Deck Name: Draconic Tempest

Format: Legacy
Deck Type: Tribal-Tempo-Control
Deck Theme: Dragon Tribal — Tempo & Midrange Finishers
Colors: Blue-Green-Red (Temur)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description

Draconic Tempest is a Legacy tribal-tempo deck that controls the early game with countermagic and mana acceleration, then overwhelms the opponent with dragon finishers. By leveraging card advantage from Sarkhan Unbroken and pressure from Thunderbreak Regent, Glorybringer, Goldspan Dragon, and Stormbreath Dragon, the deck establishes inevitability in the air while holding back threats with Force of Will and efficient burn.

This deck thrives in 1v1 Legacy competitive casual environments, with enough interaction to contest control and combo decks, while excelling against midrange and aggro opponents that struggle against resilient flying threats.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to Play

Early Game:
Develop mana with Birds of Paradise or Noble Hierarch.
Hold up Force of Will or Counterspell to stop early threats.
Use Brainstorm and Sylvan Library to fix draws.

Mid-Game:
Play Sarkhan Unbroken to generate card advantage and tokens.
Deploy Thunderbreak Regent or Glorybringer to punish midrange opponents.
Goldspan Dragon provides both pressure and Treasure ramp to extend your plays.

Late Game:
Dominate with Stormbreath Dragon and Dragonlord Atarka for board control.
Token production from Sarkhan and Dragonmaster Outcast (sideboard) overwhelms grindy matches.
Treasure tokens keep you ahead on mana, enabling multiple plays per turn.

Ideal Opening Hand:
2 lands (preferably green and blue)
1 mana creature
1 counterspell
1 draw/filter spell
and ideally 1 dragon threat.

Mulligan hands without interaction or mana fixing.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How the Tribal-Control Works

Early Defense: Cheap counters and Lightning Bolt stop early aggression.

Midgame Pressure: Dragons with evasion and utility dominate combat and punish removal.

Late-Game Storm: Sarkhan tokens, Outcast, and Atarka secure inevitability.

Tempo Engine: Goldspan Dragon accelerates you ahead, letting you deploy dragons faster than opponents can respond.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sideboard Strategy

Against Aggro Decks:
Bring in Anger of the Gods and Dragonmaster Outcast.
Cut some high-cost dragons for sweepers and blockers.

Against Control Decks:
Bring in Pyroblast, Veil of Summer, and Chandra.
Cut Lightning Bolts and Draconic Roars for more resilient threats and disruption.

Against Combo Decks:
Bring in Surgical Extraction and Grafdigger’s Cage.
Maintain Force of Will / Negation and use Veil to push through.

Against Graveyard/Artifact Strategies:
Ancient Grudge, Surgical, and Cage come in.
Cut weaker threats or high-curve cards to maintain tempo and disruption density.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skill Level and Playability

Draconic Tempest is designed for players who enjoy tempo-control strategies with big tribal finishers. It rewards careful sequencing of counters and mana while providing satisfying, high-impact dragons as finishers.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Playstyle: Tempo-control with tribal finishers
Best For: 1v1 Legacy and competitive casual multiplayer

Play Like a Pro – 5 Tips

Don’t overspend counters early. Save Force of Will for critical spells, not small creatures.

Leverage Brainstorm with fetch-style shuffling. Even without fetchlands, Brainstorm + Sylvan Library ensures consistency.

Sequence dragons by role. Thunderbreak first for punishment, Glorybringer next for removal, Goldspan last for tempo burst.

Protect Sarkhan. If he survives, he snowballs games faster than most dragons.

Use Treasures wisely. Don’t crack them early unless it gives a tempo swing or protects a threat.

“From the eye of the storm, dragons descend — swift, fiery, and relentless.”
