Deck Name: Dominion of the Praetors

Format: Legacy
Deck Type: Midrange-Control (Engine-Based Lock)
Deck Theme: Legendary Ramp Lock – Realmbreaker + Mirror Gallery + Praetors
Colors: WUBRG (White, Blue, Black, Red, Green)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description

"Dominion of the Praetors" is a synergy-fueled control deck that weaponizes the Realmbreaker, the Invasion Tree to unleash a flood of legendary Praetors across the battlefield. With Mirror Gallery breaking the Legendary Rule, the deck thrives on fielding multiple versions of Elesh Norn, Sheoldred, Jin-Gitaxias, and Vorinclex simultaneously — stacking devastating static abilities that lock opponents out of the game.

While the deck includes a powerful engine (Realmbreaker + Mirror Gallery), it does not rely on instant-win combos. Instead, it gradually overwhelms opponents through soft locks, resilient ramp, and snowballing value.

The deck excels in both multiplayer and 1v1 formats by leveraging a combination of mana acceleration, board wipes, and legendary threats. Designed for high-power casual tables, it wins through inevitability and overwhelming board control. It is not tribal in mechanics, but its full commitment to Praetors gives it a unique pseudo-tribal identity. The deck functions as a ramp-control engine rather than a true combo deck.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to Play

Early Game:
Ramp quickly using Cultivate, Kodama’s Reach, Faeburrow Elder, and mana rocks.Fix your mana base to enable full WUBRG access.Use counterspells or spot removal to stall aggressive decks.

Mid-Game:
Cast and protect Realmbreaker, the Invasion Tree.Play Mirror Gallery to break the Legendary Rule.Control the board with Wrath of God, Damnation, Austere Command.

Late Game:
Activate Realmbreaker and fetch multiple Praetors.Stack overlapping static effects with Mirror Gallery.Win by attrition and board dominance.

Ideal Opening Hand:
2 lands (preferably including green)
1 ramp spell (Cultivate or Kodama's Reach)
1 removal or counterspell
1 Realmbreaker or Mirror Gallery if possible

Mulligan if color-screwed or flooded with high-cost cards.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How the Lock Works

Setup:
Cast Mirror Gallery to bypass the Legendary Rule.

Engine:
Use Realmbreaker to search and deploy multiple legendary Praetors.
Each Praetor introduces a static effect that compounds with duplicates:
Elesh Norn suppresses creatures
Sheoldred drains or resurrects
Jin-Gitaxias counters or copies spells
Vorinclex cripples mana and boosts yours

Result:
A soft lock that is hard to escape from. Opponents lose tempo, draw, recursion, and control all at once.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sideboard Strategy

The sideboard enhances the deck’s resilience against specific archetypes and improves performance in multiplayer or adaptive 1v1 matches:

Vs. Aggro Decks:
Toxic Deluge and Wrath of God are your main sweepers for token swarms and fast creature pressure.
Wrap in Vigor protects your board post-Praetor deployment, especially valuable in multiplayer where wipes are common.

Vs. Control Decks:
Veil of Summer stops counterspells and discard while drawing you a card.
Mystical Dispute is a low-cost counter for opposing blue decks.
Heroic Intervention gives all permanents hexproof and indestructible — excellent versus sweepers.

Vs. Combo Decks:
Pithing Needle disables key combo pieces with activated abilities (planeswalkers, artifacts, etc.).
Disdainful Stroke counters high-mana threats, common in combo or ramp shells.

Vs. Enchantments/Artifacts:
Wilt is flexible as both removal and cycling in dead matchups.
Heroic Intervention again doubles as board protection if your own engine is under threat.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skill Level and Playability

"Dominion of the Praetors" is perfect for players who enjoy deliberate setup into hard-to-beat board states. It rewards patience, sequencing, and protection over aggression.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Playstyle: Mana ramp with overwhelming board control through powerful Praetors
Best For: Both 1v1 and multiplayer casual formats

Competitive Profile and Ratings

Power Level: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
Once Realmbreaker is active with Mirror Gallery and 2+ Praetors on board, the deck is extremely hard to stop. Each Praetor brings compounding pressure.

Combo vs Control Ratio: 70% Control / 30% Engine Combo
Plays as control-ramp with a payoff engine. Does not rely on instant kills, but overwhelms over time.

Speed: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5)
Starts slow with ramping turns 1–4, but explodes from turn 5+ with board wipes into win engines.

Resilience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4.5/5)
Multiple board wipes, protection (Heroic Intervention, Wrap in Vigor), and redundancy in threats make it difficult to shut down entirely.

Best Format Fit:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Play Like a Praetor – 5 Tips for Mastering the Deck

Ramp deliberately. Prioritize fixing colors before rushing threats.

Protect Realmbreaker. Treat it like a win-condition.

Don’t overextend into wipes. 1–2 Praetors are often enough.

Mirror Gallery is not a win-con by itself. Sequence it only when safe.

Mulligan bad hands — a hand without ramp and lands is a death sentence.

Bonus: 2x Vorinclex in play? Watch the table scoop.
