Deck Name: Hydra Reign Supreme

Format: Legacy
Deck Type: Combo-Control
Deck Theme: X-Spell Hydra Ramp & Scalable Combat Explosions
Colors: Blue-Black-Green (Sultai – BUG)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description

Hydra Reign Supreme is a Legacy-legal combo-control deck that weaponizes X-cost spells, ramp, and Hydra synergy to unleash massive battlefield presence and unstoppable finishers. The deck’s plan is simple: ramp efficiently, control threats with precision, then explode into game-ending spells like Exponential Growth, Biomass Mutation, or Villainous Wealth.

Its scalable threats grow with your mana, while counterspells and flexible answers buy you the time needed to set up overwhelming turns. Whether in 1v1 or multiplayer, the deck adapts to the table and strikes explosively when the opportunity is right.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to Play

Early Game:
Use Rampant Growth, Cultivate, and Incubation Druid to quickly develop your mana base.
Disrupt with Fatal Push, Disfigure, or Syncopate to stop early pressure.

Mid-Game:
Play value Hydras (Capricopian, Genesis Hydra, Heroes' Bane) and support them with Corpsejack Menace.
Draw cards with Pull from Tomorrow, Even the Score, or Inspiring Call.
Keep mana open for counters like Negate or Clash of Wills.

Late Game:
Win explosively:
Cast Exponential Growth or Biomass Mutation for a massive alpha strike.
Use Villainous Wealth to steal your opponent’s deck.
If overwhelmed, reset with Gaze of Granite and reestablish board control.

Ideal Opening Hand:

A strong hand includes:
2 lands (one dual preferred)
1 ramp card (Rampant Growth, Cultivate, or mana dork)
1 piece of disruption (Syncopate, Negate, Fatal Push)
1 scalable threat (Capricopian, Corpsejack Menace)
1 draw or utility spell (Inspiring Call, Mind Stone, or Even the Score)

Mulligan if you lack ramp or interaction — timing is key.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How the Combo Works

The core of Hydra Reign Supreme revolves around the scaling power of X-cost spells, which naturally become stronger as the game progresses and your mana pool grows. This means that the combo is not a single 2-card win, but rather a gradual synergy engine that explodes when pieces align.

Ramp Engine Sets the Stage:
Open with Rampant Growth, Cultivate, Mind Stone, or Incubation Druid to build mana.
Your X-cost spells grow with you, allowing you to cast massive threats earlier than expected.

Hydras as Scaling Threats:
Hydras like Genesis Hydra, Capricopian, Wren’s Run Hydra, and Hydra Broodmaster scale naturally and can become win conditions on their own — especially with Corpsejack Menace on the field doubling counters.

Combos and Win Conditions:
Biomass Mutation: Turns your board into instant-lethal threats.
Exponential Growth: Doubles power, often ending the game with just one creature.
Villainous Wealth: Steals wincons and control pieces directly from your opponent’s deck.
Corpsejack Menace + any Hydra: Makes every threat exponentially bigger.
Draw spells: Even the Score and Pull from Tomorrow ensure gas when needed most.

Synergy-Driven Momentum:
The deck doesn’t rely on a single combo — it is a combo ecosystem, with Hydras, spells, and counters all contributing to overwhelming power turns. You adapt your path to victory based on the matchup and tempo of the game, allowing for flexible responses and explosive closers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sideboard Strategy

Against Aggro Decks:
Toxic Deluge handles go-wide boards.
Heroic Intervention protects your investment.
Kogla, the Titan Ape offers removal and tempo.

Against Control Decks:
Mystical Dispute and Thoughtseize hit counter-heavy hands.
Disdainful Stroke protects you from late-game bombs.

Against Combo Decks:
Leyline of the Void and Nihil Spellbomb block graveyard synergies.
Disfigure and Return to Nature are cheap, efficient disruptions.

Against Artifact/Enchantment Strategies:
Unravel the Aether and Return to Nature remove lock pieces or accelerants.
Keep pressure on with scalable threats so they can't stabilize.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hydra Reign Supreme is ideal for players who enjoy flexible control, mana efficiency, and explosive combat-based victories. It rewards careful sequencing and mana planning, while remaining interactive and powerful at all stages of the game.

Play Like a Pro – 5 Tips for Mastering the Deck

Don't ramp blindly – always leave mana open.
Flexibility beats speed if it protects your board from disruption.

Don’t overcommit creatures before you’re ready to swing.
Build your board carefully; Biomass Mutation wins games when timed properly.

Use draw spells mid-turn, not at end step.
You might need mana immediately if you draw into answers or counters.

Villainous Wealth is a finisher, not a value play.
Casting it too early might dilute your pressure. Use it when you can steal wincons.

Corpsejack Menace is your quiet MVP.
Protect it — it makes Hydras absurd and can swing the game alone.
