. Should I cut tutors, or consider them part of the engine? Tutor's and doomsday gives my deck the inevitability and consistency it would otherwise lack. I think it's time to extrapolate a framework and break down numbers.

So far, it's actually not that many tutors, just 6. 3 efficient and 3 inefficient, that's not too bad considering. This combines with 16 engine cards. If I cut 2, I can consider and even 20 card engine. Those two are either Bituminous Blast+ Volcanic Torrent, or Unpredictable Cyclone+ Razaketh's rite. It's a big fork. I can cut the two worst cascade spells easy and reduce our instant sorcery count, which is desirable. This is the safe choice. However I could cut rite and cyclone. If I do this, I can remove the cycling package, and open many free spaces in the list, as well as upgrade two fixing cards (Grave Upheaval+Twisted Abomination). These cards hold a chunk of the core enabler spots, likely to be our flesh bag marauder creatures. It offers a philosophical driection of the deck. Do I want to be more all in on abusing etb effects and accruing value from warps that way, or do I want more solid end stops in our beefcakes and have a higher floor with a density of cycling. Card flow in rakdos is one of the biggest weakness's, and this might be the least intensive way to accommodate that. As I reflect on these more, both directions are trying to add consistency and raise the floor, either by a density of 2-1's, or a density of more flexible material. I believe on average though the options and agency a density of cycling cards is going to do a better job than packing my deck with a redundant baseline 2-1's. I also think this will push us to have much more impactful cards otherwise to compensate, which will be difficult for cutting but should ensure a higher quality warp on average. I can always rebuild from this point if I find the cycling package anemic.
