Notes

Deck Name: Oak of Vitality

Format: Legacy
Deck Type: Combo-Midrange
Deck Theme: Lifegain Token Combo – Scurry Oak + Heliod/Cleric Class
Colors: Green-White (Selesnya) splash Black

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description

Oak of Vitality is a synergy-driven combo-midrange deck that transforms small lifegain triggers into overwhelming battlefield presence. Centered around Scurry Oak and enablers like Heliod, Sun-Crowned or Cleric Class, it creates infinite Squirrel tokens while gaining life and growing your board exponentially.

With support from Soul Warden, Prosperous Innkeeper, Conclave Mentor, and Chatterfang, the combo becomes not only explosive but also resilient. While it may seem like a fair creature deck at first glance, once the engine starts rolling, it’s capable of burying opponents in tokens, counters, and inevitability.

Oak of Vitality is designed for both 1v1 and multiplayer Legacy environments, providing consistency, adaptability, and sheer board dominance.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to Play

Early Game:
Play Soul Warden or Innkeeper for consistent lifegain triggers.
Establish pressure with Luminarch Aspirant or Conclave Mentor.
Use Eladamri’s Call early to secure a missing combo piece.

Mid Game:
Cast Scurry Oak and begin building toward the combo.
Get Cleric Class to Level 2 or deploy Heliod.
With Mentor on board, gain double value from each counter placed.
Protect the board using Heroic Intervention or Veil of Summer.

Late Game:
Assemble the combo:
Scurry Oak + Soul Warden + Heliod or Cleric Class (Level 2)
→ Infinite Squirrel tokens through recursive lifegain and counters.
If Chatterfang is in play, tokens double with each trigger.
Use Finale of Devastation for lethal haste and overwhelming damage.

Ideal Opening Hand

A great hand should include:
2 Lands (one green and one white)
1 lifegain source (Soul Warden or Innkeeper)
1 combo piece (Scurry Oak or tutor like Eladamri’s Call)
1 support engine (Cleric Class, Heliod, or Mentor)
Optional: protection (Heroic Intervention or Veil of Summer)

Mulligan Tips:
Mulligan hands without mana fixing or without lifegain + synergy pieces.
Avoid hands full of late-game or 1-ofs with no clear development.
On the play: prioritize curve and synergy.
On the draw: lean into protection or tutor access.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How the Combo Works

Scurry Oak enters with Soul Warden or Innkeeper on board.
You control Heliod or Cleric Class Level 2+.
Lifegain triggers a +1/+1 counter on Oak → creates Squirrel token.
The token entering the battlefield causes another lifegain trigger.
Repeat → infinite Squirrel tokens and life.

With Chatterfang on the battlefield, every token made also creates an additional Squirrel, supercharging the board state instantly. Finale of Devastation for X = 10+ ends the game on the spot.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sideboard Strategy

Against Aggro Decks:
+2 Heroic Intervention – protect board from sweepers.
+2 Path to Exile – remove fast threats efficiently.

Against Control:
+1 Veil of Summer – stop counterspells or discard.
+2 Archon of Emeria – pressure spell sequencing.

Against Combo:
+3 Damping Sphere – delays storm or infinite loops.
+2 Archon of Emeria – limits opponent interaction windows.

Against Graveyard:
+3 Rest in Peace – completely shuts off reanimator/dredge decks.

Against Enchantments/Artifacts:
+1 Reclamation Sage (main)
+1 Force of Vigor or Seal of Primordium (SB tech)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skill Level and Playability

Oak of Vitality is perfect for players who enjoy modular creature combos and board-based engines. While easier to pilot than stack-based combo decks, mastering its timing, board presence, and protection sequencing is key to victory.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Playstyle: Synergistic midrange engine with combo finisher
Best For: Both 1v1 and multiplayer high-power casual Legacy

Play Like a Pro – 5 Tips for Mastering the Deck

Protect before you combo. Never go off unless you have protection ready.
Tutor pro-actively. Use Eladamri’s Call before pressure builds — don’t wait.
Don’t overextend. Keep backup combo pieces in hand if board wipes are likely.
Play the value game if needed. You can win fairly with counters + creatures.
Sideboard smart. Know your hate cards and what to bring in — you’re a flexible deck.
