Notes

Deck Name: Clerchantment

Format: Legacy
Deck Type: Tribal-Control
Deck Theme: Clerics + Enchantment Toolbox Control
Colors: White-Black (Orzhov)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description

Clerchantment is a Legacy tribal-control deck that merges the defensive resilience of Clerics with a potent enchantment toolbox. Clerics provide protection, lifegain, and tempo disruption, while Academy Rector fetches powerful enchantments like No Mercy, Luminarch Ascension, or Debtors’ Knell to secure inevitability.

This deck thrives by outlasting opponents, draining aggro’s momentum, disrupting combo players with discard, and leveraging enchantments to lock down the board. It plays patiently, gaining incremental advantage until its inevitability engines overwhelm the table.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to Play

Early Game:
Lead with cheap Clerics (Mother of Runes, Auriok Champion, Weathered Wayfarer) to stabilize the board.
Use Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek to strip away early threats and disrupt combo setups.
Deploy Authority of the Consuls to slow down aggro and gain incremental lifegain.

Mid-Game:
Transition into control by establishing lock pieces: Ghostly Prison vs wide boards, No Mercy to punish aggression.
Use Vindicate and Anguished Unmaking for versatile answers.
Preacher + Starlit Sanctum (tutored via Wayfarer) can permanently steal creatures for value.
Sacrifice Academy Rector to tutor the exact enchantment needed for the matchup.

Late Game:
Luminarch Ascension becomes a fast inevitability engine, creating an army of Angels.
Debtors’ Knell ensures recursive value and inevitability against grindy decks.
Wrath effects reset the board while your resilient Clerics and enchantments secure the win.

Ideal Opening Hand:
2–3 lands (including at least one white source)
1 cheap cleric (Mother of Runes, Auriok Champion)
1 disruption piece (Thoughtseize or Vindicate)
1 mid-to-late payoff (Rector or Luminarch Ascension)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How the Control Strategy Works

The deck operates as a WB Attrition-Control hybrid:

Disruption: Discard removes key combo or control cards.
Protection & Lifegain: Clerics ensure you outlast fast decks.
Board Control: Wraths and Ghostly Prison reset the battlefield.
Toolbox inevitability: Rector tutors the right enchantment for the situation.

The synergy between Clerics’ defensive nature and enchantments’ inevitability creates a control shell that is hard to dismantle once established.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sideboard Strategy

Against Aggro Decks:
Bring in extra Wrath of God.
Swap out slower enchantments for sweepers and extra Authority of the Consuls.

Against Combo Decks:
Add Surgical Extraction, Leyline of the Void, and Containment Priest.
Cut some removal and slower prison pieces.

Against Control Decks:
Bring in Council’s Judgment and Kaya, Orzhov Usurper for flexibility and attrition.
Protect win conditions by keeping Grand Abolisher.

Against Artifact Decks:
Board in Stony Silence to shut down artifact engines.

Against Graveyard Strategies:
Load up on Rest in Peace and Leyline of the Void for hard shutdown.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skill Level and Playability

This deck requires Intermediate–Advanced play skill. Mastery comes from sequencing Rector targets, choosing the right enchantment for the matchup, and leveraging Clerics for maximum survivability. It excels in both multiplayer (inevitability and lifegain) and 1v1 (discard and control).

Difficulty Level: Advanced sequencing and matchup knowledge required.
Playstyle: Patient control with inevitability finishers.
Best For: Players who enjoy slow, grindy control with tribal and enchantment flavor.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Competitive Profile and Ratings

Power Level: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Strong inevitability through Rector toolbox and enchantments.

Speed: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5)
Slower start, stabilizes mid-game.

Resilience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Hard to disrupt due to lifegain, protection, and enchantment recursion.

Complexity: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
High decision-making on Rector timing, discard use, and lock sequencing.

Format Fit:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Casual-Competitive Legacy (1v1)
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ Multiplayer Legacy
⭐⭐☆☆☆ Tournament Legacy

Tribal vs Control Ratio: 40% Tribal / 60% Control
The deck primarily plays as a control shell, with Clerics providing survivability, protection, and lifegain. The tribal aspect supports the strategy, but victory comes mainly through control tools and Rector-fueled enchantment locks.

Play Like a Pro – 5 Tips for Mastering the Deck

Don’t rush Rector. Wait until you know exactly which enchantment will lock the board best.

Use discard proactively. Strip away combo pieces or sweepers before committing.

Value your protection clerics. Auriok Champion and Mother of Runes are game-savers — don’t trade them lightly.

Sequence enchantments by priority. Ascension vs Control, Prison vs Aggro, Knell vs Midrange.

Keep inevitability in mind. You don’t need to win quickly; you just need to ensure the opponent can’t recover.
